I visited the Marina Suites with 2 of my friends and we had a lovely time and the hotel is lovely and clean etc. The only area I found fault was with the service - most notably the reception staff.

The reception staff were very rude - on arrival when requesting a safe in our room we were told that they were too busy checking in staff and to come back later - instead of taking down our request and saying they would deal with it later it fell on us to come back to request for a second time. Several times when visiting reception we had to stand and wait for staff to finish talking and laughing with other staff before dealing with us - on 2 occasions while we were requesting something staff looked at each other and started laughing which made us feel very intimidated. We asked if there was an ipod charger available at the hotel - having been told No we were not offered any advice on where we could get one.

On the second last night one of our party was unwell and we had to find a 24 hour pharmacy - we asked at reception where there was one, the man there told us he didn't know. Surely reception should know these things?

We had no do not disturb sign in our bedroom nor hotel information book explaining about laundry, Internet etc. Maybe this is not standard in the hotel? How were we to know that the number to dial reception was 225? We asked twice for a do not disturb sign as in the mornings the cleaners kept walking us - it arrived on our last day!

We couldn't get beds by the pool and so we actually spent a lot of time at the Morasol Suites as we had friends staying there - the staff were a lot friendlier and we would be more inclined to recommend this hotel rather then the Marina Suites. For a 9 floor hotel I am not sure there were enough beds to even accomodate the hotel if it was half full.

Also we joined the welcome on board program but yet we did not receive any special treatment or acknowledgment.

We were not the only ones who felt this at the hotel - we met several other groups who complained about the reception staff. I must note that the cleaners and all other staff we met at the Marina Suites were very nice and accomodating.

I have also sent the above to the Marina Suites directly a week ago in the hope that they can use this information to improve their reception desk service.

4 lads in their 30s, 1 week in the marina suites. This is how it went…

Checking in was as simple as it should be. They give you the offer of a safety deposit box, beach towels etc to rent there and then. The rental fees were a little expensive in my opinion but as a 4 star hotel, I didn’t really expect dirt cheap prices. We rented a safe which we paid 38 euro for the week (10 of which was refundable when you hand the receipt back at the end of the week).

The rooms were spotless and well presented, comfy and stacks of room. The other room that held the 2 others did have a very small ant problem in the kitchen area. They were going to tell reception but didn’t end up doing it as it was the odd ant seen on the rare occasions they spent at the stove so it didn’t warrant kicking up a fuss. The cleaner arrived between 9-10 every morning, always polite and even washed our small amount of dishes every morning! Regular towel changes and no complaints at all.

The pool area is very nice indeed. I read the reviews on here before I went and heard about people fighting each other for sunbeds – it’s not as bad as it appears. People do put towels on the beds first thing but there are some left if you head down about 10-11am. After that, you probably won’t find that many left however we went during peak season and managed fine. I agree that the pool area is a little small for the level of customers at the hotel but it’s manageable.

Food and drink at the hotel is on the pricey side also but as already stated, I didn’t expect to find a hamburger and chips for 2 euro in a 4* hotel. The staff tend to take their time serving you at times. It’s not something to worry about as your on holiday, learn to live with it and the slightly more laid back culture. It bothered me when we saw this very rude couple “tutting” at the time it took to be served (it was only a matter of 2-3 minutes), If you really demand razor fast service on holiday then you need to learn to chill a bit right?

Our pick up was 5.30pm and checkout time is midday. There is a luggage room for storage for the day and also a shower room to use but you do have to book it on the morning you check-out. They give you 15 minutes yet if its quiet, they let us have it for 30 minutes each and it’s free of charge provided you book it – a nice pleasant surprise! It’s an unused room they keep for you to shower in so has full facilities and aircon to take a cool down before getting changed again.

We didn’t experience any bad manners from staff at all which leads me to believe that the customers who have bad experiences are the people who don’t know how to raise their concerns in a proper mannered way. We got everything we needed and as far as I’m concerned, the staff were always pleasant and courteous and smiling to acknowledge you.

In summary, a fantastic holiday from this hotel. 10 walk to the beach and 15 to the shopping centre. It’s all mostly flat in that area so no hills to climb if you have difficulty doing this. I would definitely go back there for another holiday. Most certainly worth it’s 4* rating. Thank you Marina Suites and all the staff. See you next time.

I can not fault this hotel. It wasnt just clean it was spotless. The maids, bar and reception staff are all very polite and nice. The rooms had everything you need and they were modern. The location of the hotel was really good for going to the shops, bars and resturants. Beach was lovley and i would recommend walking in to amadores along the cliff walk to see the other nice beach and shops and to play good mini golf!

This was out second stay at Marina Suites, and they seem to have improved even on last time if that was possible. On this occasion we went self catering, as there are a lot of places to eat out in Puerto Rico (Hi to Yogi & Benny's!), and last time the food was a bit same as every night. They now do theme nights and the menus vary each day over a week rotation. Very friendly excellent helpful staff. My only gripes are that I consider the safe hire to be rather expensive, and we also had to pay 50Euro for a late check out, as we were not leaving until 11.30 p.m. and should have been out of the room by mid day. I have to say that there were several very bored people sitting in reception for most of the afternoon. And you cannot book a late check out until the actual morning of departure, so you are still uncertain if the room will be available, I thought this was a little unrealistic. Anyway, all in all, a lovely hotel, and we are certainly going to go again.

Just back from a week in the Marina Suites, have to say it was the best hotel
we have ever stayed in, fantastic.
The rooms were very spacious, great little kitchen if you
eat in.
We were on the fourth floor, had a great view of the pool and the sea. We
could see the boats coming in and out all day.
The cleaners came in every day, place
was spottless. Loads of room at the pool, no problem getting a bed.
We ate out all week, some lovely restaurants along the beach, Oscars and Catillona.
If you go up to the Centre there is a restaurant called San Maguiels, the food in there
is really nice. If you like Tapas go there, their fab and very reasonable.
Night life in the Centre is good also, the Harp Bar is a good spot and The Shamrock too.
If you are having any doubts just book these apartments, you wont be dissapointed.
Were booked to go back in Sept, love it.
