“Good but there is better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013 via mobile

Almost every luxury hotel on Santorini has great views so it is hard to write reviews (or try to choose) without comparisons. We stayed at Andronis Boutique Hotel in Oia and San Antonio Suites, back to back, and it was a revelation. Andronis, for about the same price, was better in every way. The room was larger (even though at San Antonio we were upgraded to Master Suite, their largest, while at Andronis we stayed at a junior suite, not even their largest). The deco and furnishing was higher class. Service was more genuine. Location was better: in the middle of Oia but very quiet as soon as one descends into the hotel. I wish we stayed longer at Andronis! We paid half of the published rates at San Antonio and it was still not as good value for money as Andronis. By wary of San Antonio's web rates, if you choose to stay there. If we paid the full web rates, we would really have felt terrible.

From arrival to departure, the San Antonio exceeded my expectations. Aware that my party and I would be arriving early in the morning at Thira Airport, I pre-arranged an airport transfer via the hotel. We were met by a professionally dressed and welcoming hotel staff member who was kind enough to give recommendations on what to see and do on the island. I highly recommend the hotel's transfer services as taking the taxi may not be any cheaper (our inbound transfer was complimentary and the outbound transfer was €20).

The hotel itself is beautiful as advertised and is stunningly built into the cliffside at the narrowest point in Santorini, affording both views of the Caldera and of the island's northern shore.

The double room I had was well-appointed with modern amenities and a jacuzzi in the bathroom. Though my room was located above the pool area, I had a very quiet stay due to the adult-only nature of the hotel, in spite of the fact that the hotel was fully booked. The staggered location of the hotel rooms at the resort ensures that veranda areas remain very private and quiet, and I often took advantage of the room's veranda to read and relax.

The meals my party and I had at the San Antonio were outstanding. The breakfast spread each morning was very fresh and eggs are cooked-to-order. The Cliffside Restaurant is a wonderful place to enjoy dinner and I would highly recommend having dinner during sunset, when colors in the caldera begin to change. There was a vegetarian in my party and the restaurant was very accommodating. Dinner prices are quite reasonable (atleast by NYC, London, and Paris standards).

Service at the hotel and restaurant was first-rate. Staff members were accessible and kind and projected the mentality that no request was too difficult.

Many other reviews have written about the isolated location of the hotel. I found the location to be a huge plus given that crowds were beginning to pick up when I visited and Oia and Fira were packed with tourists each day. However, I never found the hotel too isolated. Access to other parts of the island was very easy as the hotel offers its own car/ATV rental services and taxis are readily available.

Overall I had a restful and pleasant stay. I was enchanted each day by the postcard views and was sad to leave. I definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again in the future.

From arrival all the staff were very welcoming. The food in the restaurant is amazing and not too over the top. We went for a special occasion and the staff definitely made it special. The view from the restaurant is amazing overlooking Imerovigli and Thira.

If I said that I couldn't fault anything about this resort, I would be being perfectly honest. It's a one of a kind luxurious getaway. The buildings are beautifully set into the side of the cliffs, and are luxurious, they haven't left anything out. There is even a beautiful little chapel in the very spacious foyer. The infinity pool is designed for swimming and is kept immaculately clean. The breakfast is very comprehensive, everything from cold cuts, to eggs cooked to your liking, plenty of fruit and pastries. The staff are helpful in the extreme, nothing is too much trouble. This resort also has spa facilities on site, not something we usually do, so can't voice an opinion on the quality of their services, but would imagine if it's anything like the rest of the resort, it would be top notch. The quality of the king size bed and all the furnishings etc., is first class. Things like towels seem to be changed as soon as you use them. Even around the pool area as soon as you leave the area the beautiful towels with motifs on them are changed. This is the first time I have seen champagne in the mini bar! The jacuzzi was also a favourite thing of ours. I have probably missed a lot of things, but am so glad I didn't miss going to San Antonio suites!

Not the best of location since its in the middle of Imerovigli & Oia but the property totally makes up for it and more! Infinity pool, in the middle of 2 hills (like a valley), views of caldera, totally private. Was upgraded to a honeymoon suite - room was built within the rocks, modelled like an igloo, very tastefully decorated and modern. Outdoor Jacuzzi with breath taking views, we had ALL our meals sitting outside the room from sunrise to sunset, the view never bores you. Breakfast was great with amazing views once again. Great service from the hotel staff and they could arrange airport transfer for you at very reasonable prices. Couldn't bear to leave the place at all.

Had two nights here and got a nice upgrade to a room with spectacular views and an amazing balcony, breakfast great, food in general great, staff excellent. Loved it. Two small things wifi not great and only bath with shower head, minor things for this perfect hotel
