“"Beaut-ique-iful"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

We travelled to Mar Mediterrania by transfer organised by Jet2 but were astounded by the service we were given - dumped on the road, had to get our own luggage off the bus and then on asking the driver where the hotel was, he pointed in both directions and drove off.
On eventually finding our hotel we were welcomed with a glass of Cava - very nice touch.
Our room was very clean and modern with fridge (2 bottles of water) and ample wardrobe/storage space. The balcony came with settee, chair, cushions, coffee table and clothes line. The bathroom had a walk-in shower and supplied with toiletries and little extras.
Towels changed on a daily basis. The bed, which was very comfortable had a memory foam mattress and comfy pillow. Safe hire - 4 euro per day or 20 euro per week.
Meals were ok but not great, you would not starve as there was always something on offer to suit everyone. The soup, though, was like dishwater and the same on 4 consecutive nights. Pork was on the menu almost every night and became very samey. If food was labelled it would have been a great help, especially when you are looking forward to onion rings and then discover you have picked up calamary. Also could do with some small side plates for bread etc.
On Friday nights all the ladies were given a red rose on entering the restaurant - do not know the reason for this but a nice gesture.
Good choice of branded drinks available and also lovely cocktails but long queues at times and only allowed one drink at a time. All inclusive does not extend to the beach bar however, where A/I drinks are charged at half price. A Piano Bar was advertised but non-existent during our stay.
Pool towels were supplied and ample sun beds available but we found some of them to be quite uncomfortable.
All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and could not do enough to make our stay most enjoyable. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel but do be prepared for a long transfer from Barcelona airport.

Dear SunseekerInverness,
Thank you for sharing your comments and opinions with us. They are very important tous to improove our service.
I have read your coment on the transfer service. We have passed them on to the transfer company.

Regarding the restaurant, just want to let you know that all dishes have been labeled for everybody to know what it is.
By the way, the flower we give at the entrance of dinner is simply a little gift from us. I hope you liked it. :-)

Well, once again, thank you for your comments and review. We will keep on working to improve.

Kind regards from everybody at FERGUS Style Mar Mediterrania.

Had a great break at this smashing hotel. The staff were all excellent and couldn't do enough for the guests. Would we stay again? Yes most definitely but perhaps not all inclusive, snacks and drinks were so reasonably priced there would be no need. The food in the restaurant was ok but could have been warmer. Don't expect lively evening entertainment, the best you get is a keyboard songster!

This very stylish hotel is in a quiet location or at least it was quiet in March! It is literally on the beach
We upgraded to a suite on arrival which was amazing and would thoroughly recommend if it is available
The fixtures and fittings were high end and the staff very friendly and helpful
We loved the Spa and really liked that only a few people at a time could book this
The bar staff were great and the drinks very reasonably priced
The food was the only average thing about this hotel
Would definitely return to this hotel again and again !

we have just returned from a weeks stay at the hotel, first the transfer from the airport, we flew to barcelona with jet 2, we booked the transfer through jet2 and knew it was nearly two hours, we stopped around 8 to 10 times before we reached our hotel which we expected but the downside was coming back we were picked up 4 1/2 hours before our flight as we had to do all the stops on the way back, not complaining as the price for the transfer is good but a tip to groups of 4 or over would be to see if a private transfer would be cheaper and its only an hour to and from the airport, now the hotel: check in was quick and efficient and the member of staff explained everything perfectly we were greeted with a glass of cava and we were in our room in ten mins, the room was quite large we had a twin with two big beds the bathroom was very nice with a tropical shower and a few lotions and potions in a little basket, the balcony was nice with a chair and a leather settee and coffee table, we had a flat screen tv which should have got a few english channels but we didnt get them, im sure if we had told reception they would have sorted it but we weren't too fussed so just left it,there is also a fridge in the room, this is not a minibar and the hotel do not fill it but you can always get a few bottles of water from the bar and stick them in there we had a room on the road side of the hotel so didn't get the sun in the afternoon and it was also very noisy in the morning on this side plus the hotel is quite noisy you can hear doors shutting and people moving around but this is just par for the course in our experience in hotels in spain, italy etc, the hotel supply pool towels and the pool area is nice we never had a problem getting beds but you have to get up early to get round the pool or on one of the two leather beds that are there, there was drinks service round the pool but the guys were always rushed off their feet so more often than not i just nipped in a got my own drinks from the bar, the food at the buffet was good, breakfast was either continental or full english with fresh ommlettes being cooked with various fillings a good selection of different breads and cereals etc, lunch was usual all inclusive, plenty of fresh salad, fish and meat, vegetables and fruit and cakes for dessert, dinner was more or less the same with the addition of a big roast of pork or beef with roast potatoes or wedges, it was all nicely cooked and fresh but as with all all inclusives gets a bit samey after a week but no complaints, a nice touch is the restaurant staff bringing drinks to the table, the drinks in the bar were very good all branded spirits and cocktails were made correctly not just thrown in a blender with ice, there was a good selection, cava, limoncello, etc, if there was something that was not on the all inclusive menu that you fancy you can still have it at a reduced rate but we found there was plenty to go at without spending any money, we had entertainment on two nights in the week we were there one was a singer who played about 6 different instruments who was good then a flamenco show which took me right back to the eighties in benidorm!! not much went on on the other nights so some people went out to one of the many bars just across the road, i cannot say enough here how good the staff were nothing was too much trouble for any of them, the top guys were at the bar, luico the cocktail maestro was great as were joan and juan c who really looked after us, these guys aren't just after tips either i literally had to force 10 euros on juan c at the end of our holiday he was very reluctant and even a little bit embarrassed to take it, these guys are some of the best staff we have ever had on our travels, the location of the hotel is good, right on the beach, the beach itself is quite gritty and a bit harsh on the feet, just across the road are plenty of shops bars and clubs, the shops range from everything from cheap to chic, right from the i love barcelona t shirt up to armani, the train station is five mins walk up the road and a return to barcelona is around 10 euros, get there in good time for the train as there is only one ticket machine and there is generally a big queue the train journey is great as it runs right at the side of the sea but be warned it stops around 20 times before you get to barcelona, also on the way back make sure you get on the train that says blanes on the front, not much info at the train station im afraid, another good touch at the hotel is the spa which is free we booked in for an hour when the weather wasnt too great one day, it has a steam room and a sauna and huge whirlpool and all over body showers, the wifi is also free and is good all round the hotel including the rooms, all in all we really enjoyed staying here and were really happy with all the facilities provided but the icing on the cake was definitely the staff who made it even better, we would definitely recommend if you want an all inclusive thats small and a bit more personal but with all the benefits of a bigger hotel.

