We booked this holiday as a very late deal in May. We were on the top floor which was great as your balcony is not overlooked by anyone, the one's lower down can be seen from above. There were 2 of us and the apartment was more than big enough however I think 4 adults would find it a bit squashed. The balcony was great and once the sun shone on it (around lunchtime) then it was a complete sun trap and got very hot. The pool area was quite small and a lot of people did the old trick of putting towels on sun loungers, it also seemed to get quite slippy - I saw a couple of small children fall over so be careful!
The bar area was pleasant, they offered snacks and ice-creams.
The staff were pleasent and the apartments were kept clean and tidy.

The beach was about a 10 minute walk away and the shopping centre about 5 minutes away. We weren't as keen on the shopping centre as a location to eat, to many english & Irish themed bars, we prefered the restaurants down by the harbour.
The beach was very sheltered so no strong waves, we also took the ferry to Puerto Mogan - definately worth a trip only a few euros and a lovely place to visit - beautiful harbour and buildings and it also has a lovely beach.

As a resort Puerto Rico is quite hilly and there are a lot of steps everywhere especially up to the areas where the apartments are, I think there were 60 or 70 steps to the Cala Nova without the ones needed to get to the top floor although they did have a lift.

Overall the apartments were fine and in a good location, the beach and harbour area were lovely however for me the shopping centre was a bit too much 'Brits Abroad' - I can imagine that in the height of summer it would be very busy and there would be a lot of football shirts about!

Great location, 5 mins to Commercial Centre, 10 mins to beach and marina. There are approx 60 stairs to climb to get to entrance of the Cala Nova but if you keep to the winding road its a little bit easier. Apartments where well equipped and kept spotless by the maids. I would say swimming pool area could get busy during peak times but after 12:00 noon the balconies are sun traps if you want to sunbathe. Overall good clean value for money apartments. Found very staff helpful too.
Beach at Amadeus superb and its well worth taking the bus up to Puerto Mogan which is beautiful.
Cheapest beer and drinks can be found at M & M’s 90cents a pint and 2 euros for ba vodka and mixer.
We found the Central Café in the commercial centre, just 20 metres passed the end of the ramp and to the right, the shoulder of Lamb with a honey and nut sauce was amazing.
Overall we found the Cala Nova a very clean and well located place to stay in Puerto Rico.

Just home from Cala Nova apartments... lovely, apartments within easy walking distance of beach, shops and restaurants. Beautiful views, small pool but nice. Slippery at end of day!! Be careful. Excellent staff, good entertainment, spacious rooms and large balcony. Would definitely go back, ignore any bad reviews!! It's lovely. Enjoy!!

We have just returned from our second stay at the Cala Nova with our 3 children and wouldn't hesitate to go again. Although it is quite simple and basic (it is only a 1 key hotel so you can't expect luxury), on both of our visits we have found it clean and well maintained and the staff helpful. It's location is very handy for the resort centre (only the infirm or very unfit would struggle with the steps). We avoided the Shopping Centre at night and took a pleasant 10 minute stroll towards the beach where there are plenty of restaurants and it's much quieter. If your children (or you) like water parks, try Atlantida (at the back of the resort). It's less well advertised than Aqualand (in Maspalomas) and smaller, but as a result is much less busy and there's no queuing fro the slides.

Wouldn't put my dog in it!! The worst holiday we have ever had in Puerto Rico. It was scruffy, it smelt, the curtains were torn, floor tiles were loose, the toaster was rusty, no air con, no hot water for two days & when there was it was very discoloured. Thoma Cook should NOT put their name to these apartments. The list of complaints is endless. Stay clear of these apartments, it was more like Fawlty Towers!!. Only had our bed canged once in the two week we were there, it was disgusting.
