Having just returned from this hotel I'm not sure how it is has a 5 star rating. I have never had such a hard mattress and pillows to sleep on. The sheets on the bed were obviously for a single bed as it was 2 sheets to cover the mattress with 1 for the top which barely met the edge of the bed. The air-conditioner unit kept cutting out requiring a complete reset of the electrics to get it started. After complaining 6 times it was finally fixed, shame it was on day 12 of the holiday. We also lost all electrics in the room when an electric socket blew. Had to ask on numerous occasions for toilet rolls and shower wash to be replaced. Mealtimes are hectic in the buffet restaurant with children allowed to run around. Also had our table cleared on numerous occasions while we went to choose main/dessert. On other occasions the table wasn't cleared at all! If you're told by hotel staff that the Relax Pool area is adults only, or you've read it in other reviews, this is not true as children of all ages were using the pool which has a minimum depth of 1m and goes to 2.6m. Also for many of the rooms there are many steps - we had around 100 steps to reach the main building from our room. The steps were frequently dark at night with many of the lights not working making it a dangerous descent as some are rather steep. There is a bus which goes around the resort but you still need to go down steps to get to it, or up steps if returning so depending upon your location this does not necessarily help much!

There has been mixed reviews for this hotel so I am going to attempt to write the most accurate one.

This is a first class hotel. From the moment we arrived at 1AM we were stunned by the decor, the grand exterior, reception area and the duty staff. My wife and I had a fabulous fortnight. The food was excellent and abundant, the staff friendly and attentive, there was a choice of pools (animated and quiet) four bars including one at the beach, a spa with gym and oh those views!! Built onto a cliff-side you have mountains, the sea and extensive coast. It is off the beaten track yet 20 mins from the airport.

The animation is limited, though that doesn't matter to me these days, in my forties, it may have when I was younger, and if you don't like steps then it might not appeal. They go with the territory of the cliff-side. We were happy enough, seeing them as a way of burning off some of those excess calories, but beware if they're not for you. It took us less than one minute to walk 100 steps to breakfast every day and we are middle-aged. It also took us 7 mins to walk down to the beach and about 10 back up. However, there is a hotel minibus available at the drop of a phone call to reception.

If you like views, like Greece and like and genuine old fashioned All Inclusive this is a great place. But beware, it is very international. Probably not for those who like to be a Brit among Brits abroad.

Room Tip: We had 108: huge with a fantastic balcony and sea view. It was a hundred steps to the main building...

Hello, I´m Peter from Czech republic and I can highly recommend this hotel. Perfect services, location and personal provides me and my girlfriend one of the best vacations ;). There is only litle bit complicated access to the beach, but if you want, you can use buses from reception to the beach and back.

Weather great extremely hot went 13 june14 to 20 th June really nice location.room very good sea view and mountain side view. We tended to stay at the pool too hot to go walk about although we enjoy walking.pool nice and clean a few pools to choose from.we got abus into Heraklion about 20 minutes drive easy to find your way about.there was a site seeing bus open topin the town and you have an option to travel to Santorina for the day. although the hotel was good not suitable for elderly not good on there feet or young children in a pram there was families but struggled up from the bottom end to the restaurant up hill. There is a hotel mini bus available to take you down to the beach

Room Tip: Choose room 528 nearer hotel main reception

I think this hotel is very good. Me and my girlfriebd booked the holiday last minute and we got a great deal! When we got to our room it was a standard room but we are never in our rooms when we go away so this did not matter. The food was lovely, wide variety available, catering for everyone! The enterteiment was great and friendly especially mario, made us feel very welcome. Cleanliness was outstanding no complaints there! Staff made sure we were always ok! Basically you get what you pay for and we were both very saticfied! We will deffinately re visit in the future :)

This resort is architecturally stunning, sited on a promontory with the accommodation built into the sides of the headland, all of the rooms have large french windows opening onto private balconies with remarkable sea views. At sea level there is a private sheltered beach backed by a well stocked beach bar, offering drinks and snacks throughout the day, and whilst the road to the beach provdes a challenging walk, a shuttle bus circumnavigates the site every 20 minutes providing access for the less agile. In addition there are four swimming pools, ranging from the largest, which is supported by an additional pool bar and restaurant, and is located half way down the headland with a programme of daily supervised activities; to the more quiet relaxing pools tucked away behind the main administration buildings at the top of the site.
Breakfast and dinner are provided buffet style in the main air conditioned restaurant, which also has a large al-fresco dining area; and whilst selecting food can be hectic at the busiest times, the quality of food provided is good and the variety is spectacular.
The staff were extremely helpful and obliging, and whilst this may not be Mayfair Hilton standard it is most definately excellent value for expenditure.

Room Tip: If you like the sun in your bedroom early in the day ask for an Eastern facing room, if you like to...
