“Fantastic time with Diego”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

A group of us traveled to Costa Rica for a college reunion and were looking for one fun activity during our stay. We had a three-hour surf lesson with Uvita Surf Camp - Diego was our guide - and we had a fantastic time. Diego was great company, but serious about his job teaching us first time surfers and he spread himself evenly across a range of abilities. The setting on Playa Uvita was gorgeous. I would highly recommend Uvita Surf Camp.

“Super Stand Up Paddle Board Clinic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

I live in California and have always wanted to try Stand Up Paddle Boarding or SUP as they refer to it at the Uvita Surf Camp. My everyday commute takes me along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) from Venice Beach to Pacific Palisades where my kids go to school, so I've been able to admire the people who practice this sport almost on a daily basis but have never found the time to try it out. Back to Uvita, having just finished building a house here, with 2 months to spend in the area and 2 kids, ages 9 & 15, we decided we wanted to try it out and I had heard good things about Uvita Surf Camp. I looked them up online, they have a very informative website and the kids and I popped by to make reservations. We were met by Diego, one of the partners, always with a friendly, smile... he speaks english and spanish, who helped set up the lesson. Their lesson times are based on the tides, so we returned on a Saturday to try it out. The school is located walking distance form one of the entrances to Marina Ballena National Park. We walked down while the boards were taken by car into the park, where we met up with Tito, the owner. For 15-20 minutes we were given the basics on the beach, the instructors are ceritifed to teach and take great pride in making sure everyone knows what to expect. After the basics, we carried our boards to a small river with Mangroves located close by where the water is calmer, to practice before going out on the ocean. This part was fun and very scenographic. We all did well, there were 6 of us in the clinic with 2 instructors. Next, we headed back, carried everything out to the beach and were helped one by one to pass through the small waves in one of the calmer areas that face what is known as , the Whale's Tail, a coral and sand reef in the shape of a Whale's tail, that is exposed at low tide. For the next 1 1/2 hours or so, we paddled around the gentle waters of the pacific, taking a short water break on the beach, then heading back to the spot where we began. We all had a great time, all in all it is pretty easy to do, provides a super work out, and we enjoyed ourselves so much we intend to do it every weekend. This activity is a bargain at $20, running 2-3 hours total. They offer many different destinations in which to practice as well. We will be back and send all our friends and visitors! Thanks Diego and Tito for a great weekend! To be continued in the surf lesson review......

“Diego rocks!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

We had a great first time surfing lesson. Our teacher was so nice and patient. The beach they took us to was gorgeous. He also helped us to coordinate the cab and dinner place after our lesson. It was private lesson and if we went to the big place we would have had to be in a group during the time that worked for us. I would highly recommend these guys. So great!

“Great Surfing Experience with Uvita Surf Camp!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

I traveled to Costa Rica with my girlfriends to learn how to surf. After a mishap with a company in Dominical, we contacted Uvita Surf Camp. They responded quickly to our request, and we set up a 4hr surf lesson. Uvita surf camp is not far from Dominical and well worth the drive. We met at the shop and Tito and Dana were there to greet us. Since there were four of us, they both came along so we would have more instructor time per person. The beach was excellent, warm, and had the perfect waves for beginners. Tito and Dana were very patient, assisting with technique throughout the day to ensure we had a good experience. We all were catching waves instantly and standing shortly thereafter. We enjoyed ourselves so much we booked an additional 2hr lesson and then boards for surfing on our own. We even hired Tito as a guide, as part of an additional package. This was an excellent choice. We experienced wonderful secluded ocean views, swimming in fresh-water pools with waterfalls, and eating a spectacular lunch. Prices are very reasonable for the instruction, board rental, and guided tour. I highly recommend Uvita Surf Camp!!

“Amazing Trip Thanks to Uvita Surf Camp!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

Tito and his team went above and beyond to ensure our trip to Costa Rica was memorable. He is a fantastic surf instructor and guide. Me and 7 friends were all first time surfers and all were riding big waves within hours. Tito also setup a fishing trip for us with a great guide and took us around Uvita and Dominical to see amazing lookouts and waterfalls that aren't in the guide books. He made us feel like we were visiting a long time friend. I highly recommend his services and can't wait to return!
