“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Superb - although it is out of town it is a beautiful hotel in lovely gardens. Great staff and well worth its 4 star rating.

However just one point to be aware of... it is probably the top pick in the area for wedding receptions so it can be busy. However music etc finished by 11.00pm.

We spent only one night to attend a ceremony nearby, but we loved this little Hotel. Modern rooms in an historical place, huge park all around, stunning view on the property and a great breakfast. If you consider the extremely reasonable fare, San Tommaso has all you could dream of. Service was also impeccable: we got soon our luggage in our room even if we left them in the parking area. For breakfast, besides fresh fruits and several pastries, we were given a delicious cappuccino and cornetto freshly filled with chocolate cream. The waiter even asked us if we preferred the fresh June figs peeled or not. The only small issue we had was when we asked an iron board. We got the iron, but there was not a board in the property. Nevertheless a maid promptly delivered sheets so that we could press our dress on the table. Yes, this is a place for wedding parties, and in fact there was one when we staid. But we went back in the room late in the night and the place was already a peaceful great place where to spend our night.

As previous reviews already stated, this is a place for weddings.
However, our room was large and nicely decorated. The bathroom was equipped with a tub and jacuzzi, but only a hand-held shower - we didn't fancy showering sitting on our knees...
Breakfast was nice, including several pastries and fresh fruits.
To get lunch or dinner, it was required to drive some 4 kilometres to town.
No possibilty to lay down in the sun as no sun-beds were offered, only sitting chairs and tables.

We chose San Tommaso because it looked very nice on the pictures & the reviews were good & the price very reasonable.we knew that this was an event hotel so we were a bit worried about the noise but actually were nicely surprised how well everything was organised.the rooms are very spacious & comfortable with high speed wifi & a great jacuzzi.the staff & specially the lady at the reception desk was very nice & helpfull.they actually full filed every request of ours & made us feel like king & queen with amazing lunches on the terrace & great service.the food was very delicious too.as for the noise the windows are well protected so you don't here much & for the reasonable prices you pay & high standart service I will highly recommend this hotel!

We finally stayed only one night in that hotel although we wanted to end our road trip in Italy relaxing in that hotel.
This is not obvious when we booked, but this place seems to be the local hot spot marrying, and there were 2 weddings on the day we were there (despite being a thursday). If you look for quietness and a nice view, this is not the place to go.

Stayed for a week here with boyfriend. The room we had was excellent with air conditioning and a lovely large terrace with a sea view. However the main business of the hotel is weddings. Every night. So if you're looking for ideas for your own wedding in Italy you can see a different one every night. None (or very few) of the wedding guests stay at the hotel just the bride and groom and it felt as if it was only us and the current bride and groom staying in the hotel. Lucky the weddings that took place during our visit were all Italian weddings so the guests were off the premises by 10.30/11pm. If it had been an Irish wedding good luck you'd have been listening to a singsong at 4am!
The staff were lovely, breakfast buffet was nice and the hotel itself is beautiful but it's well out of Polignano and you need a car to get down to the waterfront and to the town. This wasn't a problem for us but if you want to be in the centre of everything then this isn't the place for you.

The hotel is beutiful with good access to the highway. It's main business, however are weddings and not the rent of the rooms. As a result, there are weddings at this hotel EVERY NIGHT of the week except Sundays. If your room has doors or windows facing the Terrace, you will have no privacy. The wedding cake cutting ceremony takes place on the Terrace. The prep work for it starts in early afternoon and the party will be there soon after 8:30pm until about 10:00pm with music and fireworks. Also, the restaurant picture that you see in the websites with views of a town is a sister property, it is not located at the San Tommaso Hotel.
