“Location, food, music”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Yes, location, food, music;- three reasons to stay at Cavala. Though the food and music part is good at a lot of other places in North Goa. So, location is what keeps you here. I found the rooms pretty costly for what they are giving; but it is located near Baga, that explains the high price. I would say helpful staff, but could be more friendly. The breakfast is average, but freshly made. Overall okay place to stay, good with group, I will not recommend for romantic stay.

Room Tip: Take ground floor rooms

If there is one reason you should stay at Cavala, it would be its proximity to baga beach. It is just 400 m from the beach. If you need more reasons, the next would be friendly staff there. Very helpful people and always ready to help. It was my second time at Cavala. The place is pretty nicely done . What I like about Cavala is that it has got a good restaurant, a bar and a swimming pool at one place and a beach very close to it.What else would one care for in Goa :)
The ambience of the place is nice. One thing they can do something about is the room quality. For 3k for an a/c room, it looks little expensive.
All in all, nice place to stay and relax.

Room Tip: Cavala also has another property call Banana Republic right opposite to it on Baga. This place was g...

Smell of sand and breeze filled with oceanic scent makes the stay at Cavala memorable and enjoyable. Believe me there is no exaggeration in this.... If you go with the idea of having 4 or 5 star property , then you are at the wrong place.... It is a basic hotel with the class of colonial elegance keeping it's simplicity intact.

I have stayed here more than 7 times and still wants to stay more... My rating for this hotel would be

Comfort- 3.5 Stars
Cleanliness- 4 Stars
Food - 3 Stars
Location- 5 Stars
Service- 4 Stars

Room Tip: Any First floor rooms, field facing...

There was a time when this was an excellent place and then something went really wrong. Like any other review mentioned here, I agree that location is the only plus point this place has. Rooms are really sub standard and 3k or so for such a place is daylight robbery. I would recommend to stay at any place in Candolim rather than wasting your money at baga/calangute stretch.

We've stayed at cavala in a recent visit to Goa...Location is the KEY...food is pretty expensive and very limited options in the menu...Brittos round the corner is a perfect option for nice food than its own Banana Republic.....Rooms are kept tidy but extreme humidity on walls kept transmitting mild shocks all over when touched... A heavy rain would ruin u r room and happiness. No covered access to the rooms...you get drenched by the time u reach reception...Some measures taken can make this place a cool one.....

The popular saying that in real estate the most important thing is Location, Location, Location fits aptly for this property in Goa. The only thing this hotel has going for it is its location in Baga. The rest of what you expect from a hotel for a comfortable stay is missing.
Rooms-We decided to stay at Bali, a pricier room in comparison to the other rooms Cavala offers. The air condition wasn't working and given the room has little to no ventilation it just made staying in the room impossible. The phone in the room dint work..which means if i need to call room service, I had to use my mobile phone on roaming. Given the number of times we had to follow up to either get the ac fixed and the room cleaned...it was frustrating.
Service-They seem to forget that they have guests. Reaching out to the staff for basic needs of towels, housekeeping, etc was a task in itself. Most of the time we had to walk to the main desk to get our issue addressed and even then it would take a while before we got any service.
Food-We only had breakfast at the restaurant as it was a part of the package.Cant complain on the offerings..but some variety would have been good. We stayed for 5 days and the choices were limited.
Location-What works for Cavala is the location, close to baga beach and short ride to anjuna and vagator. My recommendation is if you are travelling on a budget and you know your travel itinerary will have you outside of the hotel for most of your day and evening, then pick the most basic room on offer and not spend on any of the higher end options that Cavala offers.

Room Tip: Pick this place only if you are travelling on a tight budget and intend to stay out of the hotel for...

Day 1 A/C broke down, downgraded me to some old room with working A/C but in poor repair. No water in bathroom next morning. Complained at 8AM - they delivered half bucket of water by 10AM. My parents' suite door could not be locked. Cavala advice to them: to take all their valuables and put it in my room and leave their room unlocked. Very courteous, sympathetic helpless staff. Good breakfast. But overall a really frustrating experience because of these problems - especially with going with my aged parents and young daughter - she was staying in a supposedly great place and having to fetch water in a tumbler from outside to brush her teeth in the morning.

Room Tip: Make sure A/Cs are working and running water in the bathrooms. Avoid the "second class rooms&qu...
