“Fantastic views and helpful staff, promising future for this hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

We were part of a large group celebrating a wedding on the island. The owner of the hotel, James, was always available to meet our requests and needs. He is very knowledgeable of services available in Santorini and can easily offer solutions. His staff, especially Georgia are an asset to the hotel. The breakfast is very good and includes hot and cold selections without pressure for time to get there in time.

The rooms vary among them in size and style, the top rooms offer loft style bedrooms and beds on the ground floor, while the ground floor rooms are simply laid out with a nice terrace.

I know that the hotel will undergo renovations and I look forward to seeing the result of these. It may not be a 5 star hotel yet, but it has all the goods to get there.

The rooms here are the worst we have ever seen. Notice that there are no pictures of them. The views are fantastic and the staff save the place. James can be nice when he wants but don't count on him to follow thru.

Room Tip: Rooms are generally poor. You would not want to spend any time in them. However, they are very, ve...

After staying in Imerovigli before at other various hotels and reviewing many new hotels, we decided to rent out Imerovigli Palace for our Pre-Wedding week. We had about 30 family and friends staying there with us and it was THE BEST CHOICE WE MADE. Not a person in our party was disappointed by the rooms, the views are some of the best on the island and James, the new manager, did his best to please our large group.

The buffet breakfast is delightful with a large selection of warm foods, cereal, eggs, meats, yogurt, fruit, pastries, you name it, its there. Georgia, who runs the bar/cafe on site, made our daily parties a smash and was always sweet and eager to please – plus she makes a good pizza and a beautiful mozzarella tomato salad not to be missed - we couldn't have had so much fun without her help. They have a large bar, great drinks, they have a really good wine selection.

The rooms are all a bit different, some with loft bedrooms, some single floors, all have either a balcony or terrace and a view from every room that is amazing. The hotel itself has lots of traditional island charm and tons of character. The linens were very clean, smelled fresh and the housekeeping always did a great job with cleaning the rooms daily. They even provide laundry services upon request which is very hard to find in most greek hotels. The bathrooms are very adequate and offer Korres toiletry products which are really nice and some rooms have Jacuzzi tubs that are welcoming on a chilly fall evening.

Since switching ownership they are in the process of making some updates and plan to upgrade some of the hotels features which will only help excel the quality of this already amazing hotel.

The pool area is fantastic, a large beautifully clean pool, comfortable lounge chairs, and again, one of the best views on the island, especially at sunset. There are no power lines or other buildings blocking the sunset that you find a lot in the center of Imerovigli and Oia. Another cool feature not shared by most hotels on the island is the view of the non-caldera side of the island also where sunrise occurs – being just outside of Imerovigli towards Oia, the hotel is on one of the narrowest parts of the island so you get an awesome view of both caldera (cliff) and ocean views towards the beaches. It’s a very special location you really feel like you are in the clouds.

We were married at the church up the hill (Agios Markos) which is a nice walk and has fantastic views. We also walked to Fira on more than one occasion which is a fun walk. Took us about 45 minutes including stops to take pictures. Taxis and buses are very easily accessible from the hotel and James can help with rental cars/mopeds, and any other transport necessary.

Again, we have stayed at many hotels around Greece, and Imerovigli Palace is one of our favorites. The quality and personal attention given by James and his staff is above average and with its fantastic location and James continually doing his best to please his customers this hotel will only continue to get better! We hope to be back sooner than later. Our only wish was to stay longer ;-)

B & T

Room Tip: All rooms have a great view but the upper rooms have private balconies that are a nice addition.

Charming hotel with a wonderful host; the most relaxing place on the planet. Breathtaking sunsets from a private terrace; a private loggia for avoiding the mid-day sun, a country bedroom with a huge comfortable bed and views across the sea. True enough the bathroom is a bit poky and primitive but so what? Excellent buffet breakfast, no pressure on time, a large terrace and a pool; bliss!

Room Tip: The first floor (ground level ) rooms have the best position.

This was our second visit to Santorini - we loved the island so much the first time, we decided to visit again. Santorini itself is still gorgeous and amazing, but this time around was disappointing because The Imerovigli Palace was not anything close to what we expected. The pool and bar area are fine. Although the pool water was freezing so you're never going to actually get in. Time to invest in a solar cover and heat that water. The views are very pretty, however having experienced the views from a private balcony actually IN the town of Imergovigli last time, this location just isn't as nice. I think staying among the white washed, stacked cliff towns (Imerovigli, Oia or Fira would all be great) is what makes Santorini so magical. You don't get that here. Our room was big, but very very basic. Unattractive decor, not great bed or bedding. Horrible towels - felt like sandpaper. My husband called them "exfoliating towels" as a joke. It wasn't funny. Unattractive, tiny bathroom. The shower reminded me of camping. I'm not a camping type of girl and this wasn't supposed to be a camping vacation.
I would not recommend Imerovigli Palace to a friend.

Just returned from my honeymoon, we stayed in Santorini at this hotel for 4 nights. The views are breathtaking and incredible. The hotel is just outside of the actual town of Imerovigli, there is a path along the hotels with no cars to bother you that's about a 15 min walk up/down hill to get to the town for dinner. The hospitality at this place was great, very heartwarming people, always smiling and rushing to accommodate you. The owner of the hotel is the reception and helps with booking excursions and rentals if needed. We rented a ATV for 2 days, hotel has free parking. The owner called the rental place (Jimmy) and they arrived to pick us up. ATV are the best way to experience santorini. We were also recommended to take a catamaran boat trip around the island (95 Euro) but worth it. You get to see and swim to the red beach and the sulfur springs (not hot springs as people think).
I think the bathrooms needs some updating but they are fine enough to get by. We were in the Honeymoon room which had a Jacuzzi tub but its only for 1 person despite what it may say. The restaurant offers a limited menu but they are working on that. There is a full bar and drinks are good. The pool is one of the biggest in the area. You should know that it gets very windy since Imerovigli is the highest point of all in Santorini so bring something to cover up at night.
Visit all the beaches, see an outdoor cinema in Kamari and eat wherever you can. Greek food is delish!

Room Tip: Go for a upgraded room to get the better views

The Imerovigli Palace and staff were incredibly helpful. James made sure we had everything we needed on the island. He shared his favorite spots and excursions on the island with us. All were great, affordable and made easy with his help arranging them. Our room had great views of the sunrise and the sunset. The location at the highest part of the island offers views that rival oia at sunset.

Room Tip: Go for the double view.
