Very happy with my decision to book here….
About me: 27, male, from NYC, on honeymoon, laid back
Overall the place is great and the staff is super friendly. From emails months before we arrived until the day we checked out the were always polite, prompt and courteous.
We had a “regular apartment” but it has to be one of the best. It was number 3 and it was quite large, bed was loft like, had a private balcony and full kitchen facilities. I would highly recommend number 3.
There are a few common areas where you can simply cull up with a bottle of wine and good book and watch the sunset if you choose. There is even a room with internet, TV, stereo and books you can borrow.
I will say this, some of the rooms by the pool are not too private once you are on your balcony. Be sure to ask about this. We were on one of the lowest levels which is not fun with all the steps but we were near the public path to Fira and it was very private.
In regards to the area, Imerovigli is a good place to stay but now that I look back I probably would have preferred Firostefani. It’s not too far from the main town, lets say between 15-20 minutes depending on how fast you walk. We would usually walk in but cab it back, after we had too much Ozou! Cabs were about 5-7 Euro back to the hotel. Not bad at all.
There is a little mini market right across the street and I advise you to go there right after you check in and stock up. It’s .80 cents Euro for an Amstel from the market or 5 Euro from the mini bar, you choose!
I will say this, forget viewing the sunset from a fancy restaurant or from Oia, our hotel had amazing sunsets. So amazing that an applause would occur each night as it fell behind the volcano.
We rented an ATV and went all over the island. I recommend it and the hotel will set it up for about 22 Euros a day. Me and My wife are both small people and the 50cc ATV had trouble going up hills, if you are bigger than me 160 lbs, get a 100 or even 150 cc.
We did not do the hotel breakfast but my wife would whip us up some toast or eggs or yogurt from the market in the room for about a quarter of the cost.
Santorini is really a magical place and we can not wait to return. One tip, go to Ammoudi the small port below Oia and walk past all the restaurants over the rocks. Actually I take it back, eat at Sunset then continue walking. About a 5 minute walk, there you will find the most amazing, secluded swimming hole with views of all of Santorini. There was only about 6 people there when I went.
No matter what, you will like this hotel. I paid 200 Euro a night, mid Sept.
A little tip, do not get the 50 Euro transfer from the hotel. We grabbed a taxi at the port for 20 total, just make sure you are one of the first people off the ferry as there are only 39 cabs in all of Santorini.
We visited Mykonos and Paros as well. Please let me know if you have any questions.
