“Worst Booking Services Ever Experienced....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

Folks,

Reading the reviews, i made a 100% plan to stay in this Resort from 16th April 2014 to 19th April with my family. I called the resort people and checked for availability which they confirmed as available for the dates mentioned.

I spoke them for further details on getting that booked, since i was not finding any online booking option / it was reflecting in travel sites as Not Available for the dates. That took almost 3-4 calls, as the people on Reception don't know how to book, they can just tell if that's available.

Further i spoke 2-3 times to a lady Sheila, who asked me to send my email id and Name on to a number provided as - 8390055518. I sent the details and she confirmed that she will send me the details to proceed further with the selection of rooms.

No email, i followed up with her after an hour, she confirmed stating, she will send me the email in 5 min. Again, no details sent.

I called the Mobile again and realized that she left for the day at 6pm and the guy receiving the call was so rude to say that he can just check the availability of the room and there is no damn person in their resort who can do the bookings other than the lady.......Pathetic customer services...WAKE UP OWNERS.....

We stayed at Cavala for 4 nights over NYE 2013. The hotel is finished to a really nice standard and even though it is on a busy street they have cleverly created a little oasis with plants surrounding the property.

The staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to help you. One waiter even offered to buy a particular lantern sold in his home town after my friend expressed an interest in them. The food at the restaurant is amazing, we ate there twice, great steak and lovely curries. They also open the pool area to use as a restaurant which is a nice setting. The breakfast is very good too, toasts and jams with eggs and fruit. The other very good restaurant we discovered just down the road was jamies- well worth a visit.

The pool area is across the road from the actual hotel- they are not on the same complex. There aren't enough sunbeds there so only once were we able to sit by the pool (there are only 6 if I remember correctly).

Our only complaint was that although the room was large it had very poor lighting and was damp in the bedroom. There was a nice little outdoor sitting area though as we were on the ground floor.

One thing I will say is that Baga is not what we expected and I would not go again nor would I recommend staying in this area. It is very busy and populated with tacky bars and clubs which play loud trance music all day and all night. This is on the beach also which we didn't sunbathe on once because of this reason. This may be because we went in the height of the season however I still think that if you want to relax it is best to go to the south.

Nevertheless the advantage to staying in the north is that you are nearer to some of the attractions. We visited the anjuna night market, the waterfall, and the spice plantation at which we were able to ride an elephant, all were good trips. We also visited old goa which is good for some culture, and went on the dolphin trip, which was not so good- you feel like herded cattle- I would not recommend this one. We spent new years at a beach party in Anjuna which was amazing- one of the best new years I've ever had. Goa is lovely and I hope to go back.

We returned to Baga after a 6 year break. Expecting changes would have spoilt the hotel and area. We need not have worried, things have considerably improved. Pavements built, less beach hassle and generally cleaner than before.
The Cavala is still a piece of Paradise in the chaos that is Goa. A beautiful boutique resort, designed and maintained in traditional Portuguese style. Tropical gardens surrounding both the hotel and Bannana republic, across the road.
The room we were allocated, had two balconies one at the front overlooking the road, the other, at the back with views of the fields and bird life, many a happy hour was spent watching the world go by.
The room has been recently renovated with some very tasteful touches, beds were very comfortable and the ceiling fan a great asset when the a/c was a bit too much.
Food at the hotel was great, with a good selection of European and local dishes. Breakfast of eggs fresh fruit, and really good coffee was just right.
We had Steaks one night which were some of the best I've eaten.
All the staff worked as a team, their aim seemed to make sure that your stay was enjoyable, a credit to Marios and Maria.
Thank you. See you next year.

I've been coming to Cavala since 1999. Needless to say I love the place. It's a quaint place five minutes away from the beach. Very cosy. Very friendly

The rooms have a character, each are a little different, and most on the first floor have balconies overlooking green fields.

The bar is a huddle for many, friends have been made, songs been sung, drinks been bottomed up and food been devoured.

Great entertainment on Friday and Saturday with live bands, though it does tend to get a little overcrowded for me.

All in all a lovely place. You'll surely make this place a habit.

We returned from our first visit to Goa this morning. I am not one for writing reviews, however felt compelled to highly recommend the Cavala. We had done a fair bit research and decided to find our own accommodation with separate flights.
So happy with our choice. Despite arriving at 2 am there was a friendly face to open the door and show us, without any fuss, to our room. No complicated checking in late at night.
We did, after a good nights sleep check in properly the following morning. How nice to be greeted in such an informal manner after a 12 hour journey.
The room itself was clean and had air-con. Flat screen TV with lots of channels to choose from including numerous movies in English. BBC World News CNN etc
Mini Bar fridge stocked with beer, sprite, water.
The bathroom was spotless and had a large wet room type shower, lots of piping hot water from the solar thermal on the roof. Good quality clean towels, changed regularly during our stay.
Two single beds, quite small but pushed up neatly together, with clean sheets and pillows, additional blankets. Comfortable we both slept well during the whole stay.
Ceiling fan to de-strat the air which was nice if you didn't want constant air-con.
Our room was on the first floor and had a balcony from the bathroom looking out onto the main road at the front and a balcony to the bedroom looking out onto the fields at the back.
The road can get busy, and as is the way lots of car horns tooting merrily away, never became obtrusive, but you don't need an alarm clock!
Ground floor has a tropical garden feeling with well tendered planting, even saw little frogs jumping around the plants which have the most amazing fragrance, especially in the evening. Opens out into alfresco dining area and covered bar area. Mixture of styles and influences from the Indian stars hanging overhead, to a hippy mix, tones of colonial with the bar and the bottle cases behind.
Staff always friendly and accommodating, Benny runs the bar on the busy live music nights with aplomb. Great work.
The Breakfast was more than adequate, eggs, toast, fresh juice, tea & coffee all included. Further choice at small additional cost.
Location was spot on for Baga Beach 3 min walk and easy access to Ajuna Candolim Calengute. Taxis always available at reasonable prices.
Evening meals from the menu were of the best standard, with smiling staff on hand to advise on the local dishes. Steak was simply fab!
Live Music Wed, with Friday being a great party atmosphere, friendly people from all over joining in the fun, dancing, singing. I Haven't seen impromptu dancing on the bar for a few years! Great time had by all. The band were accomplished and had a great repertoire. Sing along 70s 80s 90s.
Directly opposite is the pool and another lovely garden and Bar area. Despite being by the road this is still very private and well tendered, clean and a relaxing place to spend time.
Not the lowest cost accommodation available in the area, but in terms of value for money, we couldn't have been happier. I think the pictures tell their own story.
We were flying late and were able to keep the room right up until the taxi arrived at no additional cost, As we checked out and settled the remainder of our bill, we were asked to spend our last couple of hours relaxing and enjoying drinks and a meal on the house! What a lovely surprise and such a kind gesture. Many Thanks to all at Cavala, it was smashing.
Hi to Shakil, thanks for looking after us. Mario and your team THANK YOU
