“Delightful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stayed here during the last weekend of October following a positive recommendation from a friend.
The whole ambiance of the place is quirky and interesting. We stayed in the 'Blue Room' which which offered fabulous sea views, whilst being really cosy and inviting.
Our Hosts, Mary and Franck, were extremely welcoming and showed a real enthusiasm to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
What a way to spend a long weekend away, with Wimereux being so close to the Channel Tunnel...................delightful.

Room Tip: The rooms with the sea view are a must to get maximum appreciation of this location.

Our stay started badly! We delayed our arrival until a, reasonable?, 3pm only to discover that we would not have access 'til 5pm (Blame = Booking.com small print being too small!). It was a warm September Sunday afternoon resulting in impossible, legal, parking (Blame = God and other Town planners). Our small 'Patio View' room (one of 3 I believe) had a plan view from 2 floors up of a table and a few chairs. Whilst these rooms (they're simply back rooms) are nearly half the price of the 2 seaview rooms they should not be so misleadingly named. The false expectation annoyed intensely then and still does when I think of it. (Blame = Owners)
The somewhat eccentric decor (Plenty of wallhangings, stuffed toys, and French comedic books) may not be everyone's taste but the breakfast will be! Served in a room with a delightful view of the sea and beach (what a pity it's locked during the daytime) the (continental) breakfast is probably the best presented I've ever seen (baskets of bread, local preserves, yogurt in glass pots, nuts, fresh fruit, etc).

Had a really wonderful stay here with my boyfriend back in May when our booking at the nearby Chateaus De La Marine fell through last minute. They put us in touch with La Goelette, and we're pleased they did! We stayed in the 'Yellow Room' at the top of the house which had beautiful views over Wimereux beach. Our host was delightfully friendly and welcoming, the room was quiet and tastefully furnished with quirky features. We were recommended a local restaurant which was delicious, and our breakfast the next day included fresh bread and croissants, cooked egg, cold meats and cheese. A really lovely stay overall.

Excellent hosts who made interesting conversation and instantly make guests feel at home. High quality and spacious rooms - would recommend those overlooking the sea. Incredible variety and volume of fresh bread and croissants for breakfast and interesting evening meals which are well worth trying. Location is perfect and was a pleasant change despite being such a short journey from the UK. Constant supply of free bottled water and sweets a nice touch

Room Tip: Blue and yellow rooms overlooking the sea

We LOVED it. From the minute I walk through the door my breath was taken away at the beauty and Frenchness of the hotel. Our room (the Bleu room) overlooked the promenade and was decorated in a french style with an eclectic twist. Thoughtfulness showed in every aspect of the room. Nespresso machine, kettle, a small bottle of delightful red wine, chocolates on the pillows of course, chairs and chaise lounge to relax in and look out over the sea, shutters to close out the sunlight if you want to sleep in, a bijou bathroom but modern and very clean. I loved it and am thrilled to have discovered such a treasure. Breakfast was amazing and I really could have stayed and eaten and eaten and eaten. Our hosts featured some local cheeses which were divine and it was nice to see that they supported local businesses. Even though they had their own little restaurant our host immediately asked if he could help us with dinner recommendations and even made a reservation for us at a lovely little restaurant just down the way. Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly and you immediately feel like you are a treasured guest. I just can't say enough good things about this place and am already looking forward to our next sojourn over there. Thank you La Goelette for a brief but memorable evening.

La Goelette is a delightful B & B in the best location in Wimereux, on the seafront. We have only stayed in the rooms overlooking the promenade and these are spacious and beautifully decorated. The house is full of character, the breakfasts are superb and the hosts are extremely welcoming and friendly and only too happy to help. I can only reiterate the positive comments that have already been made. It is so refreshing to find somewhere that is original and not a carbon copy of the usual run of the mill 'boutique' B & B', and a couple who enjoy their work. I can also highly recommend the restaurant.

Room Tip: The blue and yellow rooms are both excellent and both have sea views. I haven't stayed in the o...

We've been going to Wimereux, a seaside town that feels as though it's pleasantly stuck in the 60s, for the best part of 15 years now. Having stayed in many B&Bs over the years, La Goelette has become a benchmark.

Our preferred rooms are the blue and yellow rooms, both of which afford superb views over the promenade and sea.

The rooms have recently been tastefully and elegantly refurbished and provide a haven of peace and tranquillity from the hustle and bustle of activity on the seafront. The rooms are very comfortable and it's relaxing to sit with a glass of wine and watch the world go by, or to watch one of the many DVDs provided or to read a book.

The hosts, Mary and Franck, provide a fantastic breakfast to set you up for the day, including a wide range of fruits, cereals, charcuterie, cheese and seasonal products. There is also the possibility of dinner and Franck is a great cook!

Mary and Franck are happy to provide guest with information on where to visit, what to see and are more than happy to make restaurant reservations. In short, they will do their best to make sure that all guests have a most enjoyable stay.

The welcome at La Goelette is second to none and it is very popular, so sometimes you have to book well in advance. However, it really is an opportunity not to be missed! We're recently home from our latest visit and already planning our next one.

Room Tip: Blue or yellow rooms for the view.
