Description: Prince Alfred Hotel is a Richmond institution. Recently renovated, both the food and the decor are a cut above the standard pub. PA's is perfect for business lunches, after work drinks or a lazy summer afternoon in the huge outdoor courtyard.

“When looks can deceive”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

Inside this pub is sensational. Crisp but warm decor, a great outdoor area and enough quiet nooks to get away from the crowd. So far so good. The bar service is very ordinary. Slow and surly sums it up. Too many drinkers....too few people pouring a beer. Not only did i get thirstier standing there waiting but i was also getting cranky. Move on i thought....on to dinner. 8 of us sat down and ordered. The tapas entree was good. A range of saganaki, chorizo, corn fritters....all tasty. Im not sure what happened after this but we had a long wait until finally the mains all came out together and all were cold. Cold and listless. Actually cold, listless and a decided lack of taste. A shame. Its a beautiful pub that needs to sort out its kitchen desperately

“Good local restaurant, friendly reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Friendly welcome and food is well cooked and tasty. Not somewhere for a romantic evening meal but to catch up with friends or just have a meal out rather than cook it is great

“Great place for a catch up and drink”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012 via mobile

Whilst I love the old PA's and wouldn't have spent the money refurbishing it, there's no denying that the new PA's look good. Great selection of beer and wine at realistic prices. Food was careful and precise, perfect for grazing while drinking. Great sunny day spot in the courtyard.

“worst food ive eaten out”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2012

Set i a beautifully renovated pub the you would expect alot more. The actully bar, restaurant and courtyard are stunning but the food is absolutely appalling. I choose one of specials the "Marylands chicken". I dont know who though of this dish but it was dry tastless and to be honest the worst dish if eaten ever. Our other guests did like some of the other dishes but this special was anything but. A great place for a drink with well priced wines and spirits.
