“Another 5 star stay at Sandos San Blas!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2014

This is our third stay at this hotel and we are never disappointed!
The resort is clean, spacious and well maintained. It was at full capacity during our stay but it never felt crowded. With 7 pools and a varied choice of seating areas and bars, there is a relaxing atmosphere. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and all in good condition.
The room we had was well appointed and cleaned to a high standard daily. Very comfy beds.
The waiting and bar staff were all pleasant and helpful with no exceptions. The quality of the service provided by these staff really makes the difference- first class.
The food was varied, fresh and constantly replenished. Plenty of choice, even for fussy eaters. My partner is lactose intolerant and had no problems finding a great choice to suit either.
I agree with previous reviews, this can be a windy resort but there are Bielded areas to be found and the wind is off no fault of the management!!
There are adult only area in restaurant and 2 adult only pools if you like peace and quiet, which we do.
The main evening entertainment never really appealed to us, mostly tribute singing acts however they appeared to be well received by others at hotel.there is now live music in the lobby bar each night and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of sitting there.
The resort is located a 10 min drive from the airport and is approx 20 min drive to Los Americas. This resort is suited to people looking for a quiet relaxing holiday. There is no local nightlife to speak off.
All in all I really can't fault sandos and can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are the best in my opinion.

Stayed at the resort for a week at the start of June. The food was excellent, wide variety to suit any and all. You will never be struggling for a sunbed as there are so many pools all equally great. The staff are friendly and helpful throughout the hotel. Very relaxing atmosphere and we will be back. Cant fault anything.

Room Tip: I would advise a lake view as apposed to a pool view.

We had a 10 night all inclusive break at the beginning of May.

From the outside the hotel looks a little drab and uninviting but once you step through the doors it couldn't be more different. The rooms are well appointed, beds comfy and room service everyday without fail. The staff are friendly, but not intrusive.

We never had a problem getting a sunbed at our pool of choice (the one with a pool bar!).

The food was excellent, I can be a bit of a fussy eater but always found something to my taste, food was replenished all the time and there was so much choice.

The tour of the museum and nature reserve is well worth the 7.50 euros!!

This has got to be one of the best all inclusive holidays we have had. I'm not normally one to go back to a place twice but I would definitely return here again.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

Spent a week at Sandos San Blas from 27th May - 3rd June with wife and 2 young kids (7&4). Landed around 6pm on 27th May and jumped into a cab - 15 Eur for a 10 min journey. Hotel check-in was quick (for an upmarket resort - would have expected a cold face towel and a welcome drink) and shown to our room which was on the lake-side wing A. Had specifically booked a junior suite and requested a location close to the bottom pool and main restaurant and this room was certainly not one of the closest they could have allocated to us - we put it down to the half-term week and it was a pleasant enough suite so didn't feel the need to request a move.

The member of staff who showed us to the room didn't know how to work the air conditioning unit and neither did he offer to take us on a quick tour of the amenities on site.

Generally the room facilities were as expected; however I observed some particularly poor workmanship - under sink water leak, broken card holder, secondary shower which didn't function throughout our stay, shower drain that was partially blocked and an occasional toilet smell in the main bedroom when we got back to the room in the afternoon...certainly not 5* quality and having reported these issues on 2 occasions, they were fixed but not to the standard I would expect at a 5* resort. :-(
Room cleaning was a little hasty and missed a few obvious areas. It was a large suite that would have required at least 2 cleaners to ensure a thorough job on a daily basis, but there was only a single cleaner during our stay.

Meals: Didn't try the Al a Carte Restaurant - thanks to my 7 year old who didn't find anything attractive on the menu. Had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main buffet restaurant. Plenty of choice of seafood, meats and salads. Best nights for us were the Chinese and Mexican nights. Felt the menu could be rotated a little more to give the mains more variety during the week and the grills could do with some marinated meats/fish and some seasoning. All in all though the menu was vast and always found something good to eat. Desserts however were mostly the same throughout the week and got a little tired of these after 3 days. Cleanliness in the restaurant could be improved and a TV with kids programmes on in one of the sections would be highly appreciated by parents!

Lots of fun activities - beach volleyball, kayaking on the lake, rifle shooting, aqua gym and swimming in the 2 relatively warm pools.

Evening entertainment was generally good - loved the Michael Jackson show and both the acrobatics acts. The bands weren't our scene so had a few drinks in the lobby bar instead.

All in all - had a great week and the kids thoroughly enjoyed their week at Sandos.

