“Good Value for Money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

We recently visited friends that live in G.C. We wanted somewhere reasonably priced as would be out and about. We stayed at these apartments 12 years ago and enjoyed our holiday so thought we would stick with somewhere we knew plus it had been renovated a few years ago. For what we paid £420 for a big two bedroom apartment for 7 nights (£360 for one bed sleeping 4) it was fine and glad we paid the extra for the 2 rooms as it meant we also had two bathrooms as they basically unlock a interconnecting door between two apartments also giving you 2 balconies. There are some apartments I would not want to stay in some are on the stairs on the way to the pool or on the walk way.
Prices at the bar are expensive i.e. a pint was nearly 3 euro and most places are 1.50-2. Pools are nice and clean and staff are friendly. The views are the best thing about these apartments which you pay the price for as then you have to gets taxis up and down the hill (4 euros each way). For cheap and cheerful base this is ideal.

had a great time at riosols new year party . Angelo really made it go with a bang as he is an excellent entertainer . weather was wall to wall sunshine for the whole two weeks . everything was as we expected as this was our 12th visit and count it as our second home over the years we have got to know various members of staff and their families especially at new year party when they bring their family members along to join in the fun . we always ask for the same apartment and have always been given it , as we like to chill out on our terrace and enjoy the sun while lying on our sunbeds . We always go self catering but have eaten in the restaurant a few times as you can pay on the night and have found it very good value .Drinks in the bar are also very reasonable and cheaper than some of the bars in the Europa .It is going to be our first visit in the summer this year and we cant wait

Room Tip: rooms in the middle get the most sun

We stayed here for 13 nights in July for a family holiday. There were 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 children. Location was key for us as we wanted to be close to the Europa centre, this is definitely the case. There weren't any 2 bedroom apartments available so we had to settle for a 1 bedroom with sofa bed. It's the worst 13 nights sleep of my life!

Parking is non existent so parking on the road is the order of the day, this isn't usually a problem in the local area but when the Spanish come down at the weekend you have no chance of finding a space within a 10 minute walk away!

The reception area looks welcoming and fairly modern, staff were ok but Not especially welcoming or giving your much in the way of information. I guess you just have to find things out yourself.

Our apartment was probably the furthest away from reception you could get. There is only one lift which is more like a small tram, slow and sometimes too busy to get in.

We found our apartment after a 5 minute walk from the lift. The room was clean and of a reasonable size, no air conditioning but you do get a fan. Don't plan on watching the TV unless you are prepared to pay for it, you can also hire a portable air conditioner for €50 per week.

The bedroom had large wardrobes, 2 single beds and a safe (extra charges). The bathroom was the biggest issue in the room, the door handle was hanging off and just about managed to last the complete time, I was very surprised no-one got locked in. The toilet seat was very loose and looked like it was going to fall off, the toilet roll holder only had one screw! A few hours of maintenance and this could all be sorted out.

The room had a table and four chairs for dining and 2 sofas which were the sofa beds, I'm sorry but I'm married and would like to spend the time near to the wife not the other side of the room. There was no way that you could join them together to make one bed, you simply wouldn't be able to get in and out, they were also extremely uncomfortable. The room also had a terrace/balcony with a table, 2 chairs and 2 sunloungers.

The maid visited often and did a good job.

The pool area was nice and sun loungers were nearly always available although some of them were broken and you couldn't adjust them. Entertainment was good and plentiful during the day and in the evening.

Internet was quoted as being available in the reception area, this was true but sometimes it was just too hot to sit around, plus everyone was trying to do the same thing and it didn't work on occasions. In this day and age this is not really good enough. There were wireless access points all around the complex but it was too erratic, it had not been configured correctly, the equipment looked good but the access points weren't setup in a mesh, some had security some didn't, sometimes you couldn't get an address at all which meant it didn't work. There was a wireless access point right outside the apartment but this didn't appear to be working as none of my devices could not connect. One interesting thing I did discover is that the wireless worked really well in Puerto Rico harbour which is about 1 mile away!!

