“10 night stay at Cala Nova”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Myself and my partner have just got back from a 10 night stat at Cala Nova apartments. The apartments are very clean and have everything you require. We would agree with the comments on the towels but didn't bother us too much. We didn't go in the pool once as we preferred the Amadoras beach, which was amazing. Only a 15/ 20 min walk away. We did notice every morning that towels where put on sunbeds as soon as the cleaning staff had finished(which was at least 8.30, 9am) but again didn't really effect us. Our 10 days where a lot quieter than prob going in the peak season as there wasn't many people at the bar in the evenings (BBQ was cancelled, think they said this was the first tome they had to do it since may, so shows how quiet it was) We spent one night at the bar with the entertainment which was good, also get your picture taken with the animals/reptiles. All other evenings we preferred to go out and eat near the beach. The shopping centre was too loud and busy for what we wanted and near enough every place you passed, someone was trying to get you in for food. We stayed on the first floor of the apartments so would hear the shopping centre music in the distance which for the first week wasn't that bad, but the last few days the music got later. Would recommend a trip over to Mogan as its very beautiful. Overall a good stay at Cala Nova, can't really fault them at all. We would prob not visit Puerto Rico again as it was a lot more busier than we wanted from our holiday.

This hotel was very simple, does exactly what it says on the tin, clean, functional, idealy situated and perfect for all visitors.
We stayed on the third floor, the balcony was of ample size and had a super view over the main centre, and also we had a great view of the sea, the room was spacious, it had a television with optional(chargable) English channels, two sofas, a dining table and chairs, kitchen area with a hob and a fridge/freezer. The bathroom was of decent size, had a decent shower, always hot water available only critisism is that the towels were not changed regularly, i believe this is a regualar observation of guests staying at the Cala Nova, the bedoom had a decent size wardrobe with hangers, two single beds pushed together and two bedside tables. The bedroom got extremely warm in the evening to we hired a fan for the 10 days, 20 euros and a 10 euro deposit, probably the best money we spent if honest.

The hotel bar was reasonably priced, the staff were very helpful, some british staff and some spanish. The convenience store was on the pricey side but this is to be expected.

I cant really comment on the pool area, we never spent the day there as we preferred the beach, all i did notice was that people literally watch the pool attendant for the loungers to be released and then shoot down to place there towels there, i know this is common in most holiday venues but i have never seen it to this extent.

Finally, the entertainment put on by the hotel was good, there is a timetable of shows put on by the hotel for every night except Monday, one night the show was cancelled as the bar hadnt been busy enough during the day to pay the act....

All in all a good hotel to use when travelling to Puerto Rico, no frills, but gives you everything you require for you holiday needs

4/5

Room Tip: We stayed in 301, i would say anything above the 1st floor will be sound :-D

We stayed for 2 weeks end of August beginning of September. Stayed on floor 3 fantastic rooms newly done great view perfect for what you want. Rooms cleaned everyday and to a very good standard. Food at the bar was good value for money. Drinks weren't too bad either but obviously you can get better deals down at the shopping centre. The shop located in the apartments was more expensive than other shops at the shopping centre but then what do you expect for convenience. The pool was a little small but especially into the 2nd week of our holiday it became a lot quiter with children going back to school. However was still lots of people around! We met some great people which we will stay in contact with! There was always a lot going on through the day by the pool/bar all thanks to PHIL (the main man) who no matter what type of person you are you will get along with this fantastic man! We had many very enjoyable nights at the apartments with the entertainment available (shows were fantastic). The BBQ night is definitely something to go to on a Wednesday night. This is GREAT value for money. We would often go down into the shopping centre on a night (which was a 5 minute walk away) and have something to eat which for the 2 of us would never be over 25 euros (inc. drinks) we thought was good value for money. (San Miguels, happy valley indian (BRILLIANT), Las Vegas, Planet) all were really good food! We are a young couple (20) and found the bars really good in the shopping centre especially PICCADILLYS this bar is amazing the people who work there are fantasic and drinks are really good value for money with 2 spirit mixers for 5 euros, cocktails on buy one get 2nd half price (9 euros) really really good place for all ages though! All in all amazing holiday would DEFINITELY go back next year!!!

Where do I start... Best holiday I've been on so far... Stayed in the Cala Nova for 14 nights.
All the staff in the hotel are friendly and would do anything to help you.
The rooms are basic but very clean. One thing that could be changed is having clean towels more often. Everything in them that you need while on holiday.
Food served at the bar is great. Entertainment is excellent and that's all down to Phil. Includes everyone and makes you feel at home.
Location of the apartments is great. 5 minute walk to bars and restaurants.
Planning a holiday here again next summer.

We stayed at the cala nova for 12 nights ....we were on the 8th floor and the views were stunning ....all staff were very helpful from the cleaners to the bar staff .....phil the entertainer was fab at keeping the kids amused around the pool in the daytime with pool and darts ....also entertainment at night was good with some shows and music quizz ....the location was brill ...u are between the nightlife and the beach (stairs back up a bit heavy after a few to many).....the only let down for us was the size of the pool ....and I could not believe my eyes when on our first morning people were up at the crack of a sparrows putting towels down .....and if u diden't join in this ritual in the morning u would not get a sunbed ....would I go again ....yes but not in the height of the season ....having said that I did really enjoy myself .
