“Excellent Hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Hotel Fountain was excellent to stay with. Quality of food was very good and tasty.
Location is 10 mins away from market and has a good view for the sunset.
Enjoyed staying there and would recommend to others to stay.

We stayed for 2 days in this hotel. This hotel is very close to Mahabaleshwar market, Venna lake and view points. It has lot of open spaces with clean swimming pool, recreation activities, children's park. Food quality was good, but I felt the varieties in Buffet is very limited considering the price they charging.

i am, i will, i shall & will remain a fanatic who sees fountain in highest regard....

I am now 33, travel is a part of my daily subject- i FEARLESSLY say that the food, in FOUNTAIN is the worlds best food, I really have a sensitive stomach & only fountain could be my favorite.

Location wise, no hotel can be so quite, so sere & imagine seeing the valley....the Koyna valley.

The fun is i am writing this review when i am visiting mahableshwar...when fountain is not available for my stay & i would miss this hotel, but its a annual practice they close it during rains for maintainance, god knows if i am going to adjust myself in an another hotel or not!
They have a wide variety of rooms...you must be smart to choose the one.

ALL staffs, owners & managers....CHEERS!!!

Room Tip: ANNEXE rooms are goo for families, club rooms are good for honeymooners & they have duplex also...

Hotel fountain definitely provides a serene and picturesque view of the entire Koyna valley. The staff members are courteous and the vegetarian food served here is delightful! Great time to visit would be in Oct-Nov.It definitely has an old charm to it as it was one of the first hotels to be constructed in MAhabaleshwar. The rooms are clean and the ones with a balcony are a good option.Does not have a lot of entertainment options but in comparison to the other hotels in MAhabaleshwar this one provides an overall satisfying experience!!

Room Tip: Do not choose the cottages as they are horrifying. They may be cheap in value but to escape the Tiny...

I had been in this hotel recently for 3 days. Unfortunately the room quality is so bad, I was willing to check out immediately in 10 minutes. The rooms are quite old fashion, badly painted and with worst possible elctric fittings. There was a single charing point with loose connection. If you are lucky then only fan will be operational. The fan was always in full speed irrespective of regulator position. Moreover when complained to management the reply was "in summer only full speed is needed, no need for reulator right?". The room not even worth of 300 rs, they charge 3000 rs per day. Plumbing work is full of leakage. As far as room quality and maintenance as well as response to room complaints are concerned its the worst!!. The carrom board was also broken.
The only advantage is its delicious food. Food quality, variety and test was awsome!!
If you are ready to go for only food and do not mind in staying in slum like room, you can visit. There is some renovation work is going on, I hope the rooms are atleast tolerable after that. I would rate it 2 only for food, if food is excluded I would give it big 0!!

Room Tip: Do not go for semi-deluxe rooms, go for expensive rooms (>5000 rs per day) which could be tolerab...

I Stayed as part of a group here between 27th January and 3rd February, 2012, as part of a conference. The hotel is one of the oldest in this town and is situated right next to Koyna Valley, which makes the place very scenic.

Part of the hotel is old, part is newly constructed and the dining hall is situated separately. The deluxe rooms are spacious with two double beds with attached balcony facing the valley. The other rooms are also quite spacious. They have one large conference hall, one small meeting room and one projection/TV/Movie room or conference facility.

Lets look at the good things first:

great view, quiet, away from the market place and tucked in a corner - peaceful place. Rooms are spacious with TV, hot water, western style bathroom, dressing table, cupboard and a writing table. They have outsourced the laundry so you have the washerman coming in the morning to take your cloths to be returned in the evening. There is swimming pool, garden, children play ground, helipad (yes, that too) and walking area right next to the valley. The food is offered to you with traditional Gujrati warmth and hospitality, something that you can't say no to. Food is very tasty and if it is something that you like, then you will relish the food here. The servers and waiters serve you with a lot of ownership as though you have come to their home and not to a hotel.

now, lets look at some of the challenges:

first is the food, it is traditionally Gujrati and Maharashtrian cuisine and hence though tasty, is quite oily and has a touch of sameness to it. After the first day, the stomach starts protesting if you are not careful with the oil, the oh so yummy deep fried stuff, the condiments, etc. secondly, they do not serve non vegetarian food, so it takes the pleasure out of eating for those who love it. then the rooms, they have seen good days to say very politely, i.e. some of the bathroom accessories better be changed. The hot water is available only in the morning, etc, etc.

But like I said, if you are not a fussy person, not looking for five star comforts, love the old middle class way of hospitality, need some peace and quietude, would love to have traditional Gujrati vegetarian food, then this is certainly an inviting place to stay ... you can go for long walks to the nearby sunset points every day, or simply just sit in the balcony and enjoy the beauty of the valley

Room Tip: please ask for room numbers 5 to 9 - they are best rooms with the best view of the valley. these roo...
