“Amazing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

I loved this place, lovely view, nice people and lovely weather. The pool was very nice to. A super market near by and good restaurants. I recommend that you hire a car for a day or two to get to know they island as there are lovely places to go and mountain views to see. The beaches are amazing too! I definitely recommend this place to others. But there are a few negative things to say like the walls of he hotel rooms are a bit thin so you can hear your neighbors and you have to pay for television 2 euros per day with only 1 English channel. Also you have to pay for the sunbed mattress 1 euro per day but apart from that it was a lovely holiday and we are definitely going back. Jillian age:12

we booked the guanabara and didnt have a clue what part of puerto rico it was in.its in a very quiet little cove not far from the harbour.this place is perfection if you want a getaway from the crowds in peak season.the views were lovely and the apartment was quite large and a nice surprise.couldnt say anything about food/drinks.we like to get out and about in the fantastic weather.just a nice stroll away is las olas shopping centre(.not a big one).there are some fantastic places to eat especially the millenium restaurant.all in all yet another fantastic holiday and we would definatlely stay here again!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: lovely walk to wherever you want to go but get a taxi back.

We had done our homework & knew the property was way up in the hills with great views of the harbour. We weren't disappointed although if you don't like hills & steps you should book elsewhere. On arrival we checked in and the staff really just pointed us in the general direction of our room. The room was clean/tidy with a lovely balcony view.If you didn't know Gran Canaria was very hilly this location confirms that. The barman was really helpful & friendly but you aren't bombarded with info.If it gets windy then it sweeps up the valley & the property gets chilly. One piece of info needed is a map of paths/steps which really would help with short cuts down to the port & other beaches as we spent wasted time walking to deadends!Taxis are cheap & plentiful so you can spend money on them rather than walk. The beach is pretty good but walk around to Playa de Amadores & wow!!really clean with numerous bars/kiosks & extremely clean loos. All in all great place with brilliant weather but really hilly...but also on leaving..the airport is a shambles..never again flying from Las Palmas..We were dropped there at 4am & everything shut!!Never walked so far to check-in bags the walk miles to departures the try to find coffee...No Info is not good!!

We stayed hear between 27th April - 4th May 2013. We booked to stay at The Guanabara but were taken across the road to the Inagua Apartments (some of these apartments have been purchased by the Guanabara). The apartment was a good size and had recently been refurbished with a new kitchen/bathroom, had a large balcony which had the sun all day and looked down towards the town so all good really. There was a pool at the Inagua that we could use but no pool bar so we always used the pool at the Guanabara. The apartments are a decent walk down to the marina but a pleasant walk, although not so pleasant on way back up! As others have said, we also walked down and got a taxi back up most of time. Lots of nice bars and restaurants at marina, We went self catering so used the supermarket down the hill for water, breakfast stuff, there is a small supermarket as part of the Inagua but this is more expensive with not a lot of choice. Pool is lovely and kept very clean, plenty of sunbeds but this may be because of the time of year as it wasnt very busy. There are a few restaurants in a row before you hit the tunnel going to Marina which are also good, and we would certainly recommend a meal at the El Guanche Grill, fantastic food and service here! Our room was cleaned every other day with 2 towel changes in a week.

Sitiated in the top end of the New Puerto Rico barranco, this wide-spread apartment hotel offers a splendid view of the southern part of th PR harbour and the western sea approuches, with the multicoloured sunsets as the most spectacular moments. Staying there for 6,5 weeks in february and first half of march we had many such moments at our spacious veranda. Most of the apartments are like ours 1 bedroom, combined bath/toilet and living room with small kitchenet; standard rather simple and well worn, but well maintained and functional.
There is a centrally situated pool of good size, ca 20m length, and heated to an amiable level of 23-24 degr.C. Poolside there is a bar and restaurant which serves both breakfast/lunch and dinner meals at nearly gourmet level.
The site of the hotel makes it perfect as starting point for hikes in the near mountains, which have a widespread net of well marked paths. Sea beaches are also near at hand; both the Anfi beach and the PR beach are only a 25min walk distant, leaving the hotel outside the noise and turbulence of central PR.

we booked our holiday through Thomas Cook in 2010 for me and Hubbys 50th birthday we wanted a week away celebrating , as birthdays landed around St Patricks day (yes we are scots who use any excuse for a party) it was either New York ! Dublin or The Hoops bar in sunny Puerto Rico . Gran Can won . our week on our own escalated and on the plane we had 19 o us . 4 families mixed of mums dads and kids ages 10yr-56 yrs .
hotel is basic (ask for rooms at pool level) no lifts . the hotel was spotless , never saw a cockroach full holiday , balconies are small but when you have pool on your level , it wasnt a worry . staff ??? bar staff were nice no complaints . other staff never needed to see them . we were self catering , i would struggle in Gran Canaria All Inclusive because too many nice restaraunts. good walk down to bars we did it every night all 19 o us , we did split for night life as 1, you canny get 19 in restraunt at one time 2. we respected each others decision making . yes you get what you pay for cheap n cheerful , if i was a young thing looking for a bed n a bar , and a lazzee day time at the pool to recover this is your ideal apartments . mind you no noncense i think they could chuck ye oot lol note date of travel diff from drop down options (my dates not there)

Room Tip: ask for high level rooms near pool no lift

On top of the hill guanabara park is a quiet location , all apartments have a great sea view , are spacious and kept lovely and clean, the pool area is nice and gets all day sun. We stayed there for Christmas and were the only English couple there but I did not find this a problem , the hotel seams to appeal to Norwegians in the winter months and English through the summer, we went all inclusive but I would definitely go again but self contained , beer lovely (large litre tankards) but food although well cooked there was very little choice and no deserts, and unless there quick it was not kept hot, we ate out most of the holiday but we usually do anyway, we use the all inclusive for breakfast and drinks by the pool , the hotel is up high and there are many steps down to the park which you can walk through to take you near the beach or you can stay on the paths and follow the rd but both are tiring if you walk back up daily ,a taxi is only about 3euros though , all in all a nice place I will return to
