“Hotel fine with me....food needs improving though.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

Prior to arriving at the Mercury hotel we were considering changing hotels due to the recent bad reviews. We would have incurred further charges so we decided to see how it went, and we were pleasantly surprised.
The room was clean and cleaned daily. The hotel looked nice inside and showers were amazing. We only had a B&B booking but the breakfast could be improved. Didnt have the lunch and dinner, but there are plenty places to buy food nearby.
Staff were offish at first but I think it is a culture difference, not the intending to be rude.
Really nice place and would stay again.
Could do with more entertainment though as other hotels played music by the pools, had aqua zumba etc!

The reception staff are downright rude and very unhelpful. The hotel rooms are very basic and the most awful bright orange colour makes up most of the decor in the rooms and the hotel. After 3 days we had to actually ask for a maid to come and clean our room and we were there for 5 nights and had the same tiny bar of soap and two tiny towels for the duration. They do not cater for British people at all. The guests appeared to be mainly from Russia and surrounding countries and they were very noisy. The food was cold, greasy, stodgy and not for British pallets and the restraunt could only be described as a cross between a school dinner hall and a prison dinner hall. The hotel must have either bought their 4 star rating or won it in a raffle as it does not merit any more than a two. We could not wait to leave.

We've just returned from a week in Santa Susanna staying at the Mercury Hotel. We had a fantastic holiday. Luckily we had good weather so spent most of our time round the pool and on the beach. The pool was cool, but we still went in. Our kids (aged 5 and 6) enjoyed the activities around the pool and the disco and entertainment at night. The hotel reception is impressive but I agree the rooms are a little basic, but as a base were totally acceptable. The cleaner came daily to make the bed and change towels. We did B&B and were happy with the selection at breakfast. No kettle in your room though so leave the coffee and tea bags at home!! Ideal for families with young children and older adults, perhaps not so good for people in 20's looking for a wild night out!

Room Tip: Sea view rooms get more sun on the balcony

Hotel looks very impressive when you arrive, immaculate reception and pool area. The rooms are not so impressive, old and dated bright orange decor. The bathroom was even worse, defo could do with updating, had a strong smell of sewage, no bath just a shower. The wide selection of food could have been good, but always cold.

Terrible!!! Old, unpleasant, noisy and smelly!!!

The hotel staff if absolutely out of order, often very rude and arrogant.

The bathroom was dirty, the toilet bowl flushing was either not working or water was leaking continuously.

And so on, and so on ...

Room Tip: There is none!!!

My partner and I were sent here as an alternative in march 2013. Neither of us have written hotel reviews before as we are not usually in the habit of moaning but we have to share this. On arrival the hotel looks lovely and the reception area immaculate. That is the good bit. The staff arw extremely rude. The reception staff happily stop in mid conversation to answer the phone. At 1 point I stood for 9 mins while the reception manager laughed and joked on the phone after telling me "1 moment please"

The rooms are tiny, the walls and bedding bright orange much like a prison. The bathrooms are very basic and smell of sewage. We were provided with 2 paper thin bath towels only, we stayed for 3 nights and 1 towel was changed once. When we left we had a total of 13 bar glasses sitting in the room as the maids did not at any time remove them. The hotel is extremely noisey and you can hear every word spoken by your neighbours. The beds are totally done in and the matresses well over used and uncomfortable....the advertised fitness suit is filled with broken equipment

The food,,,, on every holiday I go all inclusive and to be honest I expect basic food, the food here was awful, it was cold and always soked in really strong salty sauces. We ended up always eating out. The bar, as I say i always go all inc and with that you can expect slightly watered down drink, the mercury take that to a new level. The best thing on thr menu was cheese on toast and cola, the even managed to cock up the chips.:-) this is advertised as a 4 star hotel, I assure you it is no where near that standard. The rooms dont even have tea or coffee in them. The hotel advertises internet and bank facilities, they have a lovely room set aside for this with big signs, when you ask the ever so polite reception staff where the equipment is they simply shrug their shoulders, state "they took it away long time ago" and continue to walk on. PLEASE TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT NORMALLY COMPLAIN THIS PLACE IS A DESASTER, IT RUINED MY SHORT BREAK, PLEASE THINK TWICE.
