“Nothing to moan about unlike some”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

Trouble is everyone's expectations are too high these days, we have become very selfish and greedy. These apartments are clean, tidy and basic which is ideal if you do what most people do on holiday and that is explore your surroundings and enjoy the fantastic weather.
There are a lot of cats around, but so what, even they are clean and if you tell them to leave you alone they will do. As long as you are happy with basic accommodation and not too horrified at the fact that a lick of paint may be needed here and there then you have found some well priced accommodation. My only concern for people of a certain age is the number of steps from the main shopping complex up to any of the accommodation you do need to be prepared for this. My only criticism which is nothing to do with Canaima but it's the amount of hassle the shops and eating places around Puerto Rico give you when you are walking around, now that does annoy me.

when booking these apartments we knew it was cheap.first thing that put us off was the amount of steps to reception then the amount of steps to the apartment with our bags to carry up the very narrow steps.the manager was very rude and cant count ripped us off of 10 euro, the amount of wild cats around was disgusting, you cant leave your door open because the cats just walk in,the apartment itself was kept clean but going out was a chore because although you could walk down to the center the thoughts of all those steps back was a nightmare, before you think ,ah well you can get a taxi up the hill the steps are from the road up to the apartment

When pulling up to the apartments they looked like a Spanish version of faulty towers. The building is swarming with cats and the staff are appalling. The drinks are cheap and the pool area is run down, but you get what you pay for. Our room was clean on arrival but a number of couples in our group had to wait another hour and a half as the rooms were disgusting and not up to standard.also the rooms were not cleaned throughout the week and guests told that if they kept their rooms tidier then they would consider cleaning them. Not a place I would recommend when there are so many other choices in Puerto Rico with higher standards and are still reasonable in price.

Booked this as a last minute getaway.think some of the reviews are very harsh.we had a big one bedroom apt.large bathroom.both shower and bath.basic kitchen with large fridge freezer.good size lounge and balcony.clean towels were brought every day.the pool area was spotless.plenty sunbeds.5 mins walk from town all down hill.less than 3 euros for taxi back up again.lots of great eating places in town.cant wait to go back.

Just returned 27-04-13 The apartments are spacious but we found our,s a bit gruby crumbs on the sofa scale on the bathroom sink and dust and plastic bits under the sofa. The glasses were dirty but after we gave it a clean it felt better the bedding was old an worn but clean and comfortable the towels looked fairly new. The maid came in most days but it was a quick wipe around. There are cats but they did'nt bother us, i dont like cats but it was ok.
The main problem was the older man at reception my husband lost our key and he was furious being really rude and shouting then charged us 30 euro for a new one. But the rest of the staff was helpful an chearful.
We have visited the Island for 16yrs two to three times a year and never been treated so aggressively by anyone. there is 24hrs reception an control entry just press the buzzer on the wall . to gain entry. If you are using the tranfer shuttle bus from the airport make sure they drop you at the enterance as they were dropping people off on the main road at the sign for the apartments an it is a steep hill to drag your luggage up to the main gate. an after a long journey it can be tireing to say the least as you have a further climp of two flights of stairs to the reception then depending were your apart is even more stairs as there is no lifts. pools are good as is the pool bar food and drinks good they have the tiniest shop with the very basic and watch your change when the older man is on he tried to short change me an when i stood my ground he threw the rest of my change at me muttering something in spanish. there is no air conditioning and it get really uncomfortabe at night in the apartment and it is a meter TV My nephew arrived three days later and he found his bedroom an bed infested with insects an ant the security sprayed the rm an told him to wait outside for 40min this was 2am he refused an eventually they agreed to move him after that he found it ok but the older man remained unwelcoming and rude.
YOU HAVE BEEN WELL WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!

Stayed March 2013. Was expecting it to be worse than it was after having read reviews. The place was built in the 80's and does in some areas need revamping. The apartment was ok for what we paid. You are required to pay on a meter for the t.v. The kitchen was very basic and needs updating. The owner and his reception staff are ok if you take the trouble to chat to them as they can speak reasonable English and want to learn more. There is a handy small shop on site with most essentials which was handy. Yes they have cats but they do feed them so they don't pester you too much for food. Ok for a week in the sun.
