“Dont give up”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

This Hotel as been given some bad publicity, to be honest the hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly. I enjoyed the pool. The coffe was lovely. Now to the nitty gritty. The food was nearly always cold, they should invest in a few microwaves then people could heat it up. The meat was always cooked ,but when you have a stew you want it hot. The sweets were discusstingly sweet and sickly, melon was nice. There were alot of Russians, but in all culters there are good and bad, most were very nice the pushy ones spoilt it for the rest. The drinks were watered down and not much vareity, we hired a car as i can not walk very far, which made the experience very good. We went in mid Sept so no queues etc but staff is very spares, they need more help, and try to do there best, management need to address these problems, its not the staffs fault. If a bit more money was spent in food heating, bar staff need to have more than one staff on in peak times it become a decent hotel. to the staff keep doing what you are doing but ask management for more help. When we complain about the food the following days we got some lovely chicken breast and roast beef.

Room Tip: Just be aware this is a cheap hotel, you get what you pay for

we stayed at this hotel with a toddler, the staff made a fuss of him, made us all feel welcome and very friendly. room was good size, bit small for us and not much storage, shower was nightmare as curtain was too short and constantly flooded bathroom, but you get round these problems. nice view. food was nice, yes bit samey but if you try different things still nice and edible. There only seemed to be russians or english there, yes russians snubbed english and vice versa, yes some russians were rude but same time so were some english people and english just seemed to moan, if your going to moan about different food because it's not pie and chips, stay in england! if all you want to do is get drunk go to ibiza! most russians were friendly and said hello once they realised you were going to snub them like others etc overall most friendly.place was clean. I'm just sad they decided to close the hotel completely just before end of our hoilday as hotel we were moved to was a complete joke andnot a patch on this one!

Room Tip: rooms with sea view were nice and relaxing, view of the bay were nice especially with the sun set e...

Me and my fiance stayed for 7 days and the first impression was verry bad.. Booked an early chekin as our flight was late so we reach hotel about 8 in the morning. BUT BEEN ASKED TO WAIT UNTILL 12 WHEN SOMEBODY WILL CHECK OUT OF THE HOTEL as it is was full. So we had nice sleep in reception after long trip.
Food was eatable salads very fresh and tasty. Imposible to get drunk in the bar as drinks are served only untill 10pm tried ''few times'' :)
Staff is very friendly Modus and Romi specially, just one blond women is arrogant and discusting human being and she should never be at the bar ath the first place.
No power and water for two days beause of storm... probably :)
I would sugest everybody who is planing to go to this hotel to plan more time outside the hotel as there is really plentty things to see around crete. Me and my fiancee will be back to crete some day just probably try another place to stay in :)))

Room Tip: Best rooms are on top floors as from 2nd floor you see just a tiny bit of see

well where do i start the food was appalling ill eat anything but not there food it was cold very repetitive, not much of it and what there was of it the russians made sure they had it.booked a double room get 2 single beds, shower in room is useless if you are over 3ft tall, had t.v in room but had no sound on the english channels. The all inclusive bar what a JOKE 10.30am-10pm waterd down drinks,by the end of our hellish week there the coke was see-through and flat as a pancake.snacks at the bar hahaha that is another JOKE stail sandwiches if you are lucky that is all.if we had paid a couple of hundred pounds each for this holiday i would not be complaining as you get what you pay for us on the otherhand we where mugged with the price we payed and we are still having nightmare about it.Crete is a beautifull place as we have been before and nicolas villas has no place being there with what they provide as all inclusive and can seriously put people off visting crete if this is where you are staying for your first visit. We ate out most days and nights in the week we stayed here at a lovely place called Amazona Apartments who also offer self catering apartments at a cheap price which is where we will be staying next time we visit crete. So if your are going to crete on an all inclusive holiday for a week STAY AWAY FROM NICOLAS VILLAS u have been warned,oh yeah its also full of rude pushy and arogant Russians.

Room Tip: stay at another hotel

Firstly I would like to say that the negative comments are petty...

This was a cheap week get away and we did not expect much at all.. I would like to say the staff are lovely lovely people... the owner was AMAZING .. took time out to speak to us and was so genuine and lovely.

The hotel is basic.. but spotless and clean.. beds made everyday and rooms mopped and tidied too. The food was simple and authentic to the island.. so if you want chicken nuggets and french fries.. go to Florida... you simply cannot expect British food in a Crete hotel... in my opinion the hotel should charge more to stay there we payed 329 per person and thats food .. room ... food.. flight... not sure how they did this.

