“Good first impression”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

Have just stayed at the revoli for 2 weeks and when we first arrived we were really impressed with the new modern accommodation, but as time went on we realised that they wasn't as good as we thought. The main problem was the cleaning of our room. The maid came every other day and when she did come you couldn't really tell any difference. Our floor was only swept once, the shower cleaned only once and the room in general was starting to get very mucky, in fact the room was only cleaned properly the day before we were due to come home! Another problem was sun beds. You have to make sure you are up early to secure a sunbed otherwise you won't get one as it gets so busy round the pool. Me and my husband have been going to puerto RICO for over 10 years now and love the resort but for cleanliness these are one on the worst apartments I have stayed in. We knew these apartments had recently been refurbished and were now meant to be 3 star even 3 star + but compared with many other apartments I have stayed in I would class them as 2 star! On the upside the staff were very friendly and spoke English brilliantly

Just had a week here at the Revoli. I was very impressed with the rooms, which are very modern and clean. I have stayed in many apartments in Puerto Rico and this is the nicest one I have stayed in. Excellent value for money. There is entertainment every night at the poolside if you dont want to venture to the centre, which is only a 5 minutes walk away. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Higher floors are less noisy

Just arrived back from gran canaria at the revoli! Wat can I say, everything was fantastic. The rooms are lovely with free air con and lovely views (we were on the 6th floor)! Next to a main road but the noise didn't bother us! The entertainment (leo) was brilliant with both adults and children! Lots of quizzes , bingo, aqua aerobics and water polo every day! He made sure everyone was invited to join in, there was a mixture of nationalitys but mainly brits, but he was fab with them all and made everyone feel welcome! Evryone I spoke to around the pool had loved there stay here! The only drawback is people reserve sunbeds so you have to be down early, but if your not there at your bed around 11, if you speak to the guard he removes towels of people who are not around!! We didn't feel the need to go out every night as the entertainment on a night was brill, but I heard people complaining about the noise (they shut everything at 11pm) so if your wanting a quiet holiday maybe its not the place as there is music playin constantly throughtout the day! Safety deposit is 24 euros but u get 10 back when checking out! The rep hayley was fantastic too, always there when we needed her! Brilliant location, just 10 minutes from the main shopping centres! Altho there is a supermarket on site which is reasonable priced! Bed changed once in the week but towels changed twice, but reception are always happy to help 24/7!! Bar prices reasonable and good food too!! Only some of the staff looked abit unhappy to be there, but maybe that was a language barrier thing!! I would definantly recommend this hotel to anyone with or without kids! I went to maspolomas years ago and hated it so was abit wiery of going back to gran canaria again but this holiday has totally changed my view of the island altho I may not go to maspolomas again!! But wud definarly return here for sure! Brilliant value for money!!

Just come back from gran canaria today and we had an amazing time, It is a perfect hotel for familys. Our 6yr old daughter thought the entertainment (Leo) and the kids club reps were very friendly and kept our daughter entertained during the day round the pool, also on an evening with mini diso. If you are on a budget and just want a lazy break away this is a very good place to come on a self catering basis as there are a lot of good priced super markets near by and also the hotel buffet restaurent is very reasonable with a lot of choice for adults and children. I thought my daughter would have been living off chips for the whole holiday where as she actually only chose chips once or twice as she chose to have spaghetti or rice and there was also a jacket potatoe option aswell. There was also a very nice, fresh and big fruit salad option aswell which i used every day for my pudding. Leo also does aqua aerobics and water polo every day which is a great way to excercise or you can just lounge on a sunbed and watch if you dont want to be involved. The bar staff and cleaners are excellant and we got fresh towels every other day. The room was amazing and sea view even better, we was very impressed that when we arrived in the early hours of the morning they had provided us with a litre bottle of water already in the fridge. They said they charged for air con but it was already on in the room as there was a heat wave and they didnt charge us for it for the full 10 days. The only improvement i think they could make especially for familys is to provide free tv as we had to pay 3 euros a day for it but the only channels in english was disney channel and news channels but if it wasnt for my daughter we wouldnt have bothered but this shouldnt be taken as a criticism only as possible room for improvement.

