“Not 5; It's 10 stars!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

I did not book this place actually. However, I and my wife were fortunate to get one-night stay at this hotel. Thanks to Sophia of Absolute Bliss Suites (which we booked), who arranged our stay at Gold suites for one night as the Honeymoon Suite at Absolute Bliss was not ready. And whoa... totally loved it. One honest confession - I liked Gold Suites more than Absolute Bliss (which was superb as well).

The staff at this hotel were very courteous. And we loved the luxurious and spacious private terrace with a jacuzzi. The suite was very nicely decorated and amenities inside were perfect. We absolutely loved this place, albeit having a short stay here.

Room Tip: Room with outside jacuzzi

We stayed here after extending our holiday. We originally were booked into the Gold Suite's sister hotel the Chromata and they could not give us a room for the 3 extra nights we wanted to stay so they moved us to this hotel and also upgraded us to a Suite!
Fantastic room, excellent service. Location is great, not very central but a 5 min taxi ride to town centre. The only slight down point was the pool area was very small and a few guests complained when they couldn't get sun loungers but it wouldn't put me off staying again.

This hotel can brag about the view but facing facts, the view is absolutely breathtaking from most places on the island. Its out of the way location, is actually a plus. Its half way between Fira and Oia but perfect for peace and ease of getting between the two. Gold Suites did upgrade us upon arrival (see www.slh.com) but it wasn't for our entire stay which was a hassle. Now we did stay longer than most, 10 days but found that moving really disrupted our vacation even though they did try to lessen the inconvenience. We also found that we were not the only ones, it seems many people there for more than 2 nights were required to move rooms. Both suites were fine and as outlined in marketing material so no real surprises. The included breakfast was definitely more than was promised being both delicious and substantial. The service for the most part was again what was promised, great (arrival snack was very nice) although sometimes inconsistent were you would not expect it.

That;s were the downsides come in. I had left a message to speak with the Manager, Peggy which was never returned and after questioning, we never got an answer as to why. We did have to ask for pool towels on a daily basis for five days but again delivered with apologies. The bar was literally five steps from the patio of one of our suites. We ordered at the bar and were going to sit down but the barman said he would bring them over to the patio which we thought was lovely. He did but then charged us room service fees! Also after the large breakfasts, both my husband and I just wanted something light for lunch, a piece of fruit or a bun which we got at the local market to enjoy quickly in our room before venturing out again. You would think we were bringing in a nuclear device with disapproving looks and talk. Apparently, there is a no outside food or drink policy at the hotel which includes water. We didn't know and frankly, ignored this after their reactions to our initial ignorance.

On that note, there is a lovely little market very close to the hotel, an amazing bakery in town, and great little tavernas nearby as well. Caution though, only drink the house white wines which are local and quite good, The house or local reds are less palatable.

All that being said, we would return but would not move suites once were there and although the staff was attentive, messages or valid reasons why not should always be returned to paying guests if your are wanting to be of a small luxury hotel caliber and charge the rates that you do.

We stayed at Gold Suites in August 2012 on our honeymoon and had high expectations of Santorini, all of which were easily surpassed. Peggy welcomed us with a smile (and a glass of champagne) and it went on from there. The standard of the room was great, we had our own pool and patio area with breathtaking views over the Caldera. Gold Suites is an ideal size with few rooms and hence never feels crowded. The very friendly service by Dimitrius and his little brother Panos behind the pool bar added to the experience and we put them through their paces with a wide variety of cocktails. We ate at Gold Suites a few times and the food was good. Several other restaurants, some within easy walking distance in Imerovigli and slightly further down the hill in Fira, were great, particularly the seafood. We took a boat trip with 'Caldera Cruises' which I would definitely recommend, the boat wasn't too big and our party size was ideal (about 10), it was unhurried, we were fed really well and stayed out for the sunset which looked amazing from the water (the sunsets aren't too shabby from land either!). We can't wait to go back to Santorini, Imerovigli and Gold Suites.

We had the pleasure of staying in Gold Suites for 3 nights while on our honeymoon in Santorini. This hotel is gorgeous and the service is fabulous! The receptionist and staff were very helpful and gladly recommended restaurants and places to visit throughout the island. Our rooms had an amazing view of Oia and the surrounding areas and was a 5 minute or less cab ride to Fira, the capital of Santorini. We highly recommend coming to this hotel for a luxury experience you don't want to miss!

We ended up here for 2 night, by chance as our room at San Antonio suites was overbooked.
The hotel put us up here in one of the top rooms with our own heated pool and terrace.

The views are simply amazing and the sunsets over the caldera are fully visible from this hotel. The room we had was clean and very well equipped.

The staff were all very helpful. The food was not as good as would be expected from a hotel of this standard, I would recommend eating out for dinner, there are so many places to eat in santorini.
The rooms terraces are all quite close to each other and and some of the outdoor connecting stairways are located quite close to the terraces, so staff and other guests walking around can peer in - which is a shame, but did not bother me too much as We were staying for 2 days, but if I was staying here for a week It may become an issue.

We booked this hotel after researching SLH hotels in Santorini. We wanted to be located near to Thira but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of a busy town. This hotel certainly met our criteria. The great thing about this hotel is that it isn´t overlooked, unlike most of the other hotels in Imerovigli. The walk into town is fabulous and takes approximately 20 minutes.
We opted for a Junior Suite when we booked and were allocated a fantastic room (Room number 1) The views from this room are stunning, you get to enjoy the sunsets over Oia every day! The room was tastefully decorated and was always clean and tidy.
The staff really made this a wonderful holiday for us, they really couldn´t have done any more. We were greeted by Miss Peggy and a welcome glass of Cava on arrival. When I commented how much I had liked the wine, she made a point of writing down the name of it for me. The waiters were very friendly and attentive, nothing was ever too much trouble. We were even treated to a special feast of a breakfast on our last day. The fact that you can enjoy your breakfast on the balcony every morning, rather than having to go down to a communal dining area, is a fabulous bonus. We were offered the Deluxe Suite for the second week of our holiday, but to be honest we loved the fact we had our own private jacuzzi on the balcony that we declined the offer. We mentioned to Miss Peggy that the only thing that was missing from the balcony was a nice candle for the evenings. When we returned later on the staff had put a lantern outside for us.
This is a very unique and special hotel and is ideal for couples on a romantic break. We really can´t wait to come back!

Room Tip: Room 1 has a jacuzzi on the balcony.
