We were recommended to try La Maison for our wedding meal, as a party of nine.
First impressions were deceiving, it initially appeared to be just another restaurant in Imerovigli, with simple tables and chairs.
The menu choice seemed a little restricted, but the quality of the food more than made up for it.
The first course was an unexpected surprise, a micro-dish of local fare consisting of red snapper eggs, ground olive and feta cheese. I usually loathe olives, but the taste here was excellent.
Appetisers varied between seafood, Greek sausage, tomato bhaji (amazing!) and the whole party was highly impressed with the taste and service.
The waitress recommended a local wine which was crisp and dry, a few bottles were quaffed by the party with relish.
For main course I had a filet steak to die for on a bed of piped vegetables, my wife of two hours chose sea bass on cauliflower purée, again a winner, and the rest of the party had a variety of chicken, pork and shrimp (which were moist and huge).
For dessert we chose panna cotta, it was in a kiwifruit jus, and a spectacular end to a wonderful day.
If you only visit one restaurant in this village (and there are plenty of other places well worth trying), then make it La Maison.
