“GREAT FOOD AND GREAT ETHOS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

The concept behind this should be supported-training young local people-but they serve up really good food at ridiculous prices for those of us fleeing restaurants in Europe.

Staff are wonderful-view sensational -food superb-and Friday night dinner not to be missed-could not recommend more highly.

“Excellent Coffee”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Best coffee i Jambiani!
And delicious pastries.
All made of young Zanzibar people participating in courses for chefs and servants.
Alibis Well works as a vocational school, - sadly with limited hours!

“Great people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

Very well located on Jambiani beach. Food is very good. You must support the initiative of this school ( the entire staff are student at the hotelier school ). Owner Pat and Alastair are extra nice.

“Best Food and Coffee in Jambiani for sure..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

..and possibly best food and coffee in whole Tanzania (after a two month stay). The restaurant is a training center for tourism and offers free of charge training to local students. They have great wraps at lunchtime (during the week), Thursday is cocktail night and on Friday night they serve amazing dinner. Really excellent. And: don't miss the desserts!

“Sympathetic but variable quality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Alibi's Well is a well-located restaurant with a great view and fresh wind coming from the wind on the (semi-)exterior terrace.

The service is very friendly here, but if you go eat here you can certainly expect some flaws. It is all in the concept: as the staff consists of students that are learning, you will notice them doing their best but not always succeeding. The staff follows certain steps they have to take, but as soon as something does not fits in these steps you will notice some confusion. For example, when we slightly changed the order it led to some confession.

We tasted different types of wraps here. In contrary with the many positive reviews we did not find them that special. The wraps themselve are quite tasty but the sauce and salad have an asian taste and do not match the taste of the chicken/fish wraps we had. The coffee served as dessert is quite good, although the steamed-milk foam on the cappucino could use some improvement. The apple crumble itself is good, but the sauce too abundant and sweet.