Now for some of the minor gripes apart from the ones mentioned above:
- pool towels had to be changed in reception - I found this frustrating and this could be shifted to one of the central pool areas which would be far more convenient for all.
- drinking water was freely available in all the bars and the restaurant - however, on arrival there were no bottles in the fridge. I would expect at least a couple of bottles of drinking water to be provided in the room on arrival.
- kids club - there could have been a lot more variety in the activities to keep the kids entertained - especially the older ones. This was evident for the first 4 days of our stay - however, the activities improved dramatically once the new animation team arrived towards the end of the half-term week.
- courtesy room - we checked out at noon and our flight was at 6pm hence we requested a courtesy room to freshen up before we departed for the airport - the room allocated was absolutely disgusting - had been used by a previous occupant and not been cleaned before being offered to us - wouldn't expect this in a high grade resort - the toilets by the pools and bars were much cleaner than those in the courtesy room.

Wind: it seems that the strong winds continue to buffett this part of the island regularly and it made it very cold getting out of the pool and on some days even just sitting by the pool despite the strong sunshine! Blew away drinks and towels regularly.

Beach: The hotel beach is accessed by crossing a road - unfortunately it is not much of a beach at all - full of black volcanic pebbles so if you are looking for a beach front hotel this isn't the place for you.

Don't let any of these points put you off booking your next trip to Sandos San Blas - we had a great week and would certainly recommend this resort to all. We booked this hotel in the British Airways sales, so feel we got what we paid for.

Room Tip: LA and LB Junior Suites on the 1st Floor are a great choice.

We had a really lovely relaxing break here mid march. Myself, husband, nearly 5 year old & 18 month old. Having never done all inclusive before we thought this hotel offered a great deal of choice & made meal times with the kids really easy, if they didn't like something you just chose something else! Similar! Drinks, cava, cocktails all yummy! We would take cocktails back to our room on an evening when the kids were in bed. Rooms, we had a suite, overlooking the lake...it was gorgeous! Loads of space, always cleaned to an immaculate standard (as all areas of the hotel were) & a fab, safe balcony with a lovely bed as well as seats & table.
I'd recommend doing the nature trail, we all enjoyed it, although I guess in the height of summer you'd need to pick your time of day as you are out in the direct sun for a good hour. They had baby back pack carriers which was great.
Overall a fab chilled holiday. It does seem a windy spot but then not much the hotel can do about that! Would really love to go again. We met another young family there who were on their seventh trip so says it all really!

Recently visited the San Blas and had a nice holiday but its not a 5 star more like a 4 star, To me I think the hotel is badly layed out, our room was on the forth floor and to get to the restaurant and main pools we had to use two lifts walking towards the reception which was away from the restaurant and pools to the first lift down to 2nd floor to the next lift down through the garage -1 floor which nobody told us about as my wife has a bad leg walking with a walking stick.
Having said all that we found the pool area very good with heated pool and also adult only pool, the food was a bit lacking I.E. streaky fat bacon, you would think being a5 star they could afford back bacon , evening the veg was a bit lacking and the same cheese every night, the choice of salads and sweets was very good and the restaurant had adult sections which was very good, the staff were very friendly especially Anna at the door.
The entertainment was a bit hit and miss down stairs at night, the bedrooms where very nice and big with BBC and ITV programmes if you like that kind of thing on holiday, I don't.

Room Tip: Better off with 3rd floor or below if you have difficulty in walking.

We booked suite nummer 606 in thuis hotel for 5 days. It is a suite on the top floor and in the back of the hall, so very quiet. The suite was equipped with two bad rooms, two toilets, two bidets, a living room, minibar, two terrasses, two televisions, airconditioning and two safes. The room was perfect and very clean!
People at the reception are very helpful and friendly. You receive a map of the hotel itself and a map of Tenerife. The ander all your questions.
The lounge bar is very cosy. Evert night a singer comes by, but you can also sit in the second room, if you prefer to pass for the singing. The menu shows all drinks included in the all-inclusive formula. For Some drinks yout have to pay extra (for example: for real coke-drinks you have to pay €1 extra). Keep this in mind if you're not a Pepsi drinker (like me). However a lot of drinks are included, such as cava, monito, gin...... A lot of choice.
There are over 8 Pools in the hotel. The way the organized it is amazing. They manage to combine very silent spots with Pools for families with kids. NeXT to the Pools below They organized entertainment, kids club and toys, so all families automatically gasthered There. Result: Pools on top became sort of adults only zone.
The restaurant is amazing. The buffet is overwhelming. Very good food, varying from the saladbar to italian cornor with pizza. You also have a meat corner and a fish corner. Very good! Also in the restaurants you have two zones for adults only.
The Spa is very good. We booked an wellness arrangement and af we days later a single massage. You schold do it! Very friendly people and relaxend arrangements.
It was an amazing stay. One little negatieve something: WiFi didn't always work, especially around diner time. Possibly too many people are using it around that time.
