“Just returned from this hotel 15th June”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Hotel and setting is lovely,we had a room very close to the main hotel on the ground floor which did not get any sun.Make sure you ask for a room about half down the complex.Rooms are spacious and as the pictures portrait.
Food good, fresh and plentiful along side the cava on tap a great bonus.
Down sides were the evning entertaiment was dyer!! my local school could have done better certainly the worst animatiom team I have seen. The lobby bar is lifeless .So not much going on in the evening.
Lastly you are offered a free meal in the ala carte restaurant which is has little choice, and not as good a standard as the main buffett very disappointing.
All said would go back when you know which rooms to pick.

Room Tip: Do not accept room302A.

Not sure whether some of the posters below were at the same resort as me over the last few weeks because my opinion of the San Blas is somewhat different to others.

Whilst not being perfect in all respects, the hotel’s benefits are directly related to what you pay for.....the San Blas offers good value all inclusive facilities at a price which is difficult to better elsewhere. You can pay over twice the price at other resorts and get far better service and facilities, but at these prices you will struggle to get better.

One of the things to improve is the drinks service in the buffet restaurant. We were always served our initial glass of wine promptly upon arriving, but always had to ask for more rather than being automatically topped up. Restaurant staff are very busy clearing tables to allow incoming diners to get a clean table, so it is understandable that diners already seated have to ask, but it can be a minor irritation.

Food in the buffet restaurant is varied and excellent quality...I am not sure what some previous posters are used to eating but only those who want cod in batter or burgers every night would complain! We were there for two weeks and even declined our second visit to the ‘a la carte’ restaurant in favour of the excellent buffet. The fish dishes in particular were superb, beautifully cooked and always fresh and tasty.

To the posters below who moan about hard beds or lack of tea making facilities the answer is ....just ask! The beds were a little too hard for our liking and a quick phone call to reception solved the problem. We were given a choice of either a new (softer) mattress or a mattress topper....easy!

A kettle etc was provided too after simply asking for one. So was an iron and ironing board for the duration of the holiday. One tip about electrical goods like irons and kettles I would add though is to make sure they are plugged into the socket in the bathroom only. If you plug them in anywhere else, they will blow the rooms fuses. That’s Spanish electrical work I suppose!

The Sandos group is owned by a Mexican company with hotels in Mexico as well as Tenerife, Spain and Lanzarote. To the poster who says the hotel looks like a prison, they should accept that bare plaster rendering such as this is typical of the Mexican theme. Whilst becoming slightly frayed around the edges in some parts, the hotel is clean and tidy and will perhaps benefit from a lick of paint in some rooms.

I could not let my comments pass without mention of the wind. Not the hotel’s fault of course, but the resort is built in a pretty exposed, desolate piece of land and, boy, does the wind blow! Apparently it was exceptional for it to be so strong, but it was windy enough to uproot poolside umbrellas and send them tumbling across the pool area at times. One tip my wife asked me to pass on is that her hair grips were put to good use anchoring the towels to our sunbeds...very useful to avoid the annoyance of a loose beach towel! During the day the wind was welcome relief at times to the heat of the day but at night it made it cold enough for the animation team to move entertainment back indoors.

I have to say that the entertainment in the evenings was poor. We learned to avoid it most of the time although the ‘Queen’ tribute band were so awful that they actually verged on being the most entertaining part of the holiday! The girls who work on the animation team work very hard during the day for those who want to take part in aqua gym, shooting, football, rock climbing, pilates among many other activities so full marks there I guess.

Overall, the San Blas offers a relaxing, value for money holiday and very good all inclusive facilities. The resort is not like those in the Maldives or the Caribbean, but you are not going to pay those sort of prices. Go and enjoy it...just be prepared to relax and ask for what you want!

