“past its useby date”

Too big too noisy, too many cats. Great location terrible food. Food not cooked to order, just mass produced rubbish, seafood platter tasteless nonsense . Fish or mussels put into awful sauces, fish overlooked and fish and prawn curry same sauce. Too many nice restaurants in Goa to bother with this place. Leave off the agenda.
This style of cooking not good dining at all. Pity as location really good.

“Falling Hygiene standards”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Brittos in Baga, Goa is one place that has been on my must do list every time i visit Goa which is atleast once a year. While the food has been very good on most occasions the reason for the negative review is the appalling and falling standards of hygiene in the restaurant. There were cockroaches floating around in the enclosure area and rats in areas where the tattoo artists have their stalls. This is really upsetting that such an iconic restaurant like Brittos has not bothered about keeping the hygiene standards at the very top. I know that it is a busy restaurant, but one must realise that the crowds are pulled to the restaurant due to the high standards and if those are not maintained, Brittos could very loose the crown it has been wearing for so many years !!! I sincerely hope that the owners stem this issue as a priority. Thanks.

“Fantastic Location and Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We ate all the Goan delicacies on the Menu and they were great. Highly recommended. The place closes a bit too early especially during the long republic day weekend.

“Excellent food and ambience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

During our 4 nights stay in Baga we went to Britto's twice for dinner and we loved the food and the ambiance. It is on the Baga beach and opens out to the beach. More than the food we loved the ambiance, one night it was karaoke- night and the live-performer was outstanding. He kept everyone present in the restaurant involved and made them sway to his tunes.

Food was excellent, we had the baked crabs and the grill platter and loved it. The prices are moderate and the service prompt. Prices and all inclusive and there is no additional service tax or vat.

If you are in Baga DO NOT MISS BRITTO'S.

“Good food but extremely crowded”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

Britto's personifies the flip side of being extremely popular! Due to its long-standing and wide-spread fame, almost every other tourist visiting Goa come to Britto's and as a result, it is almost always overcrowded in season. We went for lunch on a Friday and were assigned a table immediately, whose current occupants were yet to pay the bill but done with their lunch. We had to stand in front of them waiting (which almost looked like pleading) for them to leave! Array of tables and people stretched as far as we could see with just occassional glimses of the beach and the sea even though we were sitting on the third table from the beach! It was noisy and suffocating. There wasn't even enough space for parking the pram and guests as well as waiters kept bumping on it as they rushed through the narrow aisles, not to talk about the dust and sand flying off their thumping feet.

It took a good 45 minutes for food to arrive after placing the order. The menu has a good selection of wines, spirits and seafood. We had grilled tiger prawns and Goan fish curry with rice. While the prawns were delicious, the fish curry was nothing more than ordinary.

It might make sense to go to Britto's once for the experience, more so because it has become like a tourist spot itself. But definitely not a place for an intimate or relaxed dining. There are loads of shacks by the beaches, many of which serve as good food as Britto's (though the choice might be limited) and provide much better ambiance.
