We centred our holiday to Costa Rica around 5 days of surfing and yoga with Bodhi. From prompt, helpful, and friendly responses (via Skype and email) before our trip, custom and frequent itinerary changes while we were in CR, to fantastic surfing and yoga sessions, Bodhi was wonderful.
Gibran got us both standing on our boards on the first day and offered great tips and advice through all the sessions. With the warm water, beautiful scenery, and friendly teaching, we really enjoyed the surfing, hanging out, and chats on the sea. It felt like we were being taken out to surf by a patient, experienced, friend who wanted to share an activity he loved with us.
With one of us certified as a yoga teacher and the other a complete yoga novice, we thought the yoga sessions with Pilar might be a bit difficult to plan. However, set in the most beautiful yoga "studio"/platform, we both got a lot out of the sessions. Pilar teaches lovely, gentle sequences (great when you're a bit stiff in the shoulders from surfing), has a good knowledge of alignment and theory, adds a touch of yoga philosophy (which so few teachers do), and makes each session varied enough to make each session a different experience. The home-mixed essential oil neck massage is a great touch too! She was also amazing with organising add-on activities and itinerary changes on a seemingly daily basis throughout our stay.
Travis has been working with local organisations and initiatives for nearly a decade. We really appreciated having a chance to speak with him about some of the questions nagging us and getting a perspective on things from someone who has been a part of the Uvita and broader Osa community's development.
Other than the above, what made Bodhi stand out for us were the team's genuine interest in making sure we had a great time, their warmth and friendliness, their professionalism while maintaining a low key atmosphere, and their particular interest in pairing with and supporting initiatives that have a true social and/or environmental benefit. With "eco" and "sustainable" terms being bandied about, especially in CR, Bodhi really puts in an effort to avoid "greenwashing" initiatives.
