“Great two nights accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Stayed recently (early October 2012) for two nights with another young couple. We each had a Courtyard room with balcony and breakfast was included in our stay.

Unfortunately my daughter and her husband weren't able to stay due to an illness which the staff were excellent about.

All in all I found the room to be clean with the bed very comfortable. The service from staff was excellent and the hotels' position was a picturesque location by the Yarra River.

Though some distance away, the City was easily accessible by tram or taxi.

Stayed last night, everything good at reception, great Irish guy at bar, dinner staff excellent. Room comfortable, big separate shower, no bath. Courtyard facing balcony big enough to spend time outside, table and chairs. Flat screen TV. Dressing gowns and nice toiletries. But this morning when we arrived for breakfast we were left standing at the entrance, staff passed us with no acknowledgement, (even thought there was only one other table occupied) and went to talk with another staff member at the other end of the room. We eventually sat ourselves at a table and began our buffet breakfast, had to ask another passing staff member for tea and coffee which when it came, the coffee was nearly undrinkable, being so strong. Sad finish to a great stay.

My husband and I stayed at the Amora last night as we were attending a wedding at Leonda in Hawthorn, we booked a taxi which failed to turn up. We were in danger of missing the wedding. Thanks to Brian on reception, he spoke to John and John drove us to Leonda, over and above the call of duty. We very much appreciate the excellent service we received. Our room was lovely and clean. Well stacked mini bar at reasonable prices too. Only one small suggestion, the towels and robe is a bit on the tired side now. Thank you again to Brian and John, will definitely stay here again

I stayed here with my sister for a night over the weekend.
We had found an accommodation package online that included parking, breakfast and a bottle of wine on arrival.
The room was a good size including bathroom, comfy bed and pillows, well stocked mini bar, clean throughout.
Staff were all helpful and friendly. On arrival we were informed of a band that would be playing until 10pm but we went out until about this time anyway so was no issue there for us. We could hear some crowd noise when we got back at about 10, people talking and laughing etc but this didn't bother us really, I didn't think it was too loud.
Our breakfast was really good and there was a very good range to chose from, fruit, cereal, croissants, pancakes, yoghurt, bacon and eggs, mushrooms, hash browns and more. I love a good breakfast so this was a big win for me :)
On checkout the reception were able to hold our bags for the day which was greatly appreciated because we wanted to spend the day shopping before heading home and we weren't in our car so were happy we didn't have to cart them around with us.
All in all it was an enjoyable stay and I would absolutely recommend Amora and stay here again myself.

Stayed for one night whilst attending nearby business function. Rooms were spotlessly clean and well maintained. Bed very comfortable. Surprised how quiet it was there considering the location on Bridge Rd. Had a queen courtyard room which included buffet breakfast and car parking as a package on wotif - very good value for $149. Not a huge variety for breakfast but still plenty to eat

The Good: Well maintained and modern rooms. Has all the mod cons you need when travelling without going overboard. Location is excellent. A tram stop is located right outside the hotel. Both trams take you past the MSG and into Melbourne.
The Not So Good: Not a fan of standing in a bath to have a shower, Down grades the modern touch a bit. Restaurant was OK, but you can get cheaper and a better range a km or two down bridge road.

Room Tip: The Hotel has a central courtyard which is used for functions periodically. When I was there they ha...

Staff here recognised us as soon as we walked into reception which was a nice touch, friendly but very professional.

Facilities again were very clean and amenable and the location is right on Bridge Road restaurants and shops and just a short trip from the Melbourne CBD.

There were several people staying here for a wedding including the bride and groom and the entire group appeared to have a great relationship with the front counter staff who had apparently been very helpful.

Extras supplied by the hotel are also good such as bicycles and in room literature about local scenic cycle paths along the river.

This is still our choice of hotel for trips to Melbourne on cost, comfort and location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river.