Overall our stay was acceptable but I would not go back, there are plenty of other choices around for 1 bedroom apartments and also a lot that were cheaper.

We had a pleasant stay for the whole family. We were celebrating my wives birthday and every one was impressed with the hotel, the pool, the staff and the whole area around the hotel. We will come back, soon! 

Just returned home yesterday from a10 day stay, we are in the riosol club and visit twice a year, very impressed with the refurb looking really good, only one downside is at weekends it is over run with Spanish and is difficult to get beds, towels do come off beds if not being used which is great but pool attendant seems to only do particular beds

Room Tip: Close to pool

Myself, husband and two older teenage children have just returned from this lovely hotel. From the moment we arrived, we found that staff were friendly, organised and welcoming.
I had worried about getting a room at the back of the hotel and had e-mailed the Hotel Manager to see if it could be possible have a forward facing room. He politely e-mailed back saying he could not guarantee this but would do his best to get a nice view for us.When we arrived the manager showed us a map of where our room was and we were blown away by the 180 degree panoramic view that this room provided us with. The apartment had its own stairs down to a huge terrace and two balconies, just below the kiddie pool. I would say that it would be unsuitable for those with small children or merry adults, due to a low wall on one side, with two story drop.It has staff only access to lower roof terraces each with increasingly low wall levels. The apartment had a good kitchen area, two bathrooms and two twin bedrooms. The beds are quite firm and can be uncomfortable, as was the heat in the rooms. We were provided with two fans and this ,although quite noisy, helped. Air conditioning units could be hired for 50 euro per week. The safe which is extra has a feature were you provide the combination.
We found that the food in the hotel was delicious and varied each night. Yes, there were some dishes not labelled but that added to the fun of trying new flavours(unless you are a vegetarian or have allergies). The hot food counter usually always had labels. You would have to be an extremely fussy person not to enjoy the banquets provided.Again staff were always tere to assist. Just remember your room number to tell staff on entering the restaurant.
There is snack bar as well and also provide tasty well priced meals. Internet is at reception and the small lending library keeps readers satisfied.
The hotel had a clientele from many countries and this added to a wonderful experience. It was lovely to hear all the other languages and accents.
The walk to the back door was easy enough .It has key card entry/exit security. There are more than a Seven hundred stairs to the beach at Puerto Rico which on a hot day can be exhausting. There is a small supermarket at the base of these stairs before the road bridge were you can purchase a cool drink. We walked down and took 3-4 euro taxi ride back up.
The beach at Puerto Rico may have some rocks further out but I preferred it to the pristine beach at Amadores where the crushed shell beach gives way under foot when at the waters edge. At puerto Rico beach there is an area to the far left that is sandy most of the way out. There is watersports galore from kayaking pedaloes, banana boats, and sailing skiffs. All at reasonable prices. From the hotel you could watch all the water activity which included paragliding.
Puerto Mogan boat trip cost 10 euro per person return and is well worth a visit. Especially on the friday market.
The Europa centre Hyperdino was great for stocking up on water etc and there are may restaurants to try too. There is a play area for kids which I imagine would give them lots of fun. Just watch the pavements tile as some are loose or slippery in some footwear. Thre Crazy Golf nearby was good value too and due to the heat is best left till after tea time.
The Riosol gave us a lovely relaxing holiday and we can't wait to return again.

Room Tip: Request forward facing two bedroom as back ones are quite dark and have obstructed view

We have just arrived back from our 2week honeymoon at Riosol and didnt want to leave it was such a great holiday the views were amazing and all the staff were so helpful and friendly. The food was also very good and offered a different menu everynight. The only downside was the location we made the best of it but people who struggle with walking may have trouble. The hotel itself was great though very good base from which to visit various parts of the island...puerto rico we will be back!! :-)