We have recently returned from the Revoli in the past couple of days. The rooms were very spacious with a modern kitchen area. The only bad thing was towels and beds changed only once a week. All rooms overlooked the main road and pool area and had the sun most of the day. The shop on site was very good and not too expensive, we used this several times. The hotel staff were very hot and cold, sometimes they couldn't do enough and others they seemed disinterested. The Thomson rep Hayley was excellent she did everything we asked of her and gave good information. The hotel is quite popular with Scandinavians but this wasn’t a problem and most was friendly. The entertainment was generally good with shows/events on most nights and throughout the day. Only 1 issue we encountered was with Leo the entertainer who sometimes told little porkies when it came to the prizes, he will know what we mean!! Other than that the team were very good. The food in the hotel was excellent and only cost 12.5 Euro each for all you can eat and included any free drink. This option is available for self-catering guests. We would recommend going self-catering as there are some very nice restaurants nearby and having the two options available was very handy. The hotel did put on regular happy hours throughout the day which was 2 for the price of 1 on most drinks making 2 beers cost around 2.40. The hotel was well positioned and only 10 minute walk away from the main shopping complex and 15 mins to the beach and marina.
While being for a week we did visit a few restaurants. One to definitely visit is in the shopping centre called "SAN MIGUEL" which had a great menu and the food and service was excellent. Best Paella we have ever had! One to avoid is the El Tiburon (red sign) which is on the main beach front. The food was ok but the pubic hair in the chips put us off and they didn't quite understand a rare steak from a medium. There excuse was the chef was having a bad day!!!
One trip to definitely do is the Palmitos Park which is a great day out and amazing even for the adults. We got the bus which is 5 mins from the hotel - number 70 takes an hour. The animals were well looked after and cost 28 euros per adult. The trip to Mogan is also worth doing by ferry but don't expect too much to see and do!

Finally the late check-out option is recommended if you have a late flight home. However this option wasn’t available on request as the hotel was apparently full. The rep advised us to go on Thomson web site and book 1 extra night stay. This cost us £20 and meant that we had a room until departure. We did have to change rooms which was a bit annoying but worth doing it because you only get half an hour to use the shower room. They save your cases, no problem with no charge. Overall a great holiday and would return.

We returned home yesterday after a fab week at the Revoli Playa, these are much better since having the refurb done, and the air-con is a godsend, we did have a couple of small niggles but wouldnt put me off going again to this hotel.

Check in: This was done pretty quick as we had already requested our room before we arrived so we in our room within 5 minutes.

Room: We had room 425 which is on the 4th floor and we had great views of the pool and the sea.
The room is nicer in decor and there was plenty of room for the both of us, we even had cushions in the bedroom as well as the pillows, there is also a safety deposit box in the wardrobe which is better than last time as they were in reception and looking very tired.
We also had free Air-con but this is only in the living room so my advice is if you leave the bedroom door open the cool air will flow through as this is what we did.

Cleaning: Well the cleaner came in once while we were there but this is probably because we left the dont disturb sign on the door while we went out sometimes as there was rumours going around that one of the maids had stolen someones t-shirt and vest and some money, it was just caution as it was only 1 person reported this but we didnt want to take the chance.

Hotel Bar:

They do a happy hour 3 times a day now which is buy one get one free, this is on long drinks, pop, milkshakes and there lager, we did get the lager which is 2.85 euros for 2 on happy hour, also had there bacardi and coke which was 4.95 euros for 2 on happy hour, we always got served without delay as there was 3 staff on the bar.

The couple of niggles we had were the tv in the room which kept going off and we had to either go to reception or phone down to them but this was sorted out pretty quick, I know people say you dont go on holiday to watch tv but hubby liked to watch it while I was getting ready lol.
The other niggle was the courtesy room on our last day they didnt let you know that you needed your own towel which isnt a big deal but when you want a shower before your picked up for your flight home you dont have time to dry your towel, the room was also very dirty and this should of been checked everytime it got used as there was water all over the floors and dirty towels which must of been to get your hands dryed on as they were tiny.

We only ate in the hotel a couple of times as we prefer to eat out and try different places and the food is nice and not overpriced, fries were 2.10 euros pizzas starting from 5.00 euros and there was others ranging from 5-11 euros this was for large meals.

