“A fantastic place to get away from it all.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Mbuyuni Beach Village is the ideal place to go if you want a peaceful relaxing holiday away from the world. The complex is right on the beach and we were lucky enough to get one of the two first floor rooms overlooking the pool and beach. The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh sheets and towels provided. The staff are friendly, helpful, and laid back which adds to the relaxing atmosphere. The dinners at night and, the fish dishes in particular, were delicious.
Set on a beach of stunning white sands between Paje and Jambiani the complex provides all you need for a fantastic chilled out holiday.
What you also need to know ..
The wifi is only available in the bar and it's usually slow.
In the rainy season, end of March through April, the flies can be a pest in the open air restaurant.
There's no aircon in the rooms.
If you choose to hire a car expect to be stopped by every police officer looking for a "present".

For the price it's hard to find better on the east cost of zanzibar , the rooms are simple. But clean and airy by their perfect position , everything works , and if not they will fix it in record time.
The staff is professional and very nice , the food is good, the best is the pool & wifi, believe it or not the seawater will not refresh you , a pool is a lifesaver when you get overheated, great security at night, beautiful moon rises out of the sea, also if you are tired of all the bugging which unfortunately is happening on the beaches, you find this like a hidden oasis.not recommendable for youngsters who want to have more action , go to Paje for that.

Stay for 5 night after Safari and were so happy we did. We loved our stay. The staff are friendly. The wifi service was a bonus at their Restaurant though it can be slow at times. The pool side area is great when the ocean is too far away to swim.
We thought the price was good value for what we got.
Finding a taxi can be a tricky and expensive to go to Paje or Jambiani village at night.
I am sure that if we ever re visit Zanzibar we will definetly return to this place.

If your on a tight budget this is fine but if you want 3 star acommadation and upwards avoid at all costs..very tired rooms clean but in very bad disrepair great if your a backpacker and just want a place to stay one or two nights bareable then. staff very friendly food very good but you have to order it in the morning for dinner..strange but they dont waste nothing very poor country so understandable, the beach is out of this world but you will get hassled when your on it by beach sellers this can be very annoying ...stone town is about 45 min taxi ride away a must see but haggle the price will start at $50 but you can get there for $20 there and back the taxi will wait ,or take a dallar daller local transport for about $3 but very cramped if you dont mind uncomfy close quarters you will be fine..lol..

We stayed at Mbuyuni a couple days during Christmas 2012 (left first Christmas day). For the price we paid it was a pleasant stay. The room is big enough (you only sleep there anyway). The shower was not good, but the rest was all right. Swimming pool is nice. The food is good and reasonably priced. Don't expect an excellent service, but the people do what they can. But what does it really matter, there is sun, drinks, food, ocean view (not really good for swimming), swimming pool and a lot of time to relax.

We booked a double bungalow from the Mbuyuni Beach Village for six nights (for Christmas holidays) through the hostelbookers.com. When we arrived there, the receptionist showed us a list of reservations to confirm the availability of bungalows. I found my name as the 7th one on their list of a total of 18 names. However, some of their staff had used a pencil to overwrite my name on the list, meaning that our booking was no longer valid although we had paid our reservation fee many months earlier. The receptionist then told us that they had booked us a room from another bungalow village in the Jambiani village center, but that place did not have a swimming pool and was generally of lower quality than their place. When I was trying to ask the reason for the cancellation of our booking, the receptionist started to tell stories and lies about the problems with internet, etc. which, however, did not justify why my name was on their list and then cancelled by them in the first place. They were not even willing to give us our money back or to give us any discount if we moved to the other lower quality bungalow they had already booked for us. The dishonesty of the staff at the Mbuyuni Beach Village did not end there as they next took us to the Shehe Bungalows where a worn out room with a broken mirror, dirty bedding, irregular availability of water in the shower, no towels, etc. was waiting for us. As a compensation they promised to bring us two matresses to be used on the beach, but as we expected these matresses were never brought to us. So, avoid the Mbuyuni Beach Village at all cost unless you want to experience the same bad management, poor customer service and relocation to a lower quality accommodation as we did during our Christmas holidays in 2012. In addition, the beach in front of the Mbuyuni Beach Village is not good for swimming, so it is better to book some other bungalow closer to the Jambiani village if you really want to enjoy the joy of swimming in the Indian Ocean.

We spent a glorious 10 days at this hotel in Zanzibar. The rooms are nice, the beach is beautiful. The satff are gracious and accomadating. Mickey and Shehe will do anything to make your stay better. They arranged a driver to take us to a spice farm and stone town. They arranged for my daughter and I to get a massage (on the beach). When a beach front room opened up after 3 days stay, we were able to upgrade to 2 beach front rooms!
