“Average food with average service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

The waitress was nice, but hadn't given any special service or attitude. All the rice in my stuffed vegetables was undercooked, though the sauce was tasty. Tzatziki was somewhat average. But the fish soup was delicious, as well the fried calamari.
I wanted to pay with my credit card, but the waitress hasn't known how to deal the payment and the boss was away, so we had to wait 15 minutes until his arrival. During this time we haven't received any attitude from the waitress. Was quite annoying.

“Could do better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

The waitress was very good at turning on the charm to pull in new customers and our starters were fine so we were feeling good about the place. Unfortunately my chicken souvlakia was disappointingly dull and my wife was not inspired by the paella. They seem to be working on the philosophy that huge portions and loads of raki will stop you from noticing the mediocre standard of cooking. I guess if you are happy with average pub grub it will do but we found many better places at no greater expense. We only went once, so perhaps they were having a bad day.

“Real cretan fare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

Just spent 3 weeks in Galini and we ate at Kosmas taverna at least 10 times and everytime we had a great meal. The food was real cretan recipes, try the cheese saganaki its fantastic. The chef really is top notch and presents the food beautifully. Kosmas is a great host and is always offering advice on nice places to visit on Crete. He is also a fan of Olympiakos and if you like to talk about football Kosmas is your man.To sum up if you try this taverna you will not be disappointed.

“For authentic greek food must go here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Amazing food and amazing owner. Heis a funny guy and a unique character. Beware! he might get you drunk with home made Raki and stuff you with food. Its huge amount of food so be careful when you order. Its impossible to go for starter, main dish and dessert. Its a family business and Its there since 1906! Must not miss! I went there everytime I was there for the dinner.

“Cretan Character”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

This is THE restaurent for authentic Cretan food ... not only is the food excellent but the owner of this long-established family taverna ... Kosmas ... is a great host & runs the place with a unique mix of character & perfectionism. We, and many other couples that we meet there, have been going back to Galini & dining at Kosmas Taverna for a number of years now ... in fact it's like a Cretan 'united nations' when you spend an evening with Kosmas & Vana on Taverna Street watching the world go by.
