“Not as good as it used to be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

I was disappointed to find quite a few empty shops in Bridge Road. I would guess that DFO and Harbourtown have taken trade away which is sad. Still a nice couple of hours browsing but I didn't find any real bargains. Had a great coffee and fruit toast at Mornin' Gorgeous.

“Bit depressing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

Left a luncheon at Restaurant and wandered along Bridge road were a bit taken back by the amount of vacant premises we saw if this is being caused by restrictive parking being enforced, some measure should be introduced to try and reinject some new life into this once iconic shopping strip

“More for women”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

Girls I know say that they usually manage to find shoes at good prices.

There are a couple of good clearance stores but also some empty shops at present which is a bit off putting.

Good tram access from the city on route 48 (Collins Street) or 75 (Flinders Street).

“Overrated”

Better bargains to be had overseas, clothing & homewares-wise. If you are into certain labels though (e.g. Country Road) or have a particular shopping need (e.g. a coat from Paddingtons or Hi-Fi gear from Encel, which are all great specialty stores)and LIVE in Australia, it can be wise to have a look here. It has been usurped in the last decade somewhat by the likes of DFO et al.

“Shop til you Drop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

Bridge Road is a great place to shop, many boutiques, shoe shops, florists, nick knacks, and cafes and pubs galore, you need to have your pockets full, a comfy pair of shoes on, and be prepared to shop, then stop and have a coffee, and shop............... Bridge Road is probably 4 klms long, and then there are also shops and little shopping centres off to the side. There are lots of shops believe me, however there are quite a few shops that have closed down. Still well worth going. My sister bought alot of great quality tops at 50% off and less, a jacket that was $350 for $99, a pair of boots $199 to $49, so you definately get substantial savings. I also saw Cotton On shops had prices starting at $2. Most big name brands are on Bridge Road. Take care, parking fees are quite expensive and it is easy to get a fine if you run out of time.
