“Porkchop with honey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

Also been coming to Galini for over 15 years now!
Since a few years we have a tradition that on every first night in town we go to Ariston for a delicious porkchop with honey...
Great price, great service, large portions, more than enough wine,...
Aris is a great chef and Eleni is one of the friendliest waitresses around! Do check out this lovely restaurant!!

“The perfect flavour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

This place is so great. Every detail is pure Cretan, and everything is just a little bit more than you expect. The olive paste with the bread, the waitresses fat and happy kids at their regular table, their mothers gorgeous smile & pride. In adiddtion to great bread and salad, we shared three plates of kleftiko, moussaka and stifado. Each is a traditional, great Cretan dish, and at Ariston, we really felt how different and unique they all are. The stifado had the great onion sweetener, the kleftiko lamb had no feta, but a perfect amount of rosemary, and the moussaka was flavoured with cinnemon, cardamom and something sweet that we had a hard time identifying.

On the walls, remnants of the old days remind you of the forceful, stubborn and proud Cretes; agricultural tools, old weapons and nationalistic pictures - in the most positive sense of the word.

Not more expensive than any other taverna. Great value for money.

The best food I had in Crete.

“The best Lamb Kleftiko in town !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2011

Coming to Agia Galini for over more than 15 years, Taverna Ariston is still THE best place to eat in the village ! The service is very friendly and the food is excellent with a lot of variation. The Lamb Kleftiko will allways stay my number one favorite !