Taxis are still pretty cheap down to the commercial centre we never paid more than 2.25 euros which is the standard fare when you get in but it only goes up if you go further afield, sundays is slighlty more expensive, just be carfeul with certain taxi drivers as we were ripped off going up to the europa centre for the first time while we were there as it said 3.70 when we got out and when I was going down the stairs he shouted to me to pay more so I went back over to the taxi and he said its 4.70 so we just paid it couldnt be bothered to argue about it, but after that we never paid more than 3.40 to get to the Europa centre so just be careful.

We loved Puerto Rico beach as you can walk pretty far out before it gets deep and the water isn't to cold, we got sunloungers up on the top where it cost 10 euros for the 2 loungers and parasol which isnt too bad, we spent most of the day there and it was nice to cool off now in the sea now and again, we went back saturday before the extreme heatwave hit and it was packed as it must of been spanish holiday as they were mostly spanish, it was nice to see all the familys having fun.

The commercial center is the same with a few new places we seen and we were not hassled once of the PR's trying to get you in there place for a bite to eat which was nice, we still like San Miguels but they do need to change there english sausage as it is definately not like it used to be in there the sausage was vile which is a shame because they do a lovely breakfast but that spoilt it, we were going to try Harry's room for our sunday dinner but we spoke to him and he said its closed for 2 weeks for a refit so we had ours in San Miguels and it was better than ever and we got more meat lol.
Harrys takeaway let us down big time when we went and Its a shame Harry wasnt there when we ordered because we would definately have not been given the crap we were given , I ordered a chicken wrap with chips, and the chicken must of been off the night before as it was very hard and couldnt be eaten, I wasnt going to waste my holiday going back down there to take it back so binned it but I will be letting him know through facebook about this.

We tried a lovely little cafe called Florida park for our breakfast a few times which is hidden away at the first part of the centre upstairs beside subway, proper walls sausages lol and lovely bacon, fried bread etc and it was lovely and cool to eat in there which was great, this cost 4.50 euros which included tea, coffee or fresh orange juice.

We tried a few different bars down the bottom which I cant remember most of the names as we were quite drunk when we entered but all were good but pricey for my bottles of wkd lol, we met a few nice people in the bars which is better than having miserable people serving you which we found in a couple of bars, yes fair enough the island is suffering but the last thing tourists want to see is a sad face behind the bar as it is our holidays.

Overall we enjoyed our holiday to the Revoli and around Puerto Rico, we had brilliant weather which most days were in the 30's but saturday and sunday 12th and 13th may we had really hot weather it got up to 47c which was far too hot to sit in so we chilled in the bars until it cooled off, it was like walking into an oven it was that hot, this does take its toll on you and 1 lady died while we were there which is a damn shame. So be careful if there is a calima which is the second time we have been there while there has been one.

The only advice I could give the Revoli was while they were doing the refurb they should of changed the sun loungers to ones where you can sit up or lie down not fixed ones where you have to lie down but this didnt put us off as we hate to lie in the sun for too long, would I go back to the Revoli...Yes we would as it is really nice and the satff are friendly especially Paco at Reception he will go out his way to help you.
Anyone heading there hope you enjoy it as much as we did :)

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor for the best views...Floors 4,5 and 6 has the best views

Stayed here with Thomson (rep Hayley was great!) Apartments are modern and huge! You have two sets of French doors leading one from lounge and other from bedroom onto balcony! A tip is to book a HIGH (floor 5-7) up room with a POOL view as these have best sea view. As our sea view room had limited view! Supermarket close by (there's also one on site) Staff were efficient and helpful at reception. Air conditioning included in lounge but on high it kept all apartment cool. Local bars down hill. Some great non "egg and chips" restaurants if you use Trip Advisor recommendations; Rhodos Palace, Minimas, El Cenedor and at Puerto Mogan (bus ride away) La Bruschetta great for pasta or fish by the sea for lunch! We also went on 4x4 safari in land by Zig Zag tours that was lovely with lakes, mountains and pine forest views! Biggest apartment I've been in at a value price!
