“Wonderful Wedding Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We booked La Maltese (the entire property) for four nights for our wedding (~80 guests) and would thoroughly recommend it. The property itself is spectacular, with stunning caldera views, a beautiful veranda/pool, and charming details throughout the lobby and rooms. Note that rooms do vary significantly in size/setup. When booking the entire property it makes for additional character, but if you're booking one room, compare the various options. The suites are fantastic, especially for groups/families.

The staff was exceptionally helpful/attentive, particularly Adelina. She made our stay along with that of our ~20 hotel guests and 80 wedding guests memorable, including helping us actually get our wedding certificate in the end (long story...)

The restaurant and bar were fantastic, having tried breakfast, meals off their regular menu, and the catering provided for the wedding itself.

The wedding planning crew was helpful/attentive, but note that things do have their own pace in Greece. Being Greek I expected this to some extent, just be forewarned if you're used to a different style. It all comes together in the end.

The only negative experience had to do with booking the property. We had booked the entire property 6 months in advance for four nights. When we arrived, we were notified that one of the rooms would not be available due to a previous guest wanting to extend their stay. Without getting too into the details, the situation was eventually resolved, but we could have done without the headache.

We had a great time at La Maltese last August! We've been in Santorini for 1 week and really enjoyed the hotel, the bar and the restaurant. Adelina, the hotel manager, was truly amazing!! I strongly recommend this place for a romantic vacation because it has it all!!

We spend one night at La Maltese Estate Hotel and we enjoyed every second of it ! Staff was friendly and always ready for all of our requests! The view is amazing from one part of the island to the other and the well organized area of the veranda offers a great spot for an unforgettable sunset .. Allow George to indulge you with a cocktail and you have your piece of Heaven !
Definitely coming back for more days

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Santorini. This was our first visit and we had an amazing view. The manager of the hotel - Adelaine - is wonderful! She helped us constantly and graciously. The staff at the hotel was very nice and personable. The breakfast is wonderful - very filling and fantastic choices. The greek traditional egg dish is delicious and the Greek Yogurt is outstanding. The bar offered delicious cocktails served with an amazing view.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, request a honeymoon suite - best views at the hotel! The Blue Honeymoon suite...

A very pleasant surprise - after my booking I received communication from the hotel clarifying a few other matters that indeed they had upgraded my room to the honeymoon suite.

My first impression when I walked into the villa and saw the view of the caldera - simply wow! Not often a view takes one's breath away and this is stunning. The property is more boutique style with a few rooms, tasteful decor, clean and modern throughout. My room was on two levels overlooking the caldera, offering total tranquility and relaxation. It was also central enough to easily travel to Fira or Oia by bus (bus stop is 5 minutes away) and no need for taxis, the journeys all under 25 minutes and travel at regular intervals.

Personally the staff were top notch and made the holiday most memorable. We often commented that they were very gracious, friendly, more than happy to give suggestions about locations to visit in Santorini. Nothing seemed too much of a bother and they were simply outstanding. What gave it the extra 5 stars was the service, including the little extras the villa provided on a daily basis. The food was excellent too and we eat at the hotel several nights. It was also great to meet the chef Yanis, very friendly too whose meals were delicious and had the extra touch of finesse. Worthy of a mention is Adalina and Manos, they were simply superb, professional, very attentive and felt very well taken care of. Thank you to all of you.

Overall, great location with ease to access of many attractions and the service was outstanding.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the caldera are stunning

We chanced upon this property on a walk round Imerovigli and it was the find of our trip!

This boutique hotel is on the highest point of the caldera so has magnificent views (the main selling point of all the hotels in the area), but the real beauty of this hotel is it is so small (only 9-10 rooms) and intimate, and its exceptionally friendly staff.

On walking into the lovely lobby we were greeted by the charming Adalina and Dimitra, both immaculately presented, but warm and inviting (and very helpful and engaging during our stay). On seeing the room we were in no doubt. We stayed in the master suite which was huge, laid out on two floors, each with a bedroom and bathroom so could easily accommodate a family or two couples. It seemed almost too much space for just the two of us (if there is such a thing!).

The swimming pool was an okay size (if rather cold!) with a few adjacent sun beds plenty for the number of guests. Breakfast was excellent, with a good variety and additional a la carte options, and was served either on the terrace, in the lobby when a bit nippy or in the room if you prefer. It's also served till 11, which is a boon for late risers. The chap serving everyone's breakfast also deserves a mention (sorry but I didn't catch your name). Nothing was too much trouble and always had a beaming smile! We did not try the hotel's restaurant. There is also a spa with a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi which can be reserved for private use, which was a nice option in the evening.

Location is good if driving (as there is a car park next door), and it's only a 30 minute leisurely walk from Fira town centre with a smattering of cafés/bars and restaurants on the way. Beware it is uphill on the way back though! Also note Imerovigli is small; there are a couple of restaurants in the 'centre' (5-minute walk), but not really much else.

However, given how peaceful and relaxing the hotel is (we didn't often venture far because of this), this was not an issue. Also the view of the sunset is easily as good as Oia without the crowds!

There was a wedding one of the nights we stayed there but we barely noticed, and we did not see (or hear) any work being done on the property next door.

Thanks to everyone at La Maltese for a perfect stay!

Room Tip: All the suites with a caldera view seemed nice, but the master suite was truly superb (80sqm!). High...

Ditto everyone else with the amazing view and the friendliness and helpfulness of the concierge staff. The staff were particularly accommodating and flexible with check-in and check-out times due to inconvenient flight timing and arranging airport transfers and were very attentive and good at making guests feel at home. Hotel food is amazing and quite gourmet as well. Although not particularly centrally located, the location affords one of the highest and best vantage points of the caldera and is just a 20 minute walk downhill to the capital, Fira.
