“Very Expensive for the Great Sea View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

Stayed for the weekend of 12/14 October for a private dinner function on Saturday. Rooms have the most fantastic views of the sea but a heavy price is paid for that. Staff not attentive which included the receptionist who carried on a telephone call for at least 4 minutes whilst we stood in front of her to check in, a young bar person who huffed and reluctantly gave us a second bowl of nibbles when we asked for them with our second - very expensive - drink. Could be why the bar was empty at 8pm.

The cleaner did not replenish the coffee and milk or the bathroom toiletries. Although the room (305) was large the lighting was bad, no dressing table, and nowhere to apply makeup properly. Reading was impossible after dark.

During our private dinner function, water and red wine was dripped over me by waiting staff who were oblivious to the fact, another guest had her used fish knife taken from her plate and heavily slapped back onto the table for the next course. When asked for still water the entire table was given sparkling, later in the evening when more water was requested we were ignored and had to ask a second time. The service was appalling with two guests on our table not receiving their main course for many minutes whilst the rest of us who had been served had meals that were getting cold.

The staff were miserable throughout our stay, not one of them smiled in three days.

On Friday evening we ate at La Sparenza, a few doors down, and although we hadn't booked the staff were welcoming, the food was good and the ambience fantastic. Wish we had stayed at this hotel. We certainly would not pay the high price for this hotel again with it's lack of service and miserable, bady trained staff.

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea but from what I gather from other reviews some rooms have a bath and others a...

Excellent hotel - right in the centre of the promenade with great views.
Room clean & comfy - excellent beds.

As stated by another reviewer the bar is a ghost town after early evening. It seems to have priced itself out of the market with drinks being so expensive. There is plenty competition literally minutes away on the promenade serving drinks & food at a fraction of the cost.

Would certainly advise the hotel as a place to stay - but there are far better & cheaper alternatives for food.

Room Tip: Top floor Room 302 - unobstructed views with balcony.

Have wanted to visit this hotel for years and now having finally made it am not disappointed. It has a smart art deco frontage behind which are spacious and comfortable rooms. The bathroom was a large wetroom with an excellent shower good toiletries and towels but no bath.
On a fine evening the view of the sunset over the sea was beautiful and away to the northwest you can just make out the white cliffs of England. Two minor niggles: if you arrive early they are steadfast about not giving access to the room before 3pm even though I suspect ours was not occupied the night before and it is quite difficult to find access to through narrow backstreets the Digue de Mer (promenade) at the front being pedestrianised. This was made worse on our visit by roadworks. Unusually for a French town there are no signposts to the hotel. The breakfast was fine and the dinner in the Liegeoise restaurant excellent. Not a cheap weekend but excllent value

This is probably the best hotel in Wimereux – it's likely also the most expensive. Our room overlooked the sea and was of good enough size. The hotel has two restaurants but we chose the cheaper one. Food was excellent. I imagine the gourmet one was even better. Wimereux's a sweet seaside town, rather like an upmarket Hove. The vast stretch of beach in front of the hotel is a haven for kite surfers, sailors, three-wheeled kite buggy riders and powerkiters. There's even a walled off lagoon section front of the hotel – ideal for kids and hobycat beginners. A large promenade sweeps along the front, dotted by restaurants serving lunches and drinks. Nice place but we only went there because of a wedding. If you're going to France for a seaside holiday I'm sure there are more attractive places further down the coast. But you won't find many with better sunsets!

We love the Atlantic and go there three or four times a year - but in hot weather the lack of air con both in the rooms and the main restaurant makes it uncomfortable. The price has gone up rather horribly too - we used to pay 180 euro for room with balcony and now it is 210 which is a big jump. That said, we still love it, but spring, autumn and winter only !

Room Tip: Go for a top floor with balcony

Stylish rooms lovely decor. This place is far from cheap but it is the view you are paying for. They used to have a lot of cheaper sea view rooms till they refurbished & created fewer rooms all with sea views. A little moan even if you let them know you still cannot get into your room before 3pm You are told this in the booking letter but it seems there is no flexibility also i think there had recently been a dog in our room although it was clean & a comfy bed. Also a seperate toilet which is always nice. It would be difficult to better the seaview as you don,t even have a road in between. It can be tricky to find as we have stayed before & still find it tricky!!!

This Hotel is indeed on the beach with direct access to the equivalent of the boardwalk.
Access by car is not simple as the Digue de mer which is the adress is not for cars and the GPS is stumped.
Once discovered there is a convenient private parking at the back.
Our allotted room from booking with Bookings was for handicapped,we ended up upgrading to a room on top floor with balcony, highly recommended.
Note that the Hotel's restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday
