“Cheap - only good for an over nighter”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2014

Stayed here for 3 nights in May-14 while on Rugby tour to Lille.

Good points are that while the rooms are basic and small, they are fairly clean and comfortable.

Staff are friendly.

Location is poor unless you have transport - taxi to Lille is approx 25 Euros. Not much in Ronchin (didn't see any bars/cafes.) Takes 30-40 mins on public transport (bus from right outside hotel then Metro to the city.)

There didn't appear to be any staff here overnight so if you have problems getting in on a night (roommate has taken the one key they give you etc.) then you will not get access to your room until the morning.

Used for rugby tours etc. so may not be the quietest hotel late at night.

Would only stay here again if I needed somewhere cheap to sleep while travelling through - not a great base to visit Lille.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from any Rugby Tours/Stag do's etc.

We booked our hotel for one night as we were travelling from Spain to The Netherlands.
The property is located at the suburbs of Lille, so not sure if this is the best location if you intend to visit the city. In our case, it was perfect as it was right on our route.
For our needs it was a good choice. Very clean and in good state. Room was very small and the shower tiny.
There is free wifi but you need to ask for the code at reception and only one device can be used with each code at a time.

The room was so small that we could hardly fit our two bags in. The beds were so narrow that I almost fell out twice during the night. We booked for two nights because we were doing the battlefields and there was nowhere else available so near to Remembrance Day, but we only stayed one night.
When we arrived the receptionist could not speak a word of English and could not find our booking, we had to find it ourselves. When we went through the 'dining room' it was still littered with the mornings breakfast dishes and breakfast even though when we walked through it was 18.30. Milk, cheeses and hams had been left out in the heated room for the entire day - it made my stomach turn.
Just fowl! Avoid at all costs.
The only good thing was that the WiFi worked

The hotel is a 10 minute tube 10 minute and bus ride form Lille central. The highlight is the Aldi shop 2 minutes down the road. Rooms are very small and very basic. Shower is a struggle for anyone over 12 stone.

The hotel is used as a cheap put up for kids rugby tours, so during April/May expect some noise.

Hotel is clean but would never recommend to any friends or family.

Room Tip: The hotel mentions pol and fitness, these are 5-10minutes walk

Arrived at this hotel just before 14.00hrs. We came to visit the famous Braderie in Lille..
No one was at reception!! Was given the key to our room...When we got to the room it had not been cleaned .. I informed the receptionist who shrugged her shoulders and did not appear bothered that A it was not clean and B she had gave us the key to an unclean room .We left our bags in our car and headed off to Lille Centre. We managed to pick up a leaflet on the desk explaining about the bus and metro route into the city.We had a great day browsing the Braderie and of course sampling the Moules and Frites....
Returning to our hotel just after 11.30hrs.We had to wait 15minutes to get in the locked gate..Waiting for a car to come out allowed us to slip in....
No one was at reception...The people in the bar said that the man was here somewhere..I had to go and look for him..He was cleaning another room...Ours it transpires was still uncleaned..We waited until almost 1 oclock in the morning for hime to finish our room...Exhausted we flopped into bed....
The breakfast the next morning was fine.. Better than expected..
We cleared our room and went to reception where i rang the bell 3 times..The receptionist was in the bar area chatting to colleagues and laughing...
I explained about our room where upon she said Yes she knew..I told her it was unsatisfactory. She appeared unconcerned and only after me again insisiting that we did not expect to wait around for our room to be cleaned she gave me 16 euros refund for the breakfast!!!! This is not acceptable and the fact that there was no one more senior to her is a disgrace.....
The hotel needs more staff at busy periods i.e The Braderie and a little bit more compassion shown when they have messed up..
The hotel was adequate for the rating.Clean and tidy just a shame certain members of staff are not more helpful......
