“idyllic setting, clean and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Just returned from this beautiful campsite and will definitley be going back next year. For us (Mum, Dad, 2 tweens: 11 and 13) it was perfect. We booked a 3-bed Sunlight cabin with Eurocamp on one of the larger plots near the river - cabin was clean and had everything we needed including 2 bathrooms and lovely terrace (although the beds could have been more comfortable - that's our only gripe and that's with Eurocamp not the campsite!) The site itself was gorgeous, small friendly family run feel to it - quiet spacious shady plots, clean pools and super friendly staff who didn't mind me practicing my rubbish french on them! Well stocked site shop. We're not into discos and entertainment - this happens on a small scale here so nice and easy to avoid if you're like us and prefer a lazy evening on your terrace or a bit of table tennis! The pinnacle for us was the free shuttle boat to and from St Aygulf beach. A lovely way to start and end the day. St Aygulf has clean sand and clear sea and good amenities - and has a section for dogs so may be taking mine next year! Cannot recommend this campsite and area highly enough, this holiday is going to turn into a family tradition.

~We've just returned from seven nights camping with our own tent at this site. We had a great time - there are lots of clean toilets, the pool is great and the site is picturesque with trees and flowers. We loved it. If you are thinking of going check it out on google maps first as it's hard to find down a dirt track. Also take care choosing your pitch - we didn't and ours was just about ok. We had pitch 51 bit too near the loo block than we would ideally like, but manageable. Some of the pitches 49 and 50 from memory - are literally alongside the loo block which has slightly smelly drains. The restaurant wasn't brilliant but was ok if you couldn't be bothered to venture out for a meal or cook your own and the pool is excellent. Nice and warm and still easy to find a recliner even during August. The pool entertainment was a bit annoying - worst thing about the site for me. Loud music on speakers by the pool for several hours during the day - too loud to relax and read to be honest. Interspersed with a crazy entertainer shouting rubbish and doing a weird act dressed as pamela anderson and doing mock pole dancing with an umbrella around the pool - weird and not really appropriate for kids. Everybody politely ignored him. Can see why his entertainment career hasn't progressed past a campsite in summer! We were a bit too hot in a tent and may opt for an air con mobile home next year - they looked nice. Quite an expensive site.

Room Tip: Avoid pitches near the loo blocks and the ones right near the swimming pool and admin block because...

This is the second time we have stayed in this region and with Eurocamp. L'Etoile D'Argens is an excellent site with each area nicely screened by trees which enables the decked area outside the mobile home to have a little shade. This was much needed as it was extremely hot during late July early Aug. The mobile home was really spacious and clean and the pools were lovely. As usual there were always the crowd who reserved sun beds with their towels but fortunately the pool area has plenty of sun beds and there were always more than enough available. The restaurant, bar and shop on the site were great and all the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. The little boat on the river running down to the beach looks fantastic. We didn't use it this time but it seemed very popular. This area is fantastic for exploring the beautiful coastal towns and villages. This time around we only went to Port Frejus and the old town, St Tropez and Monaco. All well worth a visit. We flew to Nice and hired a car for the week. It's an easy 45 min drive from the airport to the campsite and an easy drive down to St Tropez from there, although its worth leaving early to avoid the traffic that builds throughout the day. We travelled this time around as a family, with 2 teenage children and a Grandad! Everyone enjoyed it equally. Would definitely recommend to others.

Room Tip: We chose a three bed mobile home for 4 of us, my daughter and I sharing a twin room, my son in the o...

We were recommended this site by a friend and we were not disappointed. We booked with Eurocamp and our mobile home was to a high standard and looked new. All the pitches are surrounded with beautiful woodland, and very private with each row holing about 10 mobile homes/tents. The site is along side the river. Only fault about our pitch was because we had a wooden veranda/decking outside we couldn't park our car outside so had to park outside our row. The site felt very safe and was very clean. There was a shop where you could get freshly baked bread and pastries. A restaurant and take away selling pizzas etc. There is free crazy golf which was great for us to play in the evening after dinner, tennis courts were 6E which you had to book.

There are 3 swimming pools which get very busy but there were plenty of sun beds but very little shade. The site provides a free boat to take you to the beach which was brilliant but you need to get. there at least 15 minutes before the boat is supposed to leave as only has 45 seats and is very popular. They have lunch off so last boat back is 12.40 aim to be there at 12.20 this one very busy. They run until late afternoon. It is a beautiful beach and you can avoid the naturist part by walking on the path behind the beach.

