Just had a week in royal sun ,Been to santa susanna many times looked at hotel and always want to go there know been not what i expected.
1,Not disabled friendly, plenty of ramps around hotel to pool, garden area fine but to get to dinneing room take lift down staris if you can get wheel chair tough narrow doors once down you face 4 step steeps to dinneing room not possable to acsses.
2,Staff were very pleasant, hotel very clean, rooms cleaned everyday with clean towells.went all inculsive, food basic not allot of choice same every day fish, pork.or fish and veal, staff at bar well, day time 2 on onw serveing one cleaning had to wait 20/30 mins to get served.at night 4 on but with 400+ guests took age to get served,it was get served join cure and drink your drink waiting they give 1 glass card to get drinks and thats it,would i go back probly not. better going back santa sussanna resort.
3,Only reason its 4 star is becasue its right on beach,Becarefull if travelling with children as you get the unwanted sellers hang around hotel gardens at night trying to be frined children and sell them things.like laser points, and takeing money off them for goods not in boxes, and there is no security, also there are two pools and no lifegaurds floors around pool area become very slipper, and dangours to walk on,
4,Iwent on 04/04/13 Hotel right next door haveing refitted out from top to bottom inside out with jack hammers and bang from 07.00 to most nights 22.00,ask to be moved because of nosie and dust and was refused due to lack of space in hotel, but was told could up grade to suit at beach end of hotel for 250 euros for week ,

Room Tip: rooms over looking beach are great but cost double the ammount when you want change,If you get room...

We visited this hotel in April 2013 for a week all inclusive. I read the reviews before but still decided to book as it was the best deal we could find for under a grand for 3 people all inc in the Easter hols.

We arrived after a 40 min journey via the coach from Gerona airport. Weather overcast and rather chilly and my husband and 7 year old ambled down the rd with our cases over the bridge which led to our slightly dated looking hotel. On the right of the hotel another hotel is being built. Probably about 30 feet away from the balcony's of the Htop. I said to my partner 'we better not be in those rooms'..... and lo and behold we were.

At reception we were given a Key, not a card but a big old key on a key chain. I instantly thought of the London Dungeons.. Now, on entry to the room we had been given, bedspreads from 1973 greeted our arrival, bobbled and dirty and the room was filthy. Not a bit grubby, not only dated, but filthy. And we were facing the building site with local men waving jackhammers about. They smiled and waved as we looked forlornly from the brick balcony. Not good.

After going a tad demented with wet wipes I demanded my husband request another room while shoving the filthy wet wipe into his hand to show the management the evidence (before you read anymore let me point out I'm from THE NORTH and I clean caravans for a living so am NOT fussy)

We were offered the last vacant room in the hotel opposite the lifts and the train line facing the main road and decided to take it as it was larger and brighter and didn't face the construction site. The room alas was still filthy. Grime was etched into the bathroom, the floor had hairballs floating along the tiles like mini tumbleweeds and the dust attached to the metal bed legs was about an inch deep. I kid you not.

After I had stopped banging my head against the tiles, I gathered my cardi and menfolk and went down to look at the rest of the Titanic.

And onto the food....

If you like pork stay here. if you don't....tough. There were also salads and lots of cake, soup is hot but alas that's the only thing that is. It was a buffet, it was ok, it got boring but all buffets do after a week. Staff were pleasant and the customers greedy.

Onto the drink...

You have to take 4 cards to the bar to get 2 drinks, they take 2 off you and then you have to bring your glasses back for a refill. You could see worried men searching for the glass they put down so they could get a refill. It was like a scene from 'Oliver'. Local spirits are very low in alcohol so stick to the wine which is fine. Ask for DARK Rum as its the only thing that has a high alcohol content as my husband found out. Big queues at the bar with only one staff member usually.

Entertainment....

Kids clubs fine, Whitney was the kids rep and happily took them on the beach to play footy and danced with them at night. My boy loved it as the hotel was packed with kids on Easter hols.
Night time adult entertainment dire..lol.

Weather...

Great after the 2nd day, early 20's and most people got brown.

Pool....

Freezing! Only the kids went in

Location.....

Great! Right on the beach and 2 min walk to shops.

All in all we had a good holiday because the sun shone and we don't mind pork The room WAS noisy and filthy. Sheets never changed...you could hear the trains and hamering from the building site and a grate in the road banged continuously as cars passed over it but we got used to all this as the days wore on. On the last 2 nights we had a noisy idiot in the room next door who insisted on shouting abuse from his balcony at 3am but hey ho... that's short men for you.

Would we go back to the hotel?? NO......but we took it for what it was, had a laugh in a hotel that had given up the ghost (what IS on the 7th floor????) and I'm positive has not been updated since it was built in the 70's. We donned our flares and wore dark glasses to avoid the dirt and drank cheap wine and ate too many cakes and had fun.

