“First trip to Goa”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

When we first arrived at this hotel I was waiting for the resort to open up and show itself and was rather disappointed that it was not so much a resort but a small hotel which really consisted of a small reception and seating area with no separate bar. The restaurant which was nicely located across the road also doubled as the bar area which did not really work, the pool area has some nice views, however there are very few sunbeds and hardly any space for them although we found it a very peaceful place to be in the afternoons as there is a lot of madness and noise in Goa. The rooms are very dated and in need of a lot of attention to meet what we would consider normal requirements however standards in India are very different, fridge, fan and air con were very noisy and looked like they had not been cleaned for some time, on the plus side rooms were spacious and linen was changed every day. Food and drink in the Hotel incurred a large 30% on the advertised price unlike elsewhere in the area, we found the food to be good although the breakfast buffet was very limited in choice. The staff are very friendly and attentive and did their best to try and meet all our requirements. There is a red dust everywhere in Goa so don't take anything that you are not prepared to ruin we took new trainers and within a couple of days they were covered like everything else in Goa, high heels are out of the question as there are no pavements. The restaurants in Arpora that we liked were the locals restaurant Starlight great food super cheap, Spice Oven great bar and continental style food good,Nicks restaurant owned by a British couple was super clean and very good for both Indian and continental food. The water fall day trip is to be avoided at all costs, you are driven dangerously at high speed for over two hours then stop for lunch at the elephant rides which is more like a circus and sad, they will try to sell you monkey food here but the monkeys are not interested as so many people feed them. Then off to the falls where there is an endless stream of jeeps going up and down creating a red dust storm that covers everything. There is a further dangerous climb up to the falls which are not really worth the effort for the ten minutes you spend there, then its time to head back down to meet your driver and endure the long trip back and there were also many extra costs on this trip. The Arpora area although lively is much quieter than the nearby beach resort of Baga which is noisy and busy day and night, Baga beach is very crowded with male Indian tourists who mostly stand and watch the western femail tourists, I found this uncomfortable. We used the beaches at Morjim and Mandrem which were absolutely beautiful, calm and no problem at all, the beach at Sinquerim near Fort Aguarda was also very good. All in all we enjoyed our holidy although it was very diffent to what we expected, we have given our honest opinion of how we found everything and would say finally If you are in need of rest and relaxation North Goa may not be for you.

Room Tip: First floor rooms over pool are the best 312 has a good all round view

Good Resort. We had stayed there for 3 nights and overall it was a good experience. We had booked two rooms there and they had given two adjacent rooms.Swimming pool's water was very clean we all enjoyed. WE had enjoyed Gala dinner during X-Mas Food quality for gala dinner was OK. otherwise food quality for normal dinner / lunch was good at Tabla restaurent. since gala dinner was pretty costly expectation was to provide mocktails as well but unfortunately that was not part of gala dinner . Bath Area is very small. Not to forget staff was very courteous and supportive . TV signals were not very clear.

Room Tip: All rooms face swimming pool. suites are really good. standard rooms are also very spacious.

Resort Logoa Azul is a wonderful place and very unlike the picture you see online. The real place is much better once you visit it. The best part of the resort is the hospitable staff and extremely calm and relaxed atmosphere. We got an upgrade to a suite, the room was large and had 2 balconies. Though the furnishing is basic, its clean and very usable. However, for the cost the resort could do with some more room amenities. The only area which was a bit letdown was the toilet/bathroom, which is a bit small as compared to the room size and also needs an upgrade to modern fittings. The food too is excellent. On the whole, i would definitely recommend a stay and wouldn’t mind a it a 2nd time for myself.

Room Tip: The water heater in the toilet runs on Solar, so incase you need it post sunset, it coukd be an issu...

We recently travel to India and not knowing what to expect and being for us first visit India, we decided to to book out holiday with Tomas Cook. Everything was fine until we arrived to our final destination.
Lagoa Azul resort was a huge disappointment from the moment we walked trough the reception. Reception staff with very poor English, therefore you know you're in trouble, dirty and smelly surrounding. The room was less than 1 star rating. Hot water not available at all time, toilet in a horrible conditions - need maintenance. swimming pool has not been cleaned while we were there. I didn't dare to jump in! Resort restaurant was our next disappointment. We booked bed & breakfast but received some vouchers for a free dinner, which we used of course. being overcharged, poor management of the restaurant, waiter running around like chickens, poor product knowledge,...this is what you get if you dine at the resort restaurant!!
Poor Poor Poor.
We'll never go back again although we will go to India again soon.

Just come back from Arpora and had a great stay. Its been almost six years since I was in Goa and thats too long. I have stayed at the Marina Dorada before and four other places in Goa over the years so I think I have a fair bench mark to work to. The hotel is stylish well looked after and pleasant. The room we had was on the third floor and had a pool view. No lift but we need the exercise after eating at many of the excellent bars and restaurants nearby. The room is a little bit worn and dingy by western standards but quite acceptable and the cleaners did a good job each day.

Breakfast is a mixture of western and indian so if you fancy spicy food at breakfast you've got it. The guys serving are friendly and polite as are the reception staff and nothing is to much trouble.

The big plus for us is that it is situated at the end of a cul de sac, so very quite and relaxing. Its just a short walk to some excellent places to eat. The food in the hotel is good but part of our holiday is trying different places. Try the Spice Oven, good Indian food, British fish and chips and a lasagne to die for. Sounds tacky but its not and the owner is most obliging and friendly. He comes from Shimla where the mountain railway is in the North of India, as featured on the BBC recently. He runs a good bar and has a handle on what the British what with regard to food. Nick and Nat's in the village its self is good and All Spice is also a cracker.

We had a scooter all the time we where there so transport was no problem but there is a shuttle to the beach. The village centre is just over five minute on foot.

I would recommend this Hotel for the quite location and a relaxing stay but not too far out of the cut and thrust of things if you want it lively. For those who like nature there are more Kingfishers than you can shake a stick at as well as parakeets and other birds. I plan to return.

One last thing, Mackies Saturday night market is a must. Grate vibe, great prices (haggle) and good selection of food. live music to. If you need a change from spicy food the English man there does great roast pork or beef bap with roasties!