There is a snack shop and this sells beer and ice-cream.. crisps.. so if you're really fussy then there will be something in there for you. Please do not expect the Hilton .. expect a peaceful beautiful location.. free from noise and simplistic in style.

We had a lovely holiday and will definitely return.. the magic with this place is the people who own and work there...its a lovely place ... but if you're a pre-madonna and a carbon copy of hyacinth Bucket... then pay the extra 500 pounds ... go elsewhere...and stop you're moaning.

Cheap.. clean ... good service... and peaceful...and the people are simply wonderful... I never fancied Greece/Crete and price determined the quick getaway.. I was wrong... it's a really wonderful place. Enjoy yourself.. and remember your on holiday.
Hello everyone ... Silvio, Martyn, Maureen and Joe.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view... and ground floor is best.

Had a great 14 days here and felt the reviews were a bit harsh. What do you expect for less than £16 each a day all inclusive? Hotel clean but a little dangerous - no handrails on staircases. Not child friendly. The all inclusive bar poured small beers but you can keep ordering and its a great chance to practice and perfect your Greek.  The blonde lady was a great help. Plus I think we got larger measures for attempting to learn the language! Lunch is the best meal of the day - worth being around for! Definitely agree with the last review about the definition of all inclusive.

The staff tried hard to please everyone. Sometimes they were annoyed by the guests teasing but it was the end of the season. The bus to the beach was frequent and reliable although on its last legs and a definite UK MOT failure, but this is Greece; not UK health and safety. Visit Rethymon it's a lovely town, and the 2000 year old tree in Krasi that takes 16 men to hug it. Also the ICE Bar on the beach it's really great. Cheaper drinks and great staff.

Rooms were basic but the views the best yet of our holidays nearly 180 degrees of sea and surrounded by open farmland. Lovely sunsets and multiple beaches and cliffs in a short walking distance. Sea crystal clear and lots of fish and even an octopus to see when snorkelling!

Don't hire a car from the lady in reception not only do prices change (upwards) but the cars are very old and worn out, and don't lock or the radio won't work. Plus she'll hire your booked car to others if someone offers to pay her more. The prices are the same as new cars elsewhere.

We were here when the fighting incidents mentioned in previous reviews occurred. This was 1 night out of 14 and the hotel can't choose their guests. It had no effect on our holiday.

One tip: take ear plugs as the bar music plays until midnight and some guests make a bit too much noise if you want an early night.

Probably wouldn't book again, but don't regret it at all. Weather was so good, pool clean, bar area so relaxing during the day, and scenery so lovely it made for a great cheap break.

Room Tip: We were in 612 and this and 611 have the best views/most private balcony.

just back from a week in nicolas villas.id advise people to look elsewhere, has to be way better all inclusives than this.was very cheap,so wasnt expecting to much. straight away got ripped off.payed 25pound extra when booking by phone for a double room with sea veiw.they all got sea view and they just pushed the two singles together.

rooms are clean, bathrooms ok, but shower is poor, you drown the place cause no rail and stupid shower curtain. rooms cleaned most days so nothing to say bout that.

pool is good size and clean, and very well finished off, nice tilling and not slippy.seeing them clean the pool the 1st two days was reasuring...until I saw how much clorine they throw in the pool. the man walks round throwing in far to much,no gloves or protection.

food is just bearable!!not fussy eater,so didnt mind.but its very repetitive.good bit of selection, meat usually potatoes, salad bit off desert. water melon every night. bread is lovely and loads of it.

bar opens at half 10.30 to 10pm.but is a waste of time. you would get more drunk on a packet of wine gums!!!!!alcohol is completely watered down.

staff are mostly polite.women with blonde hair is and absoulute bit@h!!!the power went twice two days in a row, which meant no water or power.the staff were not very helpful.just shrugged there sholders when asked when it would be back on.

full of russians!!!!that stack up all the water melons on there tables!!!skip at the food queue and when waiting for the bus!!!
by the comments ive read on this, this place is obviously going downhill.had its good points, meant nice people there, agia palega is a lovely place.was kept clean, good fun in the pool and plenty of sunbeds.bad points was ignorant russians, poor achohol, poor bar, same music every night, blonde bar women, really hateful person. the bus is also very dodgy!!!! im rating it terrible just because of the touble with the water and power, and having such a poor bar.