(One trip that you must go on is the Medieval night. Great fun and good value!)

And that was our trip. Hasta Luago!

Small rooms but very clean- someone came in everyday to clean floors, bathroom etc. All inclusive package is a great deal. There was plenty of food, and though not particularly varied each day, was of a high standard. i would be amazed if anyone could not find something they like. Staff were helpful particularly in the bar and restaurant. We liked the bar system - it meant that the bar was always clean and tidy and you never had to sit at a table with other peoples' empty glasses and cups. The hotel is right on the beach and is quiet at night. We had a seaview and the train/disco did not bother us as this was at the back of the hotel. Evening entertainment was adequate and varied. On the whole, we had a great holiday and for the money feel that this hotel was excellent value for money. We have never been on an all inclusive holiday before and this was a positive experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a see view - quiet and you get the morning sun in your balcony.

We booked this 4 day break 1 week before we went. The details on travel republic omitted to advise that the hotel had a train line running in front of it. When we arrived at the hotel we were dumped with cases the other side of the rail lines with no one to help us with cases etc. As I have mobility problems this was a major set back. We had to walk to an underpass, go down quite a few steps and then walk up steps the other side or use a long ramp and then find your way to the hotel. The hotel had steps going up into it but did have a lift halfway up for cases. Inside the hotel was quite nice. We where allocated our room which was not what was requested but we took it anyway. The room was by the lift and this could be heard all day and night. We asked for another room and was told they where fully booked. The room was quite nice and clean but the bathroom was very tired. In fact the whole hotel was very dated and in need of updating. We where issued with 2 cards each, 1 for I.D and the other to get your drinks. At the bar you gave both cards and the green drinks card was kept by the barman until you gave the glasses back. Drinks where served in half pint plastic glasses. My husband and many other guys moaned about this as we could under stand plastic glasses round the pool but not in the bar. The queue for drinks was sometimes so long and it took 20 mins to get a drink. The seating area in the bar was very 70's uncomfortable and dated. Plus not enough seating area for the amount of people staying there. The hotel had a lounge area which had a very stale cigarette smell and the furniture was dated and some even split. It had a small television which considering the size of the area was quite inadequate. I would not stay at this hotel again as it was not what we would have booked from choice. The staff were O.K. except for one man on the reception who was very rude. We had left our television on in the room by mistake and through the ID card we had found us sitting on one of the 2 settees in the reception. His attitude stank and when we got up to go and see the problem he followed us to the lifts still mouthing off, so much so that my husband had a job to control his temper with him. However, I did report him the next day and the reception was very apologetic about him and was going to have a word with him when he returned to work. Unfortunately we had gone home by then. As I stated before this hotel was not for anyone with mobility problems due to being left the other side of the railway and having to find the hotel by walking as the coach driver could not understand english or didn't want to. We went away to meet friends and celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Room Tip: Best to not go unless they update the hotel and move the train lines.

just returned from a weeks holiday here. About what i expected to be honest. Went with hubby and our 2 kids, aged 9 and 11. Hotel dated, but not too bad. We paid £238 each, which included flights, transfers and hotel, all inclusive, so all in all it was a great deal!! Our room was at the back of the hotel and the first 3 nights were very noisy at around 2-3am, with people coming out of the night club opposite and being very noisy (I was one of those once, so wont complain too much lol). Also the train track is just behind the hotel, however, this didnt really bother me and it was actually very handy being able to hop on and off the train if you want to explore different resorts. The hotel is right on the beach which is lovely. Lots of nice shops n bars very close by. Room was average, but comfortable and the kids had a proper single bed each and not just a crappy old sofa bed, so this was a bonus. Staff were helpful. Food was what i had expected. It depends how fussy you are, if not fussy at all then you will eat well. Drinks were ok and the daily cocktail was always good. Kids enjoyed the Kids club activites. For the money this was a good holiday. Had 3 sunny days out of the 7 days.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view room, this would make your holiday, also ask for a room on floor 1 or 2, we spent...

Honest assessment of this Hotel.........

Of the opinion don't really care what people write on these review sites as I kind of like to find out for myself, however do agree with some of the points made on here having recently returned from a weeks fully inclusive stay here.

Have to say I think the bar system is excellent, however very busy at times and ques likely but I guess it slows down the drinking culture and brave ness of some guests which can also prevent trouble occurring ensuring all can enjoy.

Food could have been better, some of the meals cold & dry and not really a great selection to choose from (my opinion), although have to say the pork on the bone was to die for very tender.

Overall the Hotel is in need of refurbishment and no way in this state should it be classed as a 4*
Bit misleading having stayed in other H Top Hotel of the 4* rating.

Good points - location, cleaners were excellent, staff were helpful and pleasant, always hot water.

Bad points - food not great, rooms dated, lifts if you on 6/7th floor.

Room Tip: Corner suites higher level should be good
