“Two Weeks of Bliss!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

We arrived at the Sandos San Blas late at night & were greeted by Reception. Our check in was quick & easy & our porter led us to a lovely sea view room. It really as you see in the brochures. A large, spacious, clean and modern room with comfortable firm beds & flat screen TV. Two glass walls in the bathroom (which can be screened off), whirlpool bath, separate shower, couple sinks and a separate toilet compartment. If you ask for a kettle and cups - you can make tea and coffee in your room (we did ask for this, as we found this surprisingly lacking). The dining room is large and well lit as well as very clean. Wonderful food in copious amounts for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are Adults only areas, which we used as often as there was space, as there were a lot of under 5's there when we were there.... The staff are wonderful without exception throughout the hotel. We stayed in room 502 and had the best maid to clean our room that we have had anywhere in the world. She was scrupulously clean and very, very thorough each and every day. Fantastic!

Well worth a mention is the Nature Park beside the hotel. The chap that runs the walk is knowledgeable, friendly, professional and has a marvellous command of English. It only costs 7.50 Euros each and you will have one of the best mornings you have had anywhere! Cannot recommend this trip enough to you. Book it at Reception before you book any of the Holiday Rep's tours. It's brilliant.

Sadly, the animation team were haphazard, unorganised and unprofessional. They consistently arranged e.g. boules/volleyball/rifle shooting/table tennis at the same time in the afternoon - so you could only go to one thing each afternoon - which was bad. Also, if it started at 3pm, you could expect the Animation Team Member to arrive at least 10 and probably 15 minutes late! The Animation Team Manager was interested in his Pilates classes (which 3 - 5 people attended) and the once a week "Evening Show". He seldom was seen checking on his team members at any other event during the day. Bear in mind - we had two weeks to form the above opinion. Take plenty of books and be prepared to fill your days some other way.

The hotel is on the flight path to the airport. Planes woke us up most mornings around 0604 - 0610 and zoomed in and out of the airport most days. That aside, the hotel is so good, we think it's worth putting up with the noise pollution and will return to the hotel again in the future.

Room Tip: Pay extra to get a sea view room. It's worth it!

We spent an extremely relaxing 7 nights here from the 15th March, the requirement when booking in a chilly December was to find some warm sunshine with Spring just around the corner in the UK, and both the hotel and weather came up trumps.

There are many previous reviews covering all aspects of the hotel that perfectly demonstrate what a good hotel this is, from the food, the drinks, the layout, the staff and we can only agree with the vast majority of comments.

There may be minor niggles over no tea and coffee in the room, which might not fit the bill in the UK, but perhaps in the Canaries it's not such an issue, it certainly was not for us and was not going to detract from what really was an excellent holiday hotel. The All Inclusive package really meant you struggled to spend anything extra, save for the odd newspaper, but even these were available to read f.o.c. in the lobby bar.

There can be a lot of walking here, but there are always ramps and paths around the steps for pushchairs etc, so don't let that put you off and the ability to eat outside for breakfast, lunch and dinner was a delight as the warm Canarian sunshine finally banished those winter blues (then to return to the UK to 2c in March)!

Go and enjoy the Sandos San Blas, embrace what the hotel offers and stop worrying about too small bathrobes, no kettle, AI that finishes at 11.00pm, relax and enjoy, you will not be disappointed.

Traveled as a couple from 8th March - 18th March, and loved every moment of the holiday. It was a dream holiday and worth every penny... As they say you get what you pay for, and this hotel is a true example of that. Stayed in a junior suite (6001/2) which was perfect, having a separate lounge, two bathrooms, large bedroom, and double balcony with double sun lounger to have the privacy of sunbathing on your spacious balcony. The buffet restaurant and food was great, we thoroughly enjoyed every meal and both of us being fussy eaters they must be doing something right and then to be greeted by Christina every meal time was so welcoming, she is so polite, well mannered and she is a credit to the San Blas Hotel. Drinks from the bar always great, never having to wait to be served and all branded spirits, fantastic cocktails and house wine. The Sandos San Blas Hotel is a truly remarkable place, a relaxing holiday, and the work the staff and management put in is outstanding. It was my partners birthday during our stay and received a birthday cake from the hotel on he's birthday which was a great personal touch.

Further to other peoples comments;
Planes- Yes they are close, but they take about 8 seconds to pass, you don't notice them AT ALL. Due to the fantastic hotel, short transfer time from the airport, beautiful surroundings the planes are the last thing you worry about...

Location of the hotel- If you want to be surrounded by drunks, stag and hen party's and cheap tacky tourist shops THEN STAY IN LAS AMERICAS, This hotel location is great, away from the noise, tourists, and tack, a great place to escape and RELAX...

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SAN BLAS :-D

Already looking to return.

Room Tip: Junior suite, Block B... Stayed in room 6001/2 directly above lobby bar, best view the hotel has to...

We spend a relaxing week in this hotel. Hotel itself did not look outside as (also in pictures available at web) 5-star, but it was really build to fit and take environment into account. Rooms were nice and clean - maybe only issues to say was that bathropes were a bit too small for us (as we are quite a tall couple), pillows were a bit unconfortable and no facial tissues at bathroom. No tea & coffee facilities at the room, but we did not miss those.

We had all inclusive, food was very good and we definitely ate too much during the week :). We did not try a la care restaurant, because food was anyway so great at buffet. Services in the restaurant was mainly very good, and no waithing to get drinks etc. Bars had a good selection of different drinks (also brands), in pool areas and in the hotel. We did not pay of minibar, so we had empty fridge in the room, of which we filled up with water bottles. Our room was on complex A (with sea view), so quite a short walk to lobby and lobby/piano bar, so it was easy to pick up coffee/drinks to the room from there, but for sure those who like to have their first morning coffee or tea at hotel balcony, tea/coffee making facilities missing can be a disappointment. Room service prices were not expensive, so you can easily use that.

