“Amazing hospitality, location, comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

we came to this B&B by chance, and had an amazing 2 nights. This place has 3 comfy bedrooms, a great pool, which is kindda private, bikes to take to wineries that are very close, amazing breakfast, and two beautiful hosts with great breakfast. I totally recommend this place to couples or singles. will definitely come back...
I forgot to mention I had left a pair of shoes there and the owner that was travelling to my city took them for me and hand them in all safe and sound. In summary! Great people!

Oliver House is a charming place to stay. The friendly hosts ensure guests are comfortable and feel at home. The breakfasts are wonderful and the large pool was appreciated after biking in the hot sun.(and to sit around and sample some of the wine we purchased on our bike tour). There's even a resident owl! Have stayed there twice and love the fact that's it's surrounded by orchards and nearby vinyards. Easy to bike into town or the golf course restaurant. Thanks Steve and Claudette!

We just returned from the Okanagan's Fall Wine Festival. This was our 2nd time going and it just keeps getting better and better. It was surprising to us that more people haven't discovered this gem of a getaway vacation. The scenery is wonderful, beautiful fall weather, lots of activity options, great wine, great food, charming B&Bs, Canada's wine country is missing nothing that one would want if a wine festival appeals to you. We started off at the People's Choice Awards at the Capri Hotel in Kelowna in the blind tasting room, where the people got to judge the wines and you could sample to your heart's content. There was also a large tasting room where you could speak to the different wineries and sample their products, with really good hot hors d'hoeuvres.

From there we moved south to Oliver, and made the Oliver House B&B our centre for exploring that part of the Okanagan. The house is fascinating - historic, with a hidden door out of the dining room, and a hidden dumbwaiter to the wine cellar. Would highly recommend it. We did the Historic Rails and Trails activity - a 4 mile hike on the Trans Canada Trail with a return trip on the Kettle Valley Steam Train with a barbecue and wine awaiing our return. The banjo player on the train was a huge hit with everybody singing old standards that everyone seemed to know, regardless of age. Then we did the Oliver Festival of the Grape which had two big tents for wine tasting, an artisan fair, a grape stomp with teams in costume competing to see who could stomp the most juice and Polish folk dancers. Our final event was the Tinhorn Creek vineyard hike and lunch. Really interesting. It was a beautiful day - out under the sun, learning about the day to day life of running a vineyard, and returning to a really nice lunch and wine (of course) served in their outdoor amphitheatre. Then of course we went to all the wineries and had to decide how we were going to fit everything into the vehicle - hmmmmm....... suitcases or wine purchases?

It was a perfect getaway. Have mixed feelings about sharing information on this trip - a lot of people haven't discovered it yet and it was great for us that we didn't have to compete with hordes of people. But the area and its people deserve to be the next 'new' discovery for adults wanting a wonderful break, with quick access from B.C., Alberta, and the northern States.
