“Great Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW via mobile

Rancho Pacifico is one of the most uniquely beautiful places on this planet. It has the greatest views you will ever see. It is positioned on a mountain in the rain forest with miles of beach view. The food was incredible. We have never had better hotel food. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Its a short drive to what might be the nicest beach in the world - the Whale's Tail.

One word of caution: do not drive yourself up there. Have them pick you up at the bottom of the hill. Driving up is an adventure, but well worth it!

Also, you must do the waterfall hike.

Myself and 25 guests recently spent 4 fantastic nights at Rancho Pacifico for my wedding & I have to say that the 2 most spectacular things about this little piece of paradise were the fabulous view of the whale's tale & the resort staff. With 25 guests all arriving at once, the staff at Rancho was quick to get everyone checked in, deliver their bags to the proper rooms & welcome them with cool towels, fresh drinks & open arms. Each one of our guests noted the way that they were treated like family above all else & how they couldn't believe that everyone working there managed to know every guests name within only 1 evening of being there.

Rooms: My husband and I stayed in one of the Tree-house villas and wouldn't have traded that room for anything. All of the rooms at the resort are great, but the Tree-House offered an amazing view with the perfect amount of privacy and was far enough away from the lobby that we couldn't hear any noise from the bar/ pool area when we just wanted to relax. The in room amenities were great too as we were all supplied with water bottles, umbrellas & great Eco-friendly bathroom products (which is always a nice touch.)

Food: The food was incredible! Every meal had its own little twist and while the portions look a little small at first, you quickly realize that after 4 amazing courses you have eaten the perfect amount. Breakfast offered a great variety but most of our guests ordered the French Toast over and over again (so that would be what I would recommend first.) The service of the food was a little slow at times leaving guests to get a little tired (dinner is served later in the evening) however we were informed that Rancho had never entertained such a large group all together or had to serve 25 meals all at once so on any other day I'm sure it would be fine.

Amenities: Many of our guests took advantage of the spa services and no one seemed to come out disappointed. The spa atmosphere is fantastic and has a great view from the waiting area where we were provided tea and biscuits & for the first time ever I actually got so relaxed that I fell asleep during one of my massages haha.

Staff & Service: The reason that I ended up reviewing with a 4 instead of a 5 was more-so due to the difficulty of communication before our arrival along with a few (small) things that were forgotten on the wedding night. The staff as a whole were incredibly and so warm and welcoming but we were faced with some difficulties during the planning process & those difficulties seemed to escalate a little into our stay & interrupt what could have been a flawless 4 nights for our guests. I don't want to dwell too much on this part of the review as the difficulties were due to the wedding aspect of our stay and I imagine that had we come simply as guests there would have been no issues at all. SO, with that said, I would 100% recommend guests to stay at Rancho (and I absolutely intend on returning one day), I LOVED getting married there and wouldn't trade it for the world, however if I could go back in time I would either choose to hold an event elsewhere and use Rancho as a getaway afterwards OR simply choose Rancho and their services for a smaller event that might be a little easier to manage.

Room Tip: Tree-House Villas & the One-Bedroom have some of the best views, The 3 Bedroom Villa is more sec...

Althought his place is quite diffcult to access andf find, once you do its a beautiful paradise lost in the mountains.
Very isolated with amazing views to the coast and over the whales tail beach, it really is an amazing pied a terre to get close to nature.
teh staff are amazing here, everyone is so friendly and all are willing to help in anyway, the food was really great too!

Room Tip: All rooms have great views over the jungle, or the sea, but wither are amazing views.

The Rancho Pacifico is a beautiful small luxury hotel. We stayed for 7 nights in the “Villa Romantica” which was amazing but the main highlight of this hotel is the STAFF. Every person we came in contact with went out of their way to make our stay fantastic. For example…one night I was unable to make it through dinner and one of our waiters brought the dinner into our villa without even being asked to do so and my husband asked the bartender for a Mojito (but didn’t want it too sweet) and he made it perfect for him every time he ordered it during our stay without being told not to make it too sweet. Our driver to and from the hotel went out of his way to make sure we were always very comfortable and never once made us fill rushed while shopping or enjoying our activities. I would describe the service as extremely professional, classic, and very warm. This hotel is staffed by the best in the business and I can’t wait to return someday.

Rancho Pacifico is truly an amazing place- one of a kind. The staff are fabulous hosts, very attentive to detail, sincere, and accommodating. After our first night we were upgraded to a larger villa, which was a nice surprise. The overall value was fantastic. We stayed 6 nights and took advantage of the specials, so be sure and check them out. We rented a 4x4 (be forewarned that you will be hit with government mandated insurance, and the minimum for this is $16/day) and made the drive from SJO. We had no problems getting up and down the hill, and surprisingly did not hear loud howler monkeys in the mornings! We had 2 incredible massages, some of the best we have ever had. Highly recommend the mangrove tour (we saw TONS of animals). The staff is very knowledgable with the local area and will arrange excursions with professional companies, print maps, and make sure you have no trouble getting around. If you like to socialize, it is very easy to make friends with other guests due to the intimate setting. If you prefer privacy, there is enough room to hang out solo as well. I can't say a single negative thing. I was unsure of staying off the beach, but I am so glad that we stayed at this luxury place in the jungle. Listening to all the different noises in the jungle, taking an open air shower, and looking out over the jungle/mountain was a wonderful experience. We will be back someday, I am sure of that.

Room Tip: We stayed in the deluxe terrace suite the first night and it was great because it was so close to ev...

RP was the most special place to celebrate our honeymoon! Throughout our week we were treated with such great care and attention. The warmth from the staff there was felt in every interaction. What genuine, lovely people we now call amigos! The food was delicious and fresh. They accommodated all of my specific dietary needs without hesitation. The Tree Haus we stayed in and the grounds were impeccable! Being nestled into the rainforest at Rancho Pacifico was heavenly and peaceful. Thank you for such a lovely visit and helping us plan our daily adventures so we could explore more Costa Rica. We will be back!

You never know if a return visit to a vacation destination will be as amazing as your first trip, but in our case is was even better! I feel blessed beyond words to have spent another week in Garrison's and Sylvia's little piece of paradise. Every detail has been considered at RP -- the rooms are beautiful and nicely appointed; the Treehouse Villa is spectacular, as is the 1 bedroom villa. It's definitely a trek up the mountain, but the view, no matter which room you choose, is breathtaking. Adriana greets you upon arrival and immediately makes you feel like family as she shows you around the property. She's always looking for ways to make your visit magical and is truly committed to ensuring your happiness. Alex and his team of chefs prepare a wide array of outstanding meals, and are happy to accommodate requests. Vianney, Oval, Geovanny, Ana, and Johan are so much fun and truly go above and beyond for each guest. They pampered us all week long.
When you visit, be sure to hike down the the waterfall -- and up to the ridge line if you're feeling adventurous. Both are extraordinary! We also really enjoyed horseback riding in Uvita. And don't miss a treatment with Gloria at Spa Tranquila -- she is simply amazing!!
I could go on forever about all the reasons we love RP, but suffice it to say that we are already planning our next visit!
