“Don't hesitate, go for it (Room 5)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

This review is valid for the honeymoon room (not the suite), number 5 (better situated than the other honeymoon room). This is in fact the room you see at the photos.
The room itself is big enough for a couple, well decorated and quiet. The MUST is the view, you have the most privacy at this balcony than in any other room. You enjoy the best sunset in the island. You can see a part of the volcano, Thirassia (the island in front) and the town of Oia. Nothing else in front of you. It is some stairs down but not really a problem.
The hospitality is excellent, in fact never felt as welcome as in Regina Mare in any other hotel in the world. The food is excellent too, you can enjoy breakfast or lunch at the balcony.
Concerning the umbrellas near the pool; in fact not enough for everybody but if you have this room you don't care, you have the best sunbeds in your balcony and you just go down for a swim at the pool. During our stay there were more German people, a very clever nation...the had the best idea to put their towels early in the morning at the sunbeds to prevent anybody taking them. A big BRAVO for them.
Our holidays became more exciting when the girls at the reception responding at our demand for information proposed for us a sunset cruise with a sailing boat (catamaran named Dream Catcher). This is definitely a thing to do.
Resuming, this was my 8th time in Santorini, Regina Mare is the best value for money hotel I've been till now. Choose honeymoon room number 5 if you can.
Big thank you for the team

My wife and I spent a week in the Regina Mare at the end of June and had an absolutely wonderful time.
The hotel was luxurious but managed to keep a lovely homely feel too. A well struck balance.
(Do not be put off by the fact that, as I write, it is ranked 24 of 44. The scoring is so close and a quick glance at the Top 25 hotels in the World is revealing as 2 of those are in Imerovigli, an unbelievable achievement given the size of the town!)

We were met off the bus by a porter who works at the total who guided us and carried our bags to the hotel. Very useful as it is a bit of a maze to start with!

On arrival we were given a complimentary drink and snack and looked out at the most amazing view across the caldera.

Our room (number 10) had its own balcony overlooking the pool with a table where we enjoyed our breakfasts and, more importantly, a bottle of wine each night watching the magnificent sunsets.
The room was very well equipped with a fridge (excellent for wine storage!), a very comfortable bed and a very nice bathroom with a lovely powerful shower.
All are kept spotlessly clean.

The breakfasts, as others have mentioned, are legendary!
There are the usual cereals, yogurts, fruits, cheeses, cold meats, sausages, bacon, eggs etc. but these are accompanied each day with a variety of different home made delights. The only problem is there is not enough room in the stomach to try all the tempatations!

Imerovigli is beautifully loacted and, in my opinion, the best spot on the island to appreciate the magnificent sunsets.
It is quiet but does have a number of restaurants (about 10, I have reviewed a few of them), and a convenience store within easy walking distance (about 5 minutes).
There are no bars in the town.
The capital, Fira, is about 30 minutes walk downhill and by following the coast makes for a lovely scenic stroll.
Alternatively buses from Oia to Fira stop at Imerovigli and take about 5 minutes (1.80Euros). They are pretty frequent passing once every 20 minutes or so and a taxi from the centre costs only 5 Euros.
Fira, has everything you need. Many restuarants, bars and nightclubs and well as the usual assortment of shops that you would expect in a holiday destination.

Being very small, the island itself is very easy to get about. We used the buses to go to the beach, Akrotiri and to get back from Oia (having walked the costal route, 2.5 hours).
All are very reasonably priced (around 2 Euros per trip) and frequent.

Finally, to cap it all off, my wife left some jewellery in the room and the hotel kindly forwarded it on to our UK address.

All in all a magnificent holiday in a beautiful setting!

Room Tip: I would suggest trying to get a room above pool level as you then have a totally unobstructed view a...

We stayed a week at this beautiful charming hotel, since the begining of our stay we were received with a hug and a kiss, the way I understand hospitality should be! I have read several reviews and was looking forward to the view and the breakfast, our room had a private balcony to enjoy the sunset, best view in Santorini…glass of wine on our hand admiring the stunning caldera!
The service was impeccable, reception, housekeeping, and the COOK! She really knows how to spoil you with that breakfast, best one ever had!
We only found a constructive critic that is the Bathroom (out of fashion for a 4* Hotel) and a 14’’ TV…too small.
Great place to appreciate the best view of Santorini!!!

My husband and I have just come back from a 7 day holiday at the Regina Mare - one of the best holidays we have ever had, everything about it was fantastic, fabulous views, helpful and friendly staff, the standard of cleanliness was very high and the best breakfast we have ever eaten. I have to have a gluten free diet and I emailed the hotel before our holiday - they couldn't have been more helpful and even went to the trouble of buying me gluten free products to have with my breakfast. We will definitely return.

My husband and I stayed at Regina Mare two weeks ago to kick off our two week Anniversary trip to Greeece and Turkey and what a place to begin! From the moment we arrived, we could not get enough of the breathtaking views, wonderful staff, over the top breakfasts, and the overall feel of Regina Mare. It has a luxury feel, but is so mellow and unpretentious! Their staff is so generous, helped us with our every need, and arranged atv's, restaurants, etc. for us. Additionally, the breakfast was some of, if not the best food we ate in Greece! I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Also, their location in Imerovigli really is, in my opinion the perfect location! It's outside of Fira enough so there is no hustle and bustle, but close enough that if you're up for a lovely walk, you can be there in 25 minutes (or 5 minute taxi), which we did every night for dinner and sunset. The walk was always the perfect way to begin an evening out. It is set off of the main foot path that runs along the island as well, so there isn't any foot traffic. A stay at Regina mare will leave you more than satisfied and probably wishing it was longer, just as we did. Regina mare is a wonderful boutique hotel!!,

Absolutely fabulous! We booked this hotel following a recommendation from friends and were not disappointed! Everything from the stunning location to the extremely welcoming and friendly service, was superb. The hotel is located on the edge of the caldera at the end of Imerovigli village but is within easy walking distance of both Firo Stefani and Fira. Everyone at the hotel goes out of their way to ensure you have a perfect holiday. The breakfasts are fabulous with a huge range of freshly prepared homemade food as well as the usual cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt. All of the facilities at the hotel including the rooms are kept immaculately clean and any queries are dealt with promptly. We couldn't write a review without mentioning the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see, they are absolutely stunning night after night!

We would echo the other recent reviews of this hotel in that the views are stunning across the caldera - in fact they are breathtaking. The hotel is right at the end of the village so perfectly positioned for peace and quiet whilst easy to get to local restaurants. A good breakfast spread each morning freshly prepared and plenty of variety . We had a superior double which was fine but the rooms do vary quite a bit .
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful
We will definitely be going back.
You can easily walk into Fira along the narrow path between the hotels and never set foot on the main road.
We used the local buses which were excellent - either from iImerovigil or from the main bus station in Fira. Its about 30 mins to the beaches in the SW.
The walk along the caldera rim to Oia is amazing - hot but worth it
One word of warning - you need to be fit and able to walk up & downstairs to enjoy Santorini - the whole place is one long walk up or down steps. Not a kids place at all
The sea swimming was great but the beaches are grey stones/ black sand and very hot

Room Tip: Rooms tend to be small but ask for one refurbished ones