Room Tip: A block gets sunshine long into the evenings

never written a review before but after our recent stay had to take the time to scribble a few words
we travelled as a family and booked a suite the rooms were huge and immaculate the food was very good and plenty of choice not sure about the previous reviews that said meat was not good tasted fine to us the staff were fantastic especially the kids club christina and mellissa in particular
nothing was to much trouble the hotel does look a bit austere on arrival but we only saw it as we came or left so no biggy the place is kept immaculate even the poolsides bleached every morning drinks were ok small glasses for the beer no pint glasses but hey you just ask for two lol
it was a bit chilly in the evening for outside entertainment we mentioned it to the manager david not only did he take notice but brought a heater to the entertainment area that night then moved it back inside first class management and staff only one niggle no drinks in the mini bar not even water would be nice especially if you've got kids ask about the dads club run in conjunction with the kids club christina has the details

Room Tip: suites fantastic rooms overlooking the lake quitter with the best views

This was our first visit in Tenerife with my fiance and this hotel was a great choice! From check in till check out they do everything to please you! Everybody is very friendly (especially Veronika on reception) and helpful! The hotel is spotless clean, the food is great!
We ate only in buffet, which has really great choices! A bit let down, that the pools are clising at 7 pm, so if you have a day out, you can not lay in the pool. But there are great sandy beaches around (Las Americas, Los Christianos) If anyone ask me if I want to come back to this hotel, my answer is: I did not want to check out! Def. we will be back!

I went to this hotel with my husband & 2 year old daughter. Overall we had a lovely time. I will start with the positives! We stayed in Block A and had sunshine on our balcony from about 2pm in to late evening. We upgraded our room to a suite which was well worth it ! Lovely to have a separate bedroom & Lounge! 2 tvs. 2 bathrooms which was also helpful! 2x smll double beds pushed together but made up separately/ to small to share for us 5ft10 &5ft8 so ended up slerping separately & the beds were really hard!!!!! ! Walk in wardrobe was fab! Loads of space! It is quite windy as you are on a hill, but when it's hot the wind is lovely! The staff were replacing all the sun beds while we were there which was great as the old ones were terrible! Most Staff were friendly. Pools lovely, bit chilly at times! Food not our type at all. All vegetables cooked in tons of salt! Meat fatty & grisly, vegetarian selection consisted of odd things like green beans in tomato sauce, Brussel sprouts in garlic sauce etc! The puddings all tasted the same but in different colours and shapes! No cheese & biscuits except Edam type which is sweaty and warm on the side! Breakfast was the best meal. Cereals, sticky croissants, fresh bread was lovely & sometimes warm if you got in early enough. Eggs either over or under cooked!!! But my biggest complaint - No fresh orange juice!!! Only awful insipid sugary juice!!! (Even my daughter refused to drink it!!! Location- nothing around the complex at all . We had a buggy with us too so even a 30 min walk to the nearest "village" was tough! Had to carry her & buggy over lots of rocks/steps!!! Not for the faint hearted! Disappointed that there was no drinks in the mini fridge. (Worked out something like £10 a day for 4-5 cans) the 5* we have stayed in normally provide these as standard especially in the suites! My daughter was to young for the "kids club" but we asked for 1 sheet on plain paper for her" we already had bought crayons) and was told no! So she cried when seeing all the other kids happily colouring in. I then bought a 4 page colouring book for 8 euros in their shop! Not friendly at all!!!!!!! Also we thought their would be some service for a 5* - waiter service- drinks etc. we are not used to getting our own coffee. High chair etc. having said that the staff in the restaurant were really friendly - my daughter loved the manager/supervisor?suited Tall , dark hair glasses! )

Room Tip: Go for a suite! Worth the upgrade! Plus top floor nice & quiet!

