“B&B Style Hotel Prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

What a great discovery. A rare jewel in our travels. We decided to book last minute near Slalzburg. We got worried because so much was already sold out. We breathed a sigh of relief when we found the Himmelreich. When we got there we found the Hotel to be very clean and beyond our expectations for a last minute booking. The room had a sitting room a clean bathroom and wonderful Balcony. The swimming pool looks like a pond and is quite refreshing. The best surprise was at breakfast. My wife and I came down to the breakfast buffet and were pleasantly surprised to find a table with our names on it welcoming us. The owners and staff were dressed in leder hosen and dirndels. What a wonderful stay. Please stay here if you would like a wonderful, comfortable, easy to get to stay.

Room Tip: Great friendly clean place.

We were actually looking at a different property and needed two nights, they only had one. Extremely glad it worked out this way as the Himmelreich was excellent. First off Elizabeth checked us in and gave us a lot of information not only on the hotel itself but also Salzburg. She went as far as to let my wife use the office fan during our stay. The hotel is close to a bus stop that takes you into town (#2). You have the choice of pay as you go, 3.20 Euro for a day pass or the Salzburg sites card which is approximately 25 Euros for a one day - gives you free admissions to most of the sites along with discounts to others - thanks again to Elizabeth for this tip. The hotel has an under ground parking garage (free) and a lift to the floors from the garage. They also have bikes for use (free) and electric bikes (cost). The hotel has a lovely back yard area with a natural pool for swimming. The breakfast area opens onto the grounds and you have your choice of sitting outside, in the sun room (glass enclosed) or inside. The breakfast was very good with fruit, eggs, bacon, cheese, breads, juices and coffee plus much more with a nice lady to guide your selections if needed. The room was spacious enough with french doors that opened onto a balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the back yard and the Austrian Alps. Very nice to watch the amazing thunder and lightening storm during the evening. The internet was free but you need to be cabled in so I was prepared! Each floor of the hotel has a nice sitting area in the hallway with books and magazines to browse. The bottom floor contains a spa which has a sauna, steam bath and hot tile lounge seat - not sure how it worked. The Himmelreich was the best stay on our Bavarian trip and I would not hesitate to recommend it or stay again.

Room Tip: Third floor looking out over the garden yard. Close to the airport but very little noise from it...

A pretty family run hotel with a lovely natural swimming pool, relaxing garden and warm welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and management of this comfortable Austrian hotel. Close to the airport if you are flying, we drove to Salzburg and took the bus into the centre - which is easy and efficient.
Our bedroom was gorgeous, big balcony and ceiling mirrors (good for a romantic break, some rooms have water beds and jacuzzis, but families would be equally happy here).
The breakfast was fabulous, and there is a super traditional Austrian restaurant next door. Good wine to purchase for your room or the garden. We also splashed out on dinner at the acclaimed and wonderful Hangar7 restaurant, which houses art exhibitions as well as planes and cars in a fabulour modern hangar.
We loved this place, so refreshing after bland modern chain hotels, would definitely stay there again.