Room Tip: a room next to the campsite is quieter than the road side

Found this excellent value holiday via Travelzoo. Booking with Fleetway was simple, their online communications were easy to follow and we had contact numbers at every stage. Package holiday from East Mids to Girona included Ryan Air flights and transfers by FromTo to the resort of Santa Susanna. This is a fairly down at heel resort with not a great deal to do. However there's a promenade, market and a railway station with direct links to Barcelona - return ticket just euro 10.

The hotel was fantastic - top notch. It was right on the beautiful beach. Immaculate, contemporary decor, good size bathroom, wet room style with high power overhead shower, balcony with leather type seating and glass fronted. We went half board, the food was excellent, plenty of choice including full English breakfast and even your choice of steak / fish cooked on a hot plate for dinner, with pasta, pizza, hot roast and plentiful salad bar and deserts available each day. The staff were very friendly, helpful and easy to communicate with. Smiles all around and service was spot on. Drinks from the bar and at dinner were well priced.

If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing break in the sunshine in a kid-free environment, not wanting much beyond the confines of the hotel, then this is the holiday for you. Small spa inside and little pool, but excellent decked and paved area with comfortable sunbeds, private beach and beach bar.

We took the local train to Barcelona and would highly recommend this, as it stops right in the centre at Placa de Calunya where you can easily access all the main sights via the touristica bus.

One thing to watch out for is that the transfer doesn't take you directly to the hotel, you have to cross a road and railway to get to it. Hotel facilities were excellent, even toiletries and beach towels provided. for us, a weeks stay was enough and we would return for a short break.

Room Tip: We stayed in 506 excellent as rooms on that side of the hotel are not overlooked by another hotel, a...

Myself and bf have just returned from a lovely 3 night stay at the hotel. The fergus hotel is very modern (less than a year old) and the best hotel along the beach, as others are set behind the view for them isn't as great as a sea view. With being an adults only hotel (the only one in the area) this is a bonus as there wasn't no screaming kids. Seating area is located on the beach, 3 beds and loungers enough for everyone.

Bed room

Very modern, balcony out looking to a beautiful view of the beach room 617. Mini fridge. Nice spacious wardrobe. If an iron is required inform reception. TV as well, never watched as busy enjoying our holiday.

Food

Food is hit and miss, the variety of food is nice but was very disappointed on both evenings at dinner when both our meats were not cooked, the chef seemed to ask us if it was cooked then knowing himself, third night so fed up we went out. Service at dinner was ok each occasion we sat down we were never asked what we'd like I would have to get someone, at lunch we'd go with out a drink just to see. The restaurant wasn't busy!!

All inclusive

The all inclusive ness is the drinks and this is also limited. Certain cocktails are free whilst others are half price ( thought all inclusive was all drink free, nothing is stated on their website about this.) beer is free, certain wines, yet again some you have to pay, can only get one drink at a time.

Think about if this before booking in the long run.

Service by the pool

Never asked by the bar staff if we wanted a drink you'd have to go inside to the bar and order one.

This a good hotel for a short break, not wanting to be disturbed by children.

Just back after staying week here half board. Rooms great with lovely views on camp site side, room cleaned every day. Staff always friendly. A lot of effort has gone into upgrading this hotel you can check how it used to look by going on google maps. As for the food those people that give bad reviews must be real picky I am a fussy eater but found something tasty at all meals yes the food might not be that hot but there was a micro or if you timed it right till they brought a fresh batch from kitchen or just go for where the chef was cooking fresh in front of you. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The higher up the better also go for the south side.
