“Standard hotel in deserted area...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Very nice spa - not included in the price. Nice, silent rooms. Friendly staff. Lousy, very lousy food - like paella out of the box, bloody pork ribs, low quality industrial pastries. Horrendous junk quality coffee. Lousy and unsecured wi-fi.

Room Tip: Don't buy half or full pension... Don't come if you are not motorised.

Attended a scientific forum and spent few night in this peaceful hotel.
5 minutes walking distance to the beach and the room is clean with cozy environment.
A variety of cuisine were served in the buffet lunch and dinner, i had a most tasty paella in this restaurant!!
This place is very good choice for the family vacation, as there are many attractive activities prepared for the kids.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

Stayed for 5 days over Easter holiday here as we're used to come every year or almost and we've enjoyed being in a peaceful hotel, not crowded and without stress.

The price paid (around 90 Euros a day) was fair and was inclusive of the buffet breakfast which was ok and good. More variety would be a plus. Egg station if you like.

Staff is really nice and speak english so they can help you if you need information about the aera and visits.

The room itself is not really 4* anymore and the bed, the bathroom wouls seriously need an update sooner or later. The bed was the worst part and I'd love them to update this.
Ask for a room facing the pool and the golf course on upper floor.
You have a balcony so very nice to sit outside and relax. Twin bed configuration is boring but ok (this is Spain).
Free wifi but not easy to use (low signal).

The SPA is not included but expect to pay 1 session 22 Euros or 3 sessions for 51 Euros which is worth it I think. Massage available and extra treatment as well.

In off season, this place is quiet, but in high season, with families and children, I imagine it would be very different.

For eating out, I recommend to drive to Rota (10-15 minutes)and find the Parilla Juan or Pesebre.

We'll come back. Keek doing well.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room, upper floor and facing pool and/or golf course

We spent one night here in february. Costa Ballena is a totally artificial resort which, as other reviewers have stated, is a ghost town off season. Finding a place to eat to avoid paying 24€ + drink for a buffet dinner at the hotel was very difficult.
Our room was large, clean and rather modern but wifi was very slow when available and there is no tea or coffee machine.
Breakfast was adequate but not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel.
There is no free parking on the premises (which is difficult to understand since there's plenty of room in this "middle of nowhere" place) and they charge 6€/night for the underground garage. Fortunately there was a public parking with free spaces 100m away.
The staff seemed bored except for the manager which we met on check-out who was very cheerful and sympathetic.

Rooms spacious but lack of extra pillows, bedding. Wifi sporadic and need to log in each time. No tea / coffee facilities in room - big miss! Charges for using mini safe in room! Very clean. Food adequate but nothing special. 10 min walk to golf club along road or beach. Beach very clean. Out of season resort is almost closed - shops/ bars. Would suit families because of pool / mini club. Probably not for couples in high season.

Room Tip: Ask for additional bedding / pillows and room on upper floors.

I spent 10 days here over the Christmas and New Year festivities and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The location of the hotel is excellent as miles of unspoiled beach is under 5 mins walk away and it's right near the golf course too.
My room was spacious, quiet and modern and was thoroughly cleaned every day.
The Spa is expensive, however I got a reduced rate as I paid for 9 consecutive days; I was unfamiliar with the whole Spa thing at first but soon got used to it and felt the benefits immediately. All food provided in the restaurant was of superb quality and there was always plenty of choice.

Room Tip: My room faced the Golf course and there was no sun on the balcony.

Nice hotel near a nice beach.
Rooms are clean and big.
The only but is the music at the pool at "siesta" time.
If you do not want to encounter "small beings" this is not the place.
The Costa Ballena beach is woth the while.