Supermarket about 10 minute drive away. Excellent location to visit St Raphael, Nice, St Tropez and Monaco. Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday in peaceful beautiful surroundings and would certainly recommend this site for all ages.

We've just returned from 12 nights on this lovely site, and really can't fault it.

We booked one of the largest pitches, which was at the end of one of the 'avenues' - each of which contained 8/10 pitches. Although we used the pitch just for our caravan, there were other pitches of the same size which were being used by 2 caravans or a couple of tents, there was loads of room, and these pitches would be ideal for a family or group to share.

The shower and toilet facilities were excellent, extremely clean and modern.

The boat to the beach was really handy, or a 5 minute drive down a back road would take you to the same beach - with free parking along the road, or payable right on the sea front - 4 Euros for the day if I remember correctly !

The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a good mix of French/ Dutch & English holidaymakers.

We went to the bar on a couple of evenings, the entertainment was varied, a fabulous cabaret one night, a female singer, party/disco night on the other occasions. We used the restaurant on our last night - it was quite expensive, but only as you would expect on a site such as this. The pizza's and snacks during the day looked good value for money.

The area is beautiful too, and we will definitely return to this site in the future.

We spent ten days on this site, and at first were horrified at how large it is, but as it is divided into rows with only eight units in a row, and all the pitches separated by hedges, it wasn't a problem. However we were glad of our bikes to get to the office, shop, restaurant and pools. We weren't too keen that the caravans and mobile holiday homes were all mixed together, we did feel very overlooked as our pitch had a mobile next to us and two opposite as well. At times these mobiles were let to large family groups and could be noisy. We were able to plumb the van into the water and the drainage which makes life easier, and with a toilet block at the end of each row the facilities were excellent. There was also a laundrette area, but once again it was too far to walk to carrying the laundry, I needed my bike.

The staff were always helpful, and spoke English whenever my French let me down. The shop was well stocked and sold beach goods and newspapers as well as groceries.

Internet was available on the pitch but was was really expensive and not entirely reliable.

Later in the season a boat is available to ferry campers to the beach, but this wasn't operating whilst we were there.

Frejus and St Aygulf are very nice local towns.

The Verdon Gorge is about 50 miles away, well worth a visit, St. Tropez, Nice and Cannes are easy drives, if rather busy places.

This is going to be quite a long review but there's a lot of good things to say about here !

This was our first time camping and it took us a long time to pick a site, we chose this one because of Tripadvisor reviews and weren't disappointed.

The site is in a great location about 10 mins from Frejus. It won't be an issue for most but you need a car to camp here, we considered not hiring one but did in the end and glad we did, it's about a half hour walk to the nearest bus stop, but that's not the fault of the camp and I'd say that most people will have a car anyway. For info we got the best price from Argus.

The parc is very secure, there's someone on the gate all day and the gate closes at 11.30. You get issued with a code for the internal barrier. We felt really secure here. Staff were very welcoming as were the Eurocamp reps.

We had been worried that we hadn't booked a home with Aircon but it wasn't an issue, all of the homes are shaded by trees and as we were outside all day, the bedrooms were cool enough to sleep in at night comfortably. Homes are well spaced with separating hedges for privacy. Home was well equipped with cooker, microwave, cutlery/crockery and an ipod dock which was really handy.

Facilities here are great, there are a number of pools which have lifeguards on all day and they close at 7pm. They're strict about cleanliness ie there is no food allowed at the pool and we saw the water being sampled frequently. Some of the pools are heated and there were always chairs available. Other activities are Tennis Courts, Table Tennis, Boules, Mini Golf, Playground, plenty to do and all free ! There was also a kids club, at the time we were there all the others at it were younger than ours (6 and 9) so they didn't fancy it but the Animateur was great and would have found something fun for them if they'd wanted to go.

There's a good shop which supplies the basics, fresh bread and croissants baked every day. There were also a couple of 'market traders' who had different stalls each day selling t-shirts, gifts etc which was good. The parc is about 10 mins drive from Geant, a large shopping centre with a Casino supermarket which was amazing for fresh veg, meat etc and bulk water (and wine!)

On site restaurant was really good , not too pricey and had a wood pizza oven, available to eat in or take away and delicious. All the restaurant staff were lovely and there was good entertainment on every night.

There is a boat which takes you to St Aygulf beach , boat trip was lovely and we saw turtles and loads of fish jumping in the river. The beach was lovely, really clean, personally we preferred Frejus beach as it was also close to the port/restaurants/ice cream shops. Cannes beach was also good.

I could go on and on about this parc but you'll get the idea, we loved it and would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone.
