“Incredible place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

We were there to celebrate my father's 70 birthday. Wonderfull place, wonderfull food. Althought the Villa is centurys old, the interior is very new. Rooms were very confortable and the bathroons very moderm and beautiful.
The property is runned by the owner, his wife and his mother, with makes the experience very much personal and you feel like home.
Location too, is very good, close to Montalcino and other turistic sites.
I very much recommend it, for couples, families or group of friends.

We spend three nights in Villa Armena and they were wonderful. We received a warm family welcome with our bags and car sorted out like a five star hotel. We were escorted to our junior suite (Orlando di Donusdeo) which was one of the best rooms I have stayed in my life. It was a few Euros more than the standard room but it was worth every cent. Complementary drinks followed with Sommelier Laura who took the time to show me around their wine cellar the next day and showed me her own private collection of Barolo.
They have found the perfect balance in Villa Armena; Eduardo, Elena, and Laura are always on hand to help in any way they can but not in your face. Housekeeping is done quietly and perfectly without getting in your way. The food is fresh and excellent from breakfast to dinner all homemade or locally sourced products. The wines are Italian that suit all pockets that has been tasted and approved by Laura. The rooms are quite where you can really sleep but at the same time have all the comforts of a five star hotel. The surroundings are the relaxing and peaceful Tuscan Hills with Siena 20 minutes away. What more can I say?
Will I go back? I haven’t finished discovering Tuscany.........this is my home there.

During our 4th trip through Tuscany we were only able to stay one night as we drove to Rome. I can not say enough about this hotel and I wish we had more time there. The hotel was spotless and the people were all so very welcoming. They were even very friendly to our 7 year old. He's very well behaved but sometimes you don't always feel welcome in boutique hotels or nice restaurants with a child.

We had 2 rooms and they were impeccable. The drive to the hotel is an impressive long road lined with cypress trees and the views from our rooms were stunning.

The highlight, however, had to be the food. We knew we would be short on time and when I booked the hotel, the restaurant looked good on their website. During our 25 day vacation (including 15 on a Transatlantic cruise) our best meals were in this hotel. I might even say the food was some of the best I've eaten in my life. Everything from the bread to the fresh wild boar and the pumpkin ravioli was just perfect. It was as if we were personal house guests of a Michelin-starred chef.

The service was also amazing. Our son has a shellfish allergy and, after a long day, he really just wanted pizza. We didn't even ask. Our server overheard him and came over to offer fresh home made pizza from "next door" which happens to be the home of the family that owns the hotel. A few minutes later she brought over a giant piece of pizza that was as good as any we've ever had.

After that meal I was really looking forward to their breakfast. Our stay was in late November during the week and the hotel itself was very quiet. We were the only people eating but the food they set up looked like it could feed 40. There were fresh pastries (the chocolate muffins were so good I wanted to put some in my pocket for later), yogurts, fruits, cereals, and champagne. The quality of the food and coffee was far beyond anything I'd ever seen at any hotel breakfast.

Based on the quality of the food, the perfect condition of the hotel, and the quality of the staff it is easy to tell that the owners have a solid vision of how they want to run their business and they execute it flawlessly. It was a rare experience where you feel as if they would never cut corners on their guests.

On our way out we talked about arranging a last minute winery tour on our way to Rome. We originally had other plans but the weather was not great. They recommended Poderi Boscarelli outside of Montepulciano and they offered to call to set up the tour for us. It was a perfect choice. As perfect as the Villa Armena itself.

Our first trip to Italy was always going to be special, for I intended to propose to my girlfriend once I'd found that "perfect" place. Well, as soon as we arrived at Villa Armena I knew that this was it. And so will you, for if there is a more perfect location high up in the hills of Tuscany, with such stunning accommodation, and incredibly friendly hosts, I'd be very surprised. The family that run this sensational hotel have transformed a very ancient site into a very modern yet extremely comfortable place to stay, there is a great restaurant and a fantastic wine cellar too. We were lucky enough to be offered the suite which was just fabulous- huge, with a large bath for two, separate sitting area, free wi-fi, and an HD TV which I was pleasantly surprised to find had Sky News. We did indeed get engaged at sunset in a little grotto area down by the pool, with the lights of Siena twinkling in the distance.....perfect. When we told our hosts they seemed genuinely happy for us, and they presented us with delicious Prosecco, to which the whole family toasted to our future. Such a lovely warm touch, and this was typical of the entire time we stayed there. Villa Armena has only been open since 2012, and we feel like we were lucky enough to see it before it gets booked up forever! Thank you Eduardo, Elena and Laura for making everything so special.

Tripadvisor followers, read no further if you are looking for THE getaway destination in Tuscany. Villa Armena is an exquisitely restored villa that represents the best of any Tuscan experience. The rooms were impeccably designed , the food was beyond any epicurean's expectation, and the staff made it simply the best 4 days I have ever had.
Eduardo, Elena, and Laura thank you for sharing your "home" with us.

We booked two nights at Villa Armena based on our friends' recommendation (who stayed there in May and loved it) and had high expectations, but our experience actually exceeded our expectations. Eduardo and Elena are one of the nicest people we've met. We travel a lot and stay in world class hotels and the rooms, grounds, restaurant and service were all outstanding! The villa is newly renovated and the rooms and common areas are beautifully designed. They mix old world charm with cutting edge modern design. We were especially impressed with the bathrooms. The stay was so good that we ended up staying an extending for another night. Highlly recommended.

After being a little concerned about driving up the long, gravel, hilly road, we arrived at Villa Armena to find an abolute gem in paradise! Eduardo, Ellena and Laura treated us as if we were royalty and made every aspect of our stay there exceptional. The space and design were attended to in every detail. Our room was gorgeous; the view spectacular and the location for getting around that region in Tuscany was perfect. We had an amazing dinner at the restaurant and would highly recommend it whether you stay there or not when in the area. Eduardo was so helpful in suggesting a daily itinerary for us. All of his recommendations turned out to be great. Can't say enough about this wonderful, "new but with an old-world soul" villa (only 10 rooms!)
