We have recently returned from a wonderful vacation on Mykonos and Santorini. We stayed at Andromeda for 5 nights at the end of September (perfect time to go). The first thing that must be said in review of this hotel is that the location is stunning. The views are absolutely breathtaking. We liked being in Imerovigli, in between Fira and Oia. Oia is a must see, a memorable 2 hour hike, or a quick 15 minute bus ride, depending on your preference. Our initial impression of our hotel room was a bit disappointing. We had booked a superior room, but the one we were given we found to be dark and we did not have a private balcony. We contemplated checking out early, but the front desk staff offered us an upgrade to a suite, which was brighter and more suited to what we were looking for. Overall, we were quite pleased with the hotel. It is very clean, and the staff were accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was okay, but it could use a bit of variety and perhaps another staff member to handle the crowd. If you wanted to opt out of the breakfast, we found a great little cafe about 10 minutes walk away that fit the bill. We had one dinner in the dining room, it was good, but as other reviewers have noted, there are lots of choices within a short distance. This is a good hotel, a bit of attention to some details would make it a very good hotel. We would stay here again, but we would definitely book a suite.

Booking a hotel in Santorini was a daunting experience overall--even though it was September, we found that many of the places we were interested in were already booked up. We wanted a caldera side hotel with sea views and a pool. To get all of this, you have to up your price point. You pay extra for the location of course.

While the Andromeda was not one of our first choices, it turned out to be a wonderful hotel. We had read the reviews on tripadvisor before we selected, and of course were nervous about any choice we made because there are always some really bad reviews. But we took the plunge. And are we glad we did! The Andromeda was FABULOUS!

We ended up booking a Superior room because the time of year we went made it more affordable than if we had gone in July/Aug. The room was at pool level, right beside the pool bar/cafe and was beautiful....and surprisingly quiet. We thought it might be noisey being beside the bar, but this was not a rowdy hotel. It was totally chilled out and mellow.

Our room had two bedroom areas, a mini kitchenette, sitting area and private veranda. It was very clean and modern. The only down side was that the bathroom was really small---but this is the case with pretty much every hotel room we experienced across Greece. You also must buy bottled water as you cant drink the water on Santorini apparently. But bottled water is suprisingly cheap.

We chose not to partake of the breakfast buffet at our hotel. It was pretty pricey and by the time we got there we were sick of the 'continental' selections offered at Greek hotels. Instead we bought groceries from a nearby market and made our own breakfasts in the kitchenette. The sandwiches and salads and appetizers we ate from the restaurant there were really good and reasonably priced, but we did not like the one dinner we had (swordfish and 'oriental' souvlaki). Its probably advisable to go out for dinner in Fira, or just stick to sides rather than mains. All the portions are good and shareable.

Overall the hotel staff were helpful, but our general experiences in all Greek hotels was that finding a 'nice/friendly' staff person was rare. Maybe its just a cultural thing? Im not sure. There were a few exceptions at this hotel though---I swear, these people were never allowed to go home!

Yes, there are lots of stairs at the hotel, but there are also two elevators. And the stairs are not daunting unless you have trouble walking or are really out of shape. Dont worry about this...its nice to get in a little exercise between all the lounging!

I highly recommend this hotel for couples. Its very serene and romantic and there is a great rim-side walk over to Fira. You can buy your own wine at the market and enjoy it on your private balcony/veranda and take in the amazing view. It was a very nice surprise to arrive and just feel so relaxed after our whirlwind mainland roadtrip.

“We were disappointed by this hotel”

We were expecting more for the money we paid-
The service personnel, the room cleanliness, room features-all were under the level required for the price paid. I do not recommend anyone going to this hotel. There are many other hotels in the area that are welcoming their guests and have adequate services. Also, it is more convenient to select a hotel in Fira town center.

We were looking for a hotel with a great view and we got it. We didn't have to share our balcony but we were so close to our 2 neighbours that we didn't really have a lot of privacy.

For the price we paid you would expect that breakfast & use of safety deposit box are included, but NO, we had to pay extra for them.

Andromeda Villas was a fabulous hotel. The staff was more than friendly and accommodating. The view, right on the Caldera, was amazing. Each room has a great view. The superior room has a large bed, small kitchenette, table and chairs, big windows and the view I came for. I would recommend NOT taking the first floor rooms by the bar unless you plan to be up late and at the bar. The hotel restaurant, again, right over the Caldera and great for sunset, served good Greek food, pizza, fish, sandwiches, dessert. All is FRESH which was nice. You can walk into Fira, the main town, via the cliff walk...very exciting or hop a bus which is close by. Small grocery with fair prices is right across the street. English is spoken. A great experience.
