“The Place To Be In Tefe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

If you want to explore this area of Brazil, contact these people. The owners are extremely helpful in arranging everything you may want to do. They have a relationship with the operators of Pousada Uacari so arranging a trip there is easy. Bettine knows several languages and Fernando is very accommodating. He has contacts in the community and will arrange a variety of activities. We stayed in two of the lake-view rooms, one upstairs and one down. The upstairs room is better. The pousada is simple and clean with a delightfully casual vibe. We planned our trip in advance but I get the feeling that you could just arrive here without plans and have no problem arranging something. Tefe seems relatively new at tourism but it will only get better thanks to Bettine and Fernando. I would definitely recommend Pousada Multicultura.

We very much enjoyed our stay with Bettine. She has a very relaxed attitude towards her guests, and let them (sort of) be part of her own family with her beautiful daugthers and pets. The sunset from the top deck of the pousada is spectacular and the most beautiful sunset we have seen during our one month holiday in Brazil. Bettine's excursion to the mission is very worthwhile and the boat journey also gives more insight in the way that the Tefe people lead their lives, which are completely dependent upon the Amazonian river life. So we surely recommend spending some time in Tefé before and or after your trip to Mamiraua Reserve, as it gives some insight in modern life in a midsized Amazonian city.

A peaceful and comfortable pousada with beautiful views over the Tefe Lake and where the owners, Bettine and Fernando, strive to understand your needs in order to organize the perfect tour for you.
On our first day in Tefe, we started with a pink and grey dolphins spotting before heading to the catholic Mission. From there, we walked through three traditional villages while Bettina introduced us to the local life. Awesome! The next day, Fernando took us by boat to the flooded jungle.
We loved our stay at the Pousada and strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants to discover the Amazonas. You can really trust Bettine and Fernando to provide you with a unique experience that you will never forget...

Room Tip: Choose the double room with lake view

A great departure point to Amazon lodge. Room overlooking the lake was superb. Multilingual Bettine a big help in securing trip to the lodge but also in assisting with ferry and airline bookings. Informative side-trips available while waiting for access to the lodge.

Room Tip: Try for room with lake view.

We had a room with large windows overlooking the lake. There was also an adjoining balcony and sitting area with tables and chairs and a sofa. We had fantastic views with lots of opportunities to watch life unfolding at the houses and boats below us. A/C worked well. Wi-fi not at all. The warm water shower worked well.

Breakfast was good and it is served on the topmost level of the Pousada overlooking the lake. A great way to start the day.

It was a short and interesting walk to the centre of town, where there were many restaurants, shops and bakeries. The market was very lively and it's location near the port made for an interesting visit.

Bettine was very welcoming and helpful, giving us information, arranging our fast and slow boat tickets to and from Tefe and suggesting things for us to do. She walked with us down to the docks so we could see the slow boat and we were able to buy our tickets on the spot. You would be hard-pressed to find a more hospitable host.

This is where we would stay if we are ever again in Tefe.

Nice, comfortable place in this Amazonian town and convenient for Mamiraua Reserve trip. The balcony overlooking the river is lovely. Its a short 10min walk to the centre of town.

Bettine was super helpful for ideas / bookings etc for travel around the Amazon and arranged numerous flight tickets as non-Brazilian credit cards are not accepted. Everything worked perfectly.

Thank you!

Nice place in the middle of Amazon. Reasonably priced. Good starting base for Mamiraua trip.
Bettine was very helpful in arranging our flight tickets from Manaus to Tefe (when we were still in Europe). Airline did not accept on-line purchase using European credit card. I made bank transfer of entire amount for 3 persons to Bettine, although we've never met before. Everything worked perfectly :)