There was one market at hotel area, but it did not sell any drinks or food supplies except chips & some candy + souvernis, clothes etc. trift. There are a couple of villages on both sides of the hotel in short distance walk, so you can find supermarket from there. Our daily great enjoy was to take a long walk at the beach (take good shoes with you).

There was a small beach with chairs at hotel front, but it was more relaxing to be at hotel pool, There were plenty of pools to select and no rush to reserve sunbeds as seen in many hotels. You always found good place to stay and enjoy the sun. There was quite a windy on couple of days, but actually it was only refreshing, not cold at all. What was also good was, that there was areas reserved for adults only, so if you wanted to be in nice and quiet, you found the place in pool but also in the restaurant.

Nightlife was not anything special, which was a small disappoinment for us even we definitely were not seeking early morning nightclub party. Beatles show we liked as well.

We took a visit to Americas at one day and enjoyed a lot. We made some shopping and went for lunch to nice restaurant at the beach area. Definitely a great cut for a week at one hotel. We used taxi (about 20 EUR with tip included / direction), but there was free shuttle service from 10 AM from hotel and back at 5 PM.

As a summary I would give 4,5 to this hotel, compared to other 5-star hotels at Tenerife we have visited. For us this trip was what we really wanted for this holiday - sun, peace & quiet + good food and dricks. This is not a hotel for party people but for couples & families this is fine.

Room Tip: Definitely take seaview room, if you want to spend nice evening & morning time at the balcony.

This was our first trip to Tenerife and we researched here thoroughly. Booked through bookable holidays and that was all very easy and well organised. Land at Tenerife South airport and hotel is 10 min transfer away...yes this does mean there are regular low planes over hotel during the day but not during the night. But I stress this was March, dunno if this is different during other months. Anyway, 7 days of virtually uninterrupted sun shone down on this relaxed complex. 5 - 6 pools surrounded by limitless sun beds (despite signs saying no reserving..idiots still doing just that). All inclusive a must, gives access to a massive variety of freshly cooked meals and deserts three times a day (with snacks in between if you want) and if you want anything cooked more or less..chefs will do that for you instantly. All food superbly presented in a clean lively environment. No queuing due to organisation by excellent staff. Wine or beer with meals if you wish or use one of the several other bars open all day for as much as you want. Alcohol all quality branded labels and cocktails in slush puppy machines by pools to help yourself too. Entertainment a bit hit and miss but we watched a Beatles tribute one night which was good.
Basically here...you can do nothing at all but lounge, swim, eat and drink, or you can walk out or catch provided transport to massive range of local activities. It is perfect for families with young kids as the poos have vast shallow areas to keep them safe. Rooms are superb, clean and very well maintained and presented. We slept well but we were at the end of one of the many corridors..these are all tiled so if you found yourself on a busy run you may get clattering feet going past the door..we could not hear anything from rooms above, below or either side so clearly well insulated.
TOP TIP. Take a travel kettle and some instant coffee, tea bags and powdered milk as there are none in the rooms and I missed my morning and evening brews. Was not over keen on hotel coffee mostly because they only have UHT milk which I dislike.
TOP TIP 2. Do not bother with the las Americas trip as it is a tacky expensive place which quickly becomes boring and the bus leaves you there all day. They do have nice sandy beaches though so that might work for you if you want a beach, cause the ones at the hotel are unusable as they are massive pebble's and dangerous waters.
TOP TIP 3. Do the Segway tour for 25 euros as it is great fun. Remember to take some money and a camera as there is a stop half way round at a stunning harbour with beautiful yaghts to snap.
TOP TIP 4, villages close to the hotel worth a look as I passed through them on my Segway tour last day and they look very geared up for visitors, we left it too late unfortunately....
Thanks for reading

Room Tip: I think if I went back I would ask for a sea whew but I think you have to pay extra...pool view room...

A very nice hotel located away from the hustle and bustle of the major resort areas on the island. Its proximity to the airport didn't bother us. We believe that all the rooms are basically the same inside but be warned that a small number of them are poorly located with little or almost no view at all. On our arrival on a busy Friday we were allocated room A208 which was basically a ground floor room pool side. We couldn't see the pool - or anything else for that matter - because of the concrete wall directly opposite our terrace! It felt almost prison-like and claustrophobic. Since we were due to stay 10 days we were not prepared to stay in that particular room for the entire stay. A very pleasant Dutch girl, by the name of Mini, who had checked us in, was very understanding and promised to re-locate us as soon as a room with a better location/view became available. Within a short period she called back to say that a move was arranged for the next day. We ended up on the 3rd (and top) floor of the B block overlooking the small lake. The difference was like night and day and for us it was absolutely perfect. All other aspects of the hotel was very good to excellent and has been adequately described by other reviewers, although we did find that some towels and bed linen were in need of replacement. All staff were pleasant and always had a smile for their customers. Added bonus is a good selection of channels on TV including BBC & ITV for the Brits.

Had a great stay in this hotel, excellent food and very friendly staff, my wife is a very light sleeper and we started the week with someone snoring next door, absolutely no problem with changing rooms. My wife used the spa and said the treatment was first class with excellent products. Perfect -no, but very good and we would certainly return. Minor gripes - no reply to email beforehand asking for spa treatments, AI finishes too early and I would not bother with the shows. On the plus side, nice location (apart from slight aircraft noise that was less than expected given position related to airport) with fishing village and good fish restaraunt's nearby and walks along the coast and in the hotels own nature park. Nice unusual hotel grounds. Good variety of food with once a week dinner in the a la carte.
