“Friendly resort but nothing local”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

Sunningdale Village is a small resort with exceptionally friendly staff. The complex is made up of a circle of two story apartments each with garden and garden furniture or balcony. 3 of us stayed in a one bedroom apartment. Everything you could need was provided including dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. It wasn't particularly hot when we went but the fan in the living room wasn't able to cool the room to a comfortable temperature at night. Really could benefit from air conditioning. The bed in the bedroom was so hard that neither of my travelling companions slept well. There is a TV in the room with all the main channels including 5 and the Disney Channel.
The gardens were very well kept as was the pool. The pool is divided into two halves with one half having depths of 1.4 meters and the other being 2 meters. I was pleasantly surprised that the pool was very warm. Sun beds were plentiful and you can get one easily any time of the day. The resort provide pool towels at no cost. As pervious reviews state the airplanes are frequent and low but you really do get used to them quickly. If you are sitting on the right hand side of the plane you will see Sunningdale as you come into land.
The on site restaurant, although a few pounds more expensive than those locally served food which was of a very good quality. The little on site does bake fresh croissants in the morning but these were sold out by 8.30 every day.
All staff without exception were friendly with a good level of English but really do appreciate it if you try to communicate in Spanish.
There is a courtesy bed that runs infrequently to Los Cristianos. It is cheap but you might need to find other ways of getting back if you want to return between 1pm and 6 pm. Taxi journey is about €17 -€20.
Locally there is very little to do. There are a couple of restaurants nearby and there are some a 10-15 minute walk away in San Blas which has a delightful buzzing square with several good restaurants but that is about all. Los Abrigos took us about 30 minutes to walk to along the coast. Here there are more restaurants but again not a huge amount. There are no bathing beaches nearby.
Would I go back again? Probably not due to the location but I have no complaints with Sunningdale.

Had great week here in a very comfortable, clean, small apartment. There were others bigger on site, but we didn't need anything large. This was a Club la Costa promotion week and once we had said we did not want to sign up to anything more the staff very readily accepted this and we were not made to sit through a lengthy sales pitch.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The pool was beautifully clean and in pleasant gardens. The onsite restaurant was excellent and there were lots of restaurants nearby - particularly at Los Abrigos which was full of wonderful places to eat fresh fish.
The only downside was that it is very near to the airport and there were planes constantly flying low over the resort. This did stop at night but started early in the morning again. I was also disappointed to find there was no gym on site.

Spent 7 days here with young grandchildren. Facilities were very good with well fitted out accommodation, beautiful gardens and helpful, friendly staff. Planes were not a problem, on the contrary my 4 year old grandson loved them ! Surrounding area is good for walking, also good eating out. Local bus service is excellent for going further afar to Los Cristanios, Las Americas, or El Medano. Would not hesitate going back.

We have had a few nice holidays here, mainly when the kids were smaller. On the last visit I found the complex to be a little tired, I know there is constant refurbishment going on but it just looked like the Sunningdale had seen better days. The noise of planes flying low to the nearby airport may bother people, although I always get used to it after a couple of days. Car is 100% necessary. Lovely, kind staff.

Thank you for comments. It is always much appreciated when our hard-working staff are praised for their efforts. We do have an ongoing refurbishment programme, which involves updating of interior décor and furnishings and a team of maintenance men and gardeners who work very hard on our gardens and exterior areas and I do hope that should you visit us again you will see the impact of the work. We wish you well on your future holidays.

This resort village has condo style accommodations. We had a one-bedroom with a kitchen which included a fridge, stove, micro-wave, dishwasher, laundry machine but no dryer. The unit was clean and modern, but cramped and basic by North American standards. The staff were very friendly and anxious to be of help. There is a large family pool area with a schedule of free activities during the day and entertainment at night. There is a restaurant on the premises that is ok, or there are many other choices within easy walking distance, including waterfront dining. It's no more than a ten minute walk to the waterfront. We followed the shoreline trail for a few miles, which is quite scenic and will take you into a quaint fishing village, called Los Abidos. Unfortunately, there are no sandy beached in the immediate area. So on our beach days, we would need to make a twenty minute drive, to the popular area beaches. That would be my only knock on the total experience.

My wife and i have just returned from a weeks holiday in Tenerife, based at the Sunningdale Village resort. We found the resort excellent in terms of accommodation (we had a one-bed apartment), facilities and restaurant. As it is a small resort, it feels intimate and better for that (in September, we were not fighting for sun loungers!).
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the resort was kept exceptionally clean and tidy, with excellent service. The only gripes are the resort's location near to the airport, which was noisy at night occasionally disturbing sleep, and that there are no beaches nearby, so you need a hire car (we had one) to get out and about and to explore the island.

Have just returned from a one week Promotional Holiday at CLC World,Sunningdale Village. This promotional holiday was offered to us for £99 (flights not included) and we had 57 euro's credited to our account which could be spent in the mini supermarket on site or in the restuarant. The allocated apartment was excellent with all the facilities you could ever require when self catering.Fridge/freezer,washing machine,dishwasher...in fact just about everything you would have in your own home. The only downside for us was that the beds where a little too firm for our liking. We also had air conditioning

We attended our promotional meeting on the Monday after arriving on the Friday. We where collected at 10pm and taken to Paradise Village for an excellent breakfast. After a look around at various rooms we could stay in in the future we went along to the meeting. There was no hard sell,so stroppy salesman.....every thing was clear and very tempting if you are interested in joining. Personal circumstances made it impossible for us to commit ourselves to joining CLC World. We where back in Sunningdale Village at around 3pm.

If you are offered this promotional holiday with CLC World you should not listen to any horror stories about Sunningdale village.Yes planes do fly overhead(you are very close to the airport),but they didnt bother us.....they were not so noisy as most make out.....and they did not stop me sleeping.I only saw 3 large cockroaches during the stay.....I have been to other countries were they are much worse. The apartments are not infested with them or infested with anything else for that matter.

There are rules and regs for use of the pool but quite a few people take no notice and still dive in.The life guards let it carry on.

The food in the restaurant is excellent but there are much cheaper places to eat close by...but you take your chances. We had some good meals out but also some bad.The Mill is an good choice for Fish and Chips and is only 2 minutes walk from the complex.

The evening entertainment was good and the daytime activities a laugh but not many joined in the fun during our stay.

A relaxing week for us which is just how we like it.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. Our excellent value promotional holidays give us the opportunity to show our guests the sort of holiday experiences that they can enjoy with us and we aim to make our presentations both interesting and informative. But there is no obligation on anyone to purchase or join anything and I was glad to see that you found your time with us relaxing.