We would like to thank you for your positive comments and suggestions that make us feel obliged to keep on working hard to improve our service day by day.
We would like to remind that we have fresh juice at breakfast every day and you can order fresh orange juice as well with an special price if you are with A.I. basis also we are surprised you did not see the 4 different types of cheese that there are at the salads buffet at lunch and dinner service as well as the other 4 different kind ones at the breakfast service (all together at least 8 different types everyday).
About the issue you commented at the mini-club we really want to apologize and being honest we want to believe that they did not understand you since everybody knows that our mini-club team is extremely friendly with kids and parents and we do not think that there is such a big deal on giving you a sheet of paper, nevertheless we are very sorry if that situation made you, and your daughter, feel bad.
Once again thank you very much four all your comments and suggestions and at the same time we would like to take this occasion to invite you to visit our website to book your next holiday at the best price.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Came home yesterday from a 10 day stay at the Sando's San Blas and had very high expections after reading the reviews on here. Unfortunately a majority of them I cannot agree with.
I have stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels over the years and this cannot be classed as a 5 star by far. Although the niggles are minor, I would not expect this at a 5 Star hotel.
On arrival the hotel looked very much like a prison, like the walls had been plastered and not finished. There are no pretty flowers around the resort and very drab to look at.
We arrived at 11.30am and was told that our room was not ready? This has never happened to me in my lifetime of staying in hotels and most certainly not a 5 star one. We went and had a drink at the bar and waited the few hours for our room to be ready. Once we were shown here (we paid for a sea view) the room was lovely but you had to stand on the balcony and look left to see any of the sea. we didnt complain after having to wait over 2 hours we couldnt be bothered.
The food was very drab and more often than not cold. Absolutely no taste to anything and all pastries were covered in a gloopy glaze which spoilt the taste. Only one day did we have an alternative to chips and that was mashed potato. The variety of salad wasn't too special and the bread station was generally empty. We also had issues with the table being cleared in between courses and generally left with our plates and bowls still on the table. On one occasion we had nearly finished our meal before we were asked if we wanted a drink? Not acceptable in my view.
There is a couple of nice adult only area's in the restaurant which was appreciated as awful lot of very loud children running riot.
The cleanliness of the room wasnt what was expected either, on 2 occasion's there was a dirty flannel left on the floor of the shower which tells me the cleaner didnt clean the shower on either occasion. I also killed a mosquito on the mirror on the first night we were there and this never moved for the duration of our stay, again not acceptable.
I'm not really sure on how the 5 star was awarded to this hotel, if it was 3/4 star then it would have been acceptable in some circumstances.
Despite all of the comment's, we had a great relaxing stay. weather was a bit iffy but nothing we could have done about that.
Pool area's were lovely although water very cold. Use the adult only pools as the kiddies ones are like glorified blackpool!!!
Not sure I would recommend, unless of course they up their game on the small things.

We would like to thank you for all your positive comments and suggestions and at the same time we would like to explain that checkout time is 12 and we need a couple of hours to clean the room so check in time here and at every hotel in Spain is 2 p.m. nevertheless every time that we have availability (and these days is not the case) we are very glad to give you the room earlier than 2 p.m., and about the flowers we are very proud of our endemic species which make our hotel unique, like it is explained in our environmental reserve tour.
Please be sure that we will take very good care of every suggestion you made, and we will keep on working hard to try to improve day by day but keeping the same value for money that we have actually.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

We had a short stay at the beginning of June and arrived just in time for lunch - it was sunny, the salad choice was good what was not to like?. The rooms were definitely 5 star and the grounds were spotless however there's a few other things that aren't up to 5 star standard - Its a 4 star really. The food in the buffet style restaurant is generally good (we didn't get to eat in the a la carte(s) as you get one stay a week and ours was a 4 day stop) however there is a general blandness to the produce - the cheeses etc. are not as good as ones we've had at numerous other Balearic and mainline Spanish resorts. The wine and beer are very good for all inclusive. The service needs sharpening up a bit - we spent quite a few times trying to get attention of waiters and waitresses - this is probably a training issue. There are a few things that need smartening up - wicker seats that need repair, branded tables where the branding is peeling off - place mats with branding placed constantly upside down so it reads SODNAS ..I know minor gripes but this place is just one of many where people can spend their hard earned cash so it just needs a bit more care and attention. The site itself is quite small and as other folk have said there's not much to do nearby. Location wise it's only a cheap taxi ride away from the airport so that's handy, however if you're there for more than a week I think you'd probably want to get a car and go to Loro Park and Siam Park (both excellent from previous visits to the island)
All in all I would recommend it as long as you are not expecting 5-star food and service and want a nice week to relax in the sun.
