“Nice spot. Good views.”

Were staying nearby (Playa Taurito) and visited here twice at lunchtimes. Busy place with efficient staff. Good views over the harbour. Normal drinks prices. Large wines. OK beer

“Lovely view and lovely food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

We chose to eat in the Puerto Rico Beach Club mainly due to its location right on the harbour front and the fact that we wanted to sit and watch the sunset. The staff were also very friendly and food even better. Yes some say the prices are a little more due to its location but only slightly!!!

It was one of our favourite evening meals of our holiday. Myself having the chicken kebab which was of a very large size considering the price being less than ten euros and came with a selection of cooked vegetables and chips. My partner chose a pizza which was the same price as any from a restaurant in the shopping centre in Puerto Rico.

Along with drinks and puddings our bill came to around 30 euros. Hardly that pricey is it? Maybe a bit more if you have starters but overall a beautiful setting and lovely restaurant.

“christmas panto at the big bad beach club”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

On Monday 23rd. December my wife and I booked and preselected our choices for Christmas eve dinner from Christmas Specialities Menu, displayed outside the Beach Club Restaurant in Puerto Rico. The waiter that we spoke to on that day, commented that our choice of time at 8 o’ clock and preselecting our choices from the menu would be helpful as up to that point they had about 50 people booked for various times but not that many for our choice of time.
On arrival at the Beach Club Restaurant at 7.45 we were asked if we had a booking however when we confirmed this the waitress could not find our booking,at this point we noticed another couple seated at the table we had selected when placing our original booking, we also noticed a tag with our name on it. The couple were at this point happily started with their meal ,at least at this point they were happy until as we suspected later on they started getting served with our preselected choice of menu at which point things seemed to get rather confusing to say the least between them and the hapless waiter.
Despite pointing the fact out to the waitress that another couple were seated at our table she seemed confused as to the point we were making, however eventually she decided that there had been a mix up of the seating arrangements for us and the other couple and to seat us at the table which had originally been reserved for the couple who were at the table that had our name tag on it. At this point I asked if the fact that we were now seated at a table with some one else’s name on it there might be confusion with our preselected menu choice, she replied that everything would be ok. At this point my wife suggested that maybe we should try another restaurant as she had noticed that the staff seemed to be in a state of confusion.
To try and put my wife’s and my own mind at rest I proceeded to the bar and asked to speak to the manager of the restaurant, I did my best to explain to him our experience up that point and could he reassure us that from this point forward there would be no more problems, the manager like the waitress seemed confused for a while as to exactly what the problem was but eventually he was able to assure me everything would be fine from that point forward. I now went back to my table and reassured my wife that we could now settle down and relax and enjoy the lovely Christmas meal we had so been looking forward to. HOW NAIVE COULD WE HAVE BEEN?
Our Preselected menu choices (we should have been so lucky)from the Christmas Specialities Menu was as follows. WELCOME COCKTAIL S
(Christma Cocktail of mulled wine, typical Scandinavian )
½ Bottle of Wine per person
Avocado Tartare with Salmon Roe & Cooked King Prawns
Marinated Salmon with Strawberry Vinaigrette and Parmesan
Magret of Duck with Pedro Ximenez Sauce (Sherry)
Cod “a la Riojana” or in Pennyroyal Sauce
‘Best of The World’
(Norwegian Cake of puff pastry, almonds & Crème)
Profiteroles with Hot Chocolate
A waiter now came over to take our order as he checked the name on the table ,and also asked if we wanted to order red or white wine to which we replied we had prebooked the Christmas Specialities Menu which included two half bottles of red wine to which he replied “no problem”. The waiter then went away and came back with a full bottle of red wine at which point we again explained our prebooked order which already included included two half bottles of wine of our choice. At this point the waiter removed the full bottle of red and eventually returned with two half bottles of wine, no Welcome Cocktails,no Welcome Canapes and our starters as per our original order. However when the main course was served this consisted of two Magret of Duck with Pedro Ximenez Sauce (Sherry) and no sign of the Cod “a la Riojana” or in Pennyroyal Sauce. We again explained for at least the third time we had preordered from the Christmas Specialities Menu to which the waiter stated that the Christmas Specialities Menu was now finished and handed us a copy of the standard menu. Once more I spoke to the manager and eventualy after about a further forty five minutes we were served with the appropriate main courses .Next another waiter appeared when we had enjoyed our main courses (yes they were very nice as were the starters) and confirmed what we had ordered for desserts ,we never saw the waiter again except from a distance nor after another lengthy wait did we see our desserts. Once more I spoke to the manager who checked with another member of staff in charge of the order computer who stated that that no desserts had been ordered for us. The Manager apologised but then proceeded to make the excuse that they were busier than they had anticipated and offered us two drinks of our choice for free to make up for our disappointment, at this point in time I still cannot believe I kept a civil tongue in my head , needless to say we declined his offer and asked for the bill. Suddenly we received the quickest service of the evening in the way the bill appeared, however all was not as it should have been as we were being charged for everything we had originally ordered and not what in fact we were eventually served with. After a rather heated discussion between the manager and ourselves he eventually agreed to charge us only for the Starters and Main and then to add farce to farce gave us to much change from the amount we handed over to pay the bill. We were not the unlucky exception as we observed confusion and bad service at numerous tables around us,for example there was a group of about twelve people seated at the next table to us who only managed to get three or four of their number served with some kind of starter by the time we eventually received our Main, we also noticed another couple leave after a hour or so into what they had managed to be served without paying anything and the staff did not even notice.
To Summarise our Christmas Eve Night was ruined in a way even Basil Faulty and Manuel could never have managed at their most incompetent worst. Robert and Kathleen

“Quality seafood, family friendly, upmarket pricing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

Took lunch with two families and small kids. You can get up to restaurant with kids carts by using ramps.

Recommend choosing seafood which has wide selection and was fresh and tasty. Good job chef!
Especially swordfish was pleasant suprise.

For families area with windows is good to avoid sometimes blowing wind.

Service was typical average and ok.

Pricing is a bit upmarket and may reduce customer retention because of the view does not compensate pricing and high quality seafood is available in other places too.

“A little bit more expensive but worth it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

Rum and coke comes in the biggest glass ever. We had fajita and salad and chips expecting a snack wow we had trouble eating it . It was enough for two . Really tasty.
Nice to sit in comfort on sofa watching the beach area there are very relaxing individual areas to sit and to swim if yo want to pay a fee.
You can sit in shade or sun. Area continually cleaned . Even menu was wiped clean with disinfectant . Great for couples or family. Can be £££ or ££££ For casual or special occasions . Food great nice presentation
